Welcome Smee I think you had a build tread on bridabella forum ,before it was fucked up by farce book. Great build great car ,keep us updated with your events and progress . Doing any events up northern nsw? cheers rob
  4. Will it fit in a ae71 don't no. Which is better they are both the same except ra60 has sway bar mounts ra40 doesnt. Both 1410mm wide Both t series. Get both because they will be all gone soon to make fridges in china!!
  5. Great story thanks Parrot,ED was a great steerer in his day . Like the no helmet days with there caps or the more up market terry toweling hats. Just ashame the likes Croker are wasting the tail end of there careers driving ride on lawn mowers. rob
  6. So the tube is press fit?or does it screw into the bottom ? How did you get it out! The bottom 80mm with paint still on it is stepped in so thats good just need a lathe with 50mm bore. Maybe some way to spin it evenly and emery cloth it . cheers rob
  7. Ha ha nice build ,will we see them at auto stores soon!!! nice work rob
  8. So the id of xt tubes is 45mm and the od of the bilsteins is 46mm The gland nut would be a one off ,but I'm not dealing with them f##ktards you no why. I will pull the ra40 one apart when they arrive see whats in there. rob
  9. Tarmac that black sticky stuff ,no Keith . I was given some ra40 struts with commodore tubes and bilsteins gravel spec. Just after i bought some new bilsteins of course . So now i have 2 sets . I couldnt get the bilsteins in the xt tubes that meant i would have to retube them. Then these come up buggar!!I still can't figure out how you guys get them in ra40 tubes seeing the xt tubes are the same!! The gland nut is another problem different thread ,it was just easier to retube than to force them.So now i have to go with the ra40 legs or xt130 legs (my preference} As i have many xt130 legs 3or 4 pair. rob
  10. Thanks Banjo I all ready have pajero m/c and rear discs ,running xt130 struts and twin spot sumitomo calipers.. The oem ra40 backing plates have a huge spaceing on caliper mounts. From reseach the ra40 and xt130 run same bearings ,need to find out about front hubs are the same off set. I remember reading that the hub s where different off sets not sure on this. If the hubs are the same i will look at ra65/60 disc and may be look at hilux calipers with custom mount not to sure. Unless some one has a better combo. Not interested in the mazda calipers to expensive and to old, looking for common and easy to find parts. Remembering it has to fit under 14in wheels. Not to much to ask haha!!! rob
  11. Going to RA40 struts in the rally car bare struts no backing plates or calipers. Brake up grade options let me no what works . Does the pug converstion work?? rob
  12. Wouldnt the 4k distributor that come with car have a big port gear on it ? I no that they like to remove the gear them self, because they told me that people damage the gear if ruff with it. On another note these work really well . Question are they all the same don't no sorry. rob
  13. Tony and Chris are certainly talented crew ,having watched over the weekend they embarrassed a lot of other crews in big dollar outfits. I was stuck in service park most of the weekend but ducked out on some of the closer stages. My boy done quite well to in car 121 mighty excel !!embarrassed a few wrx people. Although he broke an engine pipe saturday last stage ,but the rally community helped out and fixed it and some other problems we never saw. Big thanks to Mal Keough and Gary crew.Hoist Keith you need one of these for woolshed rallying so much easier . The top guys are so fast it really is F1 in the forest If you guys have never seen the wrc cars in full flight you need to get to coffs next year (maybe the last year at coffs} IF not to see the wrc but the woolshed guys debut No pressure guys HA HA!!! Rob
  14. All good points . It just amazes me here we are in a country with large reserves of natural gas, coal and god no what else is buried under us. Then we pay very expensive price for electricity . Talk of black outs over summer . Turnbull wanting to buy back liddell power station off AGL to keep power running. Yet come up the new england hwy any morning to pass another wide load of wind turbine going to Glenn Innes wind farm. It makes no sence to me but I'm a dumb truckie!! Stuffem I'm gunna run me 55 with webers as long as i can buy fuel !!!!
  15. Very tidy coupe lucky buggar. I agree with Colin sigh places will do it with quality vinyl rob
  16. Love this car Do a write up on rack converstion i would love to get rid of my steering box cheers rob
  17. The only service that we could use is australia post . The post code is 2350 ,we have some large companys here but they don't want to no you unless you have a acccount with them. As well we are in the back (blocks ) here not being close to the major cities. If your keen to give it a go pm your full address and we will see if it gets there ha ha. rob
  18. I would have one a 4k out of old engine under the bench. You can have it ,postage would be a killer !!! Let me no if your interested. rob
  19. Thanks guys for all the input so far, things are going ok so far !! The next question is we are going to run 2 switches one for each set of lights (2spot 2 broad beam) We need to be able to turn off the spot beams if need be (fog etc) and from memory this a road worthy thing. The question being can i pick up the high beam power from inside the car ?and run to switch then back to relay? Or run it from the back of head light in thru the fire wall then back to relay? Or find high beam power in the factory fuse box then run it thru the switch? Remembering we will be doubling up on any choice. Not sure if this circuit will have a huge load on it ?? Meaning can i jam 2 wires on the back of the head light hi beam or where ever we get the high beam power from? HATE WIRING !!! going to drink beer now Rob
  20. Hi Banjo The lights will be convention type not led or any thing to expensive ,because we no what could happen to them !! The battery is in the front of car still very close to lights . I was just bit stumped about the relays with 87a and 87 but Justin sorted me out on that . If you look on epay heaps of relays for cheap but they don't tell you that most are change over relays not normally open so you would buy 10 five pin relays that would be in reallity only be able to use as 4 pin.as 87a would be useless.? (MY TAKE ON IT ?) This is not on the corolla but a mighty excel!!!! the corolla is put away for the winter. cheers any way banjo
  21. Thanks Justin,so the best way would be to grab a couple of 5 pin relays with 2 x 87 only pins. No 87a .? I'm using heavy 7 core wire and plug to connect the pod to car ,your thoughts on this? Thanks again for help as always Rob
  22. Question lads or Banjo. So I;m wiring up son inlaws rally car for driving lights x4 in a pod set up ,I;m going to use a trailer plug so that we can still open the bonnet (7 pin) I;m going to use two 4 pin relays and wire them as 2 seperate circuits. Can i use pin 87 to run two driving lights?or use a 5 pin and hook each light to 87 and 87a ? rob
  23. Do all of the above ,then give it a compression test . This will tell you if your engine is needing rings ,thus causing all this blow by.
  24. Brilliant job Ryan love it!!!! One question are these things common over there? Like are they at the wreakers or have they all been crushed,it seems that all the hot rod shows from the us you can find just about any model muscle car you that takes your fance. Here in au most have now been crushed ,well the wreakers here see no value in them. There still hiding in sheds and now and then a good one turns up usually way over priced and wanting a lot of work. Nice work rob
