  1. TRD hilux.. dear me. What a disappointment. Ah.. Standard new Hilux (Tilux..) at work the other day. 14,000 ish? kms old. - Gearbox noisy - Diff Whine from about 30kmh - Gearstick rubber floged out & moves around like a spoon in hot butter - A/C overgassed, compressor boncing off highside - passenger frotn seat base rattles - Both mirrors external loose - interiour trim left hand side vibrating @ idol - Window regulator loose as all fark, not holding glass correctly at _ all - w/a out something cronic (all over the road) - Radio speakers drops in and out, mostly around corners - possible rear shock leaks nice for a first 10k service, on a non-comercial vehicle hey?
  2. if i said i was slightly envious of you would be lying. I'm F |_| ( K ! N G JELIOUS !!!!!!!!!!! (is that how you spell it?) UGHRASH ERRRRRRRR ~~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :jamie: :hmm: :sob: :sob:
  3. sik bro where do i get one?
  4. Its great to hear you guys have been having some trouble free motoring in them. Maybe the later ones had some of the bugs ironed out, maybe its the high kms and careless additude of some owners that really does it.. 38,000 kms - haha shes still new - tops ;)
  5. I hope it doesn't empty your pocket. Well, maybe your lucky and its still in warranty? Really, they are a poorly put together car, with bad quality problems throughout. Made in South Africa,( the Durban plant ) Here lyes the start of the problem(s). The interiors are somewhat comfortable, yet pretty dodgie around the edges. The leather isnt very good, the stitching is often uneven and un-finished at the edges; seems come apart. Front seats usually have excessive base play. Dash faces are generally better fitting that the Japanese ones (go figure), but the plastic compounds or something are different, as the south African corollas appear to fade more so than the jap ones. They have more squeaks and rattles than a 20 yr old tarago. The brakes are good in stopping terms, but don't expect to keep a set of pads and rotors more than 20 to 30,000 kms. Note, the Brake fluid is DOT 4 not DOT 3. Motors are locally built in South Africa. I'm not sure if the exhausts are different, or if its a lack of / different type(s) of sound deading, but all ZZE***'s in the JDM and SA range are horribly noisy. Road noise is bad, engine noise is loud, exhaust tone is raspy and annoying. Although the second set of lobes kicking in sounds cool.. even if the gearbox matched to the motor.. isnt really matched at all. Ratios Verse Australian Speed limits = shithouse. Gearbox's generally have alot of rollover bearing noise, the clutches generally feel light and unresponsive. Its a vehicle charastic. don't do burnouts, The CV's are not very strong. don't ever miss a shift, they are a tight working motor; it doesnt take much to stretch a piston or 2. I'm not sure how strong the internals are on one of these. Check the panel gaps over the car, maybe you have a good one, maybe you don't. Make it noted, the JDM and SA panels are totally different. *wink* Struts are leaky, and ive seen a few of them with saged springs. And noisy bearing top plates. And leaking powersteering racks. And timing case leaks. And creaking suspension. lol, ive even see one with the rod hanging out the front of the block. I hope for your sake you sell it. Because if you don't, sure it might be nice atm, but they are NOT a keeper car. if it lasts more than 3 years, its a positive. Because they don't even appear to be be designed to last that long.. Vote 1 = Sell
  6. My Flight leaves in 4 minutes, in 24 hours time
  7. well, that was more my point. They have all the parts avaliable, as to why they wont do it? I'm sure the sprinter would be a popular car if it was FWD back in the day, or only avaliable in Auto. :D
  8. More so the infulence of lexus vehicles interfeing with the ADM toyota range. Take the Daihatsu Sirion for example; it was taking away manyy echo/yaris sales. (well, from what ive been told anyway), along with the terios & Rav 4. Funny, The ACR40 Camry is exported to the world as a FWD & AWD vehicle. Aurion and camry are both the same pans, Oh feel like a manual? Look at the new v6 Rav 4. Same motor. AWD Manual? :D
  9. getting closer !! 5 sleeps to go ! haha

  14. l O l i want to find me a myspace open house party lol..
  15. For History purposes, i have found some pictures when the car was first put into the shed. December 2002 is when it rollered into the shed. oh dear god.. its been a while. That means the car has been in a shed for a 1/5 of its life. lol Enjoy :fuzz:
  16. yeah yeah yeah updates are here :fuzz: Full weekend on -> car. Sat update. - (currently drivers seatbelt in vehicle, all done) - Found all nescessary bolts and things, and correct belts (again) for car. Took a while to get all the right bits, as theres a few different spacer tube-washers for the belts (belt tight, but buckel can still freely move). Anyway, Managed to put all that together. Rear now has retractiable belts :) W00t. Took long enought to clean the belts, yuck to years of grime and crap. - Once belts in, covered rear wheel arches on inside in bling-soft material for sound deadening, so the seats don't rub. Velcro'd them into place, and double sided the material for extra nice-ness. Chucked rear shelf in (pimp-spec fur :(), and then FINALLY installed rear backing board and rear seat. Got tight fit? Looks nice now atleast. -Finished of front left belt (replaced it with another, as origional one i put in was foobared at the buckel) & shoe-horned the rest of the wiring in the correct places. All A B & C trims and lower door bits are on. But, front ones may come off again for finishing touches of wiring. meh. - Cleaned up handbreak assembly, installed with the light switch. Adjusted it (for the first time in how many years.. ) - Marked position in center console area for electric mirror switch, started cutting out. Almost done now.. lol Today i hope to get done.. - Handbrake cables installed and adjusted (FOR THE LOVE OF GOD I'm sick of trying to do it, i just need to pull ma finger out ha ha ha) - get all the roof handels, mirror, sun visors sorted out. oh and the interiour light. - Forgot to install the 2 front seatbelt storks hahah, so that needs to be done - Finish off mirror switch and put wiring up to switch. - Drill 2 holes and put rubber tube from front door(s) to body and run wires - Rust proof front doors - Install center stuff for good ( Radio cover, gearstick cover, center glove box thingie over handbrake) That'll do for today. If i get most of that done ill be stoked. That means this weekend the interiour has been basically finished. All that needs to be done then is for Evap unit and blower to go back in, after ecu has been mounted for the final time (still 1 small.. issue with the.. electrics.- Stuff). I can then put the front seats in, rear bottom seat in yada yada yada. Time to stop yabbering on about this car, and start working on it. :bash:

  21. lol few months too late :lolcry:
  22. Ok, With the AC.. THis may make a bit more sence. Providing the system has been retrofited, with R134a Gas (Old gas, R12), and you have the correct machine to do the job, Find it should be a pretty straight foward step. You would already know how its illegal just to top up systems now days, being if its got a leak, you need to find out why, rectify it then fill it up. Find the Sight glass on the sytem, ontop of the reciever dryer i think on the Ae82's; Id start with 300 grams, hold it at 1500 for a few mins, and watch the sight glass. If heaps of bubble when in cycle, add in 20 gram does's untill there are no more bubbles. As long as the low side is between 1.5 to 2.5 Kgf/cm3 , and the high side between 14 to 16 kgf cm3 - then the system should be pretty cold, theoritially. Replaced the reciever dryer bag at all?
