  1. Con - Snapped timing belt = rattle, bang clunk. Head re-build (at the least) time.
  2. Dare say it would be too big. K series motor have been around for decades, and a lot of them now have webers on them...... does that tell you anything!?
  3. A choke doesn't work by adding more fuel to make it richer..... It restricts the air supply to make it richer. Hence you would have had attrotious fuel economy for your 58kmh drive. My brother is into Fiats and his 128 has a "fast idle" pull nob next to the choke. Basically has the same effect as the choke (increases RPM) but its connected to the main throttle shaft so its just like have your foot down ~10%. That's real 70's cruise control for ya.
  4. VNT turbos don't have a boosted wastegate the have a vacuum solenoid. Works completely different and if you hook it up as a wastegate you won't get boost. Replace the solenoid with a normal wastegate however and you're good to go. I can explain how they work a bit better if you're intersted?
  5. Drop a turbo motor in it!
  6. Thought I recognised that car from somewhere..... http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=10704&st=75 Last post at the bottom of the page. Looks like its now sporting more camber, a rear wing and missing some headlights.
  7. Have you checked the legalities of the conversion in your state...... if its for a road going car?
  8. I want a moustach ride irokin!!
  9. As above. Depending on the casting inside the head you might have trouble with one or two. Hold your tongue the right way and they should come out. As Tojo said keep them in order if they're going back on the same cam. If your swapping cams they MUST be re-surfaced if you don't want to chew a lobe off the new cam. Last time I removed some with the head on I actually used a big easy-out - The tapered square ones, not the reverse thread type. Just tap it in slightly till it jams in and then lift out.
  10. Accelerator pump nozzle will give you a spray like a hose, main jets should give you a mist type spray. As for vacuum leaks, spray some 'start you bastard' around the carby base and inlet manifold. If the rev increase you have another vacuum leak as the SYB is getting into the engine somewhere.
  11. Are you also using the black spacer plate between the block and fuel pump? If not the lever on the pump won't move as far and hence won't pump as much fuel.
  12. FOR GODS SAKE......Please use to learn to use the FAQ/Knowledge base and stop starting new thread just casue you're too bloody lazy to look for yourself. http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Manual_Gearbox Now locking this thread and the other one for diff ratios. PM me if you have a problem.
  13. You're wrong  Boost is not RPM dependant. Its load dependant. Yeah maybe in won't make boost until about 4-5000rpm...... in first or second gear, But what about in 4th or 5th gear!? Just did a quick google..... http://www.melett.com/turbo-parts-catalogu...achi.pdf#page=6 They from a 3.3l Turbo Deisel Patrol. Here's the thing with deisel turbos onto petrol engines, yes it would normally be too big, but remember that a deisel does half the RPM of a pertol engine. Hence you can get enough exhaust flow through them to spool up on a much smaller capacity petrol engine. I say give it a crack, brand new and looks pretty cheap. I know a guy here in Tassie who has a different type of deisel partol turbo (was VNT) on a datsun A12 (1200cc) motor and that spool pretty damn quick. This was in its very primative stages......
  14. Nope. Last 2x webers I used I removed the chokes all together.
  15. Less than $100 more..... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Microtech-MTX8_W0QQ...%3A1%7C294%3A50 "turbo corolla" is probably a 4agte anyway!
  16. Its called a BUS...... which I would rather catch than driving a commonwhore to work. Considering Myles no longer has this car I think maybe the thread should be locked.
  17. Posted edited/deleted. I'm getting a bit sick of seeing you two (you know who you are) arguing and annoying each other in threads. Like your mummy always used to say - "If you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all".
  18. Forgot a STOCK ecu if you wanna go turbo in the future, just go aftermarket from the get go. $400 fark that, I paid $300 for my Wolf 3D V4 that had never been used!!!! Just gotta search around and be at the right place at the right time!!
  19. Oh pretty, it even has a trip metre!
  20. So what is the offending FWD POS???? Yeah seems a bit secrective on what you've actually aquired!
  21. Jip's put heaps of pics up from his Jobs, so here's one from mine. I make function rooms look like this.....
  22. Will do in a couple of days. I've been busy at work last week so I didn't get down to Hobart last weekend to see him. Reckon I'll notice a hell of a difference when I see him later today!!! Is now out of Neonatal Intensive Care and in the "speacial care nursury". We have one of those at the hospital in Launy (just no neo ICU) so hopefully he'll be coming up here in the next couple of weeks. Will make life so much easier for the missus and I. Oh and he's now over 1.5kg!!
  23. ^^ Gemini Nikki's and also mazda Nikkis bolt onto the stock manifold with no adapter plate. Sometimes just need to grind some of the casting for bolt holes (air cleaner etc) off the manifold to clear the throttle linkage.
  24. Engine number on the block would also be a good place to start! Drivers side of the motor just behind the dizzy. ....but considering a ke70 never came out with a 3k,..... or a 5k....... ?
  25. Ho wmany bloody thread do you need to start about big port heads? 30mm vs 25mm for a 4k.
