I dunno if the standard nikki chokes are removable! jets wouldn't be a problem. yeah dizzy should just drop straight in, hardest part about doing one on a k motor is making sure the oil pump key way on the end of the dizzy shaft lines up. :jamie:
-
What??? :jamie: umm rx4's have a big square box pee shooter exhausts!
-
:jamie: or do a little research befor posting!!!! Dude, this sorta question has been asked, and answered so may bloody times before. forget you wrote this post, (cause its gunna get locked anyway) take your finger out of your arse and do a SEARCH!!!!!!
-
I haven't got a complete moving car yet,.....2 half cars, but not a full one!!! :jamie:

Ok, now last nights work. started by removing T-series cross member...... Comparo pic, T-series in front, with a normal K-series behind. ^^^^That T-series cross member is now for sale if anybody wants it????? Painted standard cross member bolted in. Oh, also painted front sway bar and the brackets it mounts to. Ok, so I finished this much at about 12 last night, and for some reason talked myself into changing front struts. Been waiting for new shockies for a while now, thought I might aswell chuck these in for now and swap the new ones in when I get them. So the end result at about 115am is.........obviously these pics were takien this morning.
-
All the cutting in the front end has payed off......cooler now fits between the radiator and grill/stonetray, so I don't have to cut them like I did before.
-
Heres the pics of last couple of days and last nights progress. Liegh - any time you wanna have a look, just come round!! Ok, as mentioned above, finished fuel system from tuesday night. I like the new look of this end.
-
finally finished all of the fuel system the other night, now also includes a surge tank. all the wiring is done for it too. engine bay end looks sooooooo much neater than what it did, think i did a pretty good job, even if I do say so myself! :jamie: even managed to siphen 9 litres out of the old car  so its all bean checked for leaks too. never under-estimate the ability of GREASE to seal things that you would normally use gasket goop on!! :y: post pics up soon, probably tonight, just gotta charge the camera.
-
way I wired mine up is just with a switch on the trigger wire to the relay.....it the needle rises a bit much for my liking I just flick the switch. With commo radiator (same size as yours) only time it ever needs flicking is in a busy drive through or maybe peak hour traffic. Oh and it gets turned on before I wanna cook the shite out if it!! :jamie: heres a pic of the dash: Thermo is the switch on the left, also have a green indicator light to remind me that its on. really easy to pic up a ON ignition source in the dash, if you can't find one, fuse box is always an easy source!

oops  ;)

A 5k is just a "stroked" 4k!! ie same bore size and a longer stroke.
-
Yeah, you need to have the cap as the highest point in the water system. otherwise you'll never bleed all of the air out of the system. another option would be to put some sort of bleed nipple on the thermostat housing.

A blue ke35 coupe? that'd be Jonny Rochesters.
-
ah, well they say "assumption is the mother of all f-ups"!! I have just seen the width of the tappet cover on a 4a-fe and assumed it was a SOHC. ;)
-
no trying to pick holes but...... doesn't a 3k-b have twin downdrafts?? and isn't a 4a-fe a single SOHC engine??
-
yeah meant mechanical advance guys. elec dizzy - around 12o, points dizzy - around 40o!!
-
FFS :hmm: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: I don't give a shit about being on the list or not..........look take both my cars off it if you think thats what I'm arguing about. what I was proposing would put your 4AGZTEVVTIDETT in a AE70 in exactly the same category as my 4ktc ke55!!! I give up now! ;)
-
No..... ;) all of the above would be in one category.......thats what I was saying before - Not changing the categries them selves or the number of, just address the classifications of the categories. So a keXX with a 2JZ or even 1UZ, is not a cross breed??? :hmm: forget the term "cross breed" for a minute. and try and think of that category as "Engine coversions" weather they be toyota, nissan, or whatever other make. What if you designated that category as "Any corolla with an engine conversion that requires the modification of engine mounts and/or cross members"???
-
because I got it damn cheap and I can set up the fuel system much better with it rather than the standard tank. had issues with inlets/outlets of the tank not being big enough for my needs- the return line in k's are friggin tiny and not worth using, so I used my main fuel line as a return, and ran a new send to the reg. will be putting a surge tank in too when I find 1 cheap enough. not gunna go into reg on a public form! ;)

I reckon if you put the line to the vac retard solenoid in between the carby and SC, you will actually have a vacuum drop. Even though it's got the SC behind it sucking away, it will also (provided on full throttle) have a fully open butterfly in front of it!! as soon as the butterfly is them closed vacuum will increase. I think your best bet would be to do some research on other cars that came from the factory with a carby turbo setup. I was going to look into this myself, but just haven't got around to it yet. Couple of examples would be the turbo MG's or the turbo 1.5lt Lasers. If these have standard boost retard solenoids on them them it may be easy to modify one to fit the dizzy you are using. Also in regards to the elec dizzy, Boost+K in NZ runs an unlocked elec dizzy - with normal mechanical advancement. He said that the elec dizzies only pull about 12o max mech advance, were as points dizzies, like I run, pull up to 40o!!!!

yeah she went off the road on saturday.......after getting a good thrash along patena rd first!! :P (part of the old longford f1 track) Hopefully have the new car running by not this w/e, but next, but I'm not being to optomistic.
-
I think you think I'm winging or something because I'm not on the top of the list anymore!! :) All I trying to do is make suggestions to make the categries a bit fairer!! to be honest, couldn't care if I was on the bottom of the list! I mean like really, forget about the badge on the top of the engine for a minute, and think, how can a ke35 with a CA18DET be classed as a "cross breed" but say a ke10 with a 4AGTE (theres one in tassie) is not!! I think what I suggest about the k-series, t-series, a-series etc was a good idea. and its not going to put me any further up the list either!! Nor is it going to add any more categries to that list. I Just think the whole concept of a "cross breed" and the clasification of the lists needs a little more thought. :P as far as comparing forced induction cars to NA cars, its not whats strapped to the side of it, but more so what inside it, and the way that it is built to make power!! just because something is turbo'd doesn't mean its going to be any faster than a NA version of that engine!! :D A really good example of this is the fact that brendo's NA 3k ke10 is nearly 2 second (which equates to nearly 100m on a drag strip!!) quicker than my turbo'd 4k! :hmm: When I come to think about it, I am comparing apples with apples, but I'm comparing the 100's of different types of apples available, not just one granny smith against another granny smith! So basically what I'm suggesting is we have 3 class, as we do now: 1, Apples 2, "genetically modified" apples 3, rest of the fruit salad! ??????
-
yeah but how can you compare a K to GZE fairly!?
-
have said that.....I think it does need to be changed again. as far as I'm concerned, foxtails 4AGZE is a cross breed!! How about this: for it not to be a cross breed, it has to have the same engine designation to body type, ie ke10-ke70 with 3k,4k,5k's....ae71-ae92 etc with 4ac, 4afe, 4age, 4agze. but then saying a 4ac has the same bottom end as a 4agze is also not correct??????
