  1. I would be putting in another stock diff and spend my money elsewhere (Coilovers etc)
  2. How much power are you making and what do you use the car for?
  3. Ascension. I've always wondered why the clutch was such a trooper through abuse - turns out the old owner popped an Exedy clutch in there when doing the conversion and never told me. Sidchrome supplied the most expensive washers of all time to put the 4AGE on the engine stand. This is the first time I've used the imperial sockets. Now I can get started pulling it all apart - hopefully the head is still good.
  4. Got started last night. Just need to borrow a crane off a mate to get the sucker out.
  5. If you're modifying bumpers to fit you're better off getting cheap repro chrome bars welding mounts on to them IMO. Even if you go a sketchy job mounting bars made to suit they'll still look better than bars that don't suit anyway. Or take the red pill and go where no E7 owner has gone before - save up for genuine chrome bars.
  6. Mods like this make me happier than go-fast ones most of the time! They make the car that much better to own!
  7. I really didn't expect you to own this thing as long as you have! Great to see a unique 33 for a change.
  8. I sat there with a fabricating buddy trying to work out how much this car would be worth if you contracted them to build it - gave up after a few hundred hours of wages. Didn't even make a start on materials. He ended up just quoting 3 years pay upfront to keep that standard of work.
  9. Keen on an update for this one!
  10. After three and a half years of daily abuse - it's blown up. They have some super fun freeway entrances down here with seemingly kilometre long sweeping corners, so of course I smash it around those like I've got a Rally to get to. As I came out of the bend and put the foot down it popped. Cylinder 2 is down to 30psi. On the bright side I've been crying for a project or something since I moved here so at least the Mrs can actually tell me to ʞ©$ɟ off to the garage. I bought a new daily (TDI Golf - 1100kms to a tank, thanks for coming) I spent a few weeks trying to source either a 20v, SR20 or Beams trying to get rid of the cash burning a hole in my pocket but I've decided to build the big-port if it's still good - I'll get it out of the car and take the head off in the next couple of weeks. Sarah (Misso) told me I have to document it all so I don't let it sit for 5 years. So here goes.
  11. Belated - Cheers man! It's been cold! Unfortunately not, I miss riding pretty badly. Although the three week long riding season down here is already coming to an end. I might buy a grom or something to get in and out of the city easily pretty soon though :D.
  12. +1 for AJPS Panhard Rods - mine has been perfect for the price.
  13. In a system like mine (Stock master cylinder, AE86 JDM front and T-series drum rear) I haven't noticed a difference at all, and my rubber lines were pretty rooted! Maybe in a larger systems it might make a noticeable difference, but something like this with small single pot calipers it's done bugger all. You might be on to something with people having to bleed their systems when changing gear over!
  14. She made the trip Queensland --> Melbourne without a hiccup again. Poor thing has done it a couple of times now. I then proceeded to break it pulling in to the driveway when we arrived. Extractors hit the driveway reversing in which created a pretty epic exhaust leak at the head. So I replaced it all with a new 4-2-1 and 2 1/4" system that seems to work pretty well. A friend then had a minor incident in it that called for a wheel alignment so while I was there I put new braided brake lines in the front, doesn't seem to make a difference at all but future proofs the system I suppose! The T series diff I threw in is started to get a little bit grumpy so I am going to start looking for an LSD centre and disc brake upgrade if I can find one on the cheap. Other than that she's doing well! Joined the Toyota Car Club of Victoria now to try to get it out a little bit more and might put it on some club reg. Also bought a new daily when I got here. MCV20R Touring Camry - super lame/cool thing. Manual V6 which seems to be pretty rare - I think the clutch slave is on the way out but for $400 with rego I cannot complain! I'll slap up a picture or two when I can.
  15. Rip it all out and 4AGE it.
  16. Looks to have pretty minimal rust. Good platform to build up.
  17. Kids my age in the car scene. I'm sure it's not just the youngens, but I'm sick and tired of being ʞ©$ɟed around - it almost seems to be a Corolla specific issue! I've had a bunch of different vehicles come by now, motorbikes, Cressida's, Subaru's, Nissan's... whenever it's some younger dude with something Corolla related it's the biggest pain in the arse getting lied to and ʞ©$ɟed about. I'm on a pretty good wicket these days but I understand it's tough with cars when funds are limited but there is absolutely no excuse to be a complete ʞ©$ɟbag to other people in the community. ____________ Just settled and read the posts above. Maybe it is just the youngens :D. Sorry lads!
  18. That's in bonkers condition! Will be incredible with some tasteful mods.
  19. Gearbox might not fit but the engine sure does look pretty.
  20. I viewed this car while it was up for sale, needs a bit of work but a decent base to start with.
  21. Depending on what state you reside in there's a very high chance that you won't be allowed to drive a vehicle that has been engine-swapped. I would started by checking this information before hunting any type of build information. :) By 17 as driving age you may be from Queensland in which case Highway Patrol will happily go balls deep with no lube for driving an engine-swapped car.
  22. Oh and also repainting the exhaust.
  23. To think I thought bikes might end up being complicated. 2 Bolts, 3 hoses tank off. Drank a little 95 octane siphoning it out like a rookie, will be buying pump after that unpleasantness. Filling and priming the other tank Old rooted tank, notice dint in left side. Rip in seat These were chrome as in top picture, now much nicer Bonus picture of my other AE71, this one is 4AGZE powered. and will be getting sold soon. I've had it 6 months and driving it sub 6 times.
  24. Rolled by rear guards a little to stop scrapping on the bigger rear wheels. There's a bit more rust than I thought :(. Amazing how quickly a couple of years of a car being on the coast can ʞ©$ɟ a car. Paint is also starting to get pretty sad, bought a clay bar kit to see how much I can clean it up. Don't like my chances too much.
  25. Now fully licensed. Going to start cleaning this thing up a bit to get ready for sells. Funnily enough pretty much exclusively looking at LAMS bikes for an upgrade. Triumph Street Triple or the Yamaha MT07 (Really want the XRS700 but I don't think AUS is getting them). Will post up the photos for progress. Seat has a small tear in the seat that needs fixing, never done any upholstery stuff before, I'll get quoted for a fix and see if it's worth getting someone else to do. Extractors need to be painted up again, weren't very well coated by the old owner. I have another tank to paint up and pop on as the current one has a decent ding in it.
