Nooooo had the rolla on the dyno last night!! Made near enough 80wrkw 79.6 to be exact @6650rpm and only 8psi(should be more like 12). The only problem is that the std fuel reg is not up to scracth and is real lean. So unfortunatlly i wont be able to make it. stu.

Isnt it 20% for first name 20% for surname Thats 40% sorted. stu.
-
Are you guuna have your ticket back for this mate? Spewing we wont see the awesomest ke-70 ever!!!! stu.
-
I have just got off the phone with the organiser then. They would PREFER pre 80`s classics!! so we will have to try to keep the later models to a MIN. Well as stated gates open 8:30 and we would want a good spot, so we would need to leave early. I was thinking of meeting around Pakenham area at about 7-7:30am for the 1 3/4hr trip to maffra. i will do a prerun to check meet points later this week. MORE TO COME.. st

Anyone Mechanics In Melb Who Know 4age's Inside Out
kickn5k replied to GZE82's topic in VIC / Melbourne
IC&E ignitions are the s%^t man and you have paid for top quality gear!!! so unless it wasn`t wired in right it SHOULD be pretty close to bang on. Lb and i were talking earlier and both thought of the same thing at the same time. What fuel setup are you using? and what pressure is it at as Weber/Dellorto type carbs REALLY dislike any more than 3.5psi. -

Yeah man my car whent in there once in the 2 years i have had it on the road. Was still pretty close to bang on when i put the EFI on. Sadlly he"Gerald" WILL NOT tune EFI so unfortunatlly i have had to find somewhere else. If i ever put the carbs back on I'm back there in a flash!! -

quote name='GZE82' date='Nov 10 2008, 05:43 PM' post='288734'] Hi, Mammi motors in sommerville know there carbs inside out, They have a dyno and for the service you get are bulls$%t cheap last time i had mine tuned before i went EFI was $60 an hour plus GST and plus parts but that was 18 months ago. The number is (03) 5977-7973 If you are using either Weber or knockoff carbs then they are the place for you, have a large selection of spares and jets etc. You wont be disappointed. stu -
Amen to that!!!! :) Looking good Mick. Are we going to see the 25 at the GOR? You are seriously going to want to take the old 5K beast for a drive this year, coming with GOODIES!!!! stu.

I was not too sure on it for a positive displacement S/C as it(calculations) asks for a max rpm. Seeing as boost only climbs maybe 0.5-1psi from 2,000-6,000+ with my setup. In saying that though, once i work out how pulley ratio effects size etc. i`ll work it out backwards. The calculations are very handy in working out how hard the engine can be reved with the blower on, but as my sc/12 only cost me $50 I'm not too scared to torch it in the quest for more boost and power. stu.
-
Yeah it is a positive dispalcement. I wrote it wrong. I meant i have my setup to work out, aswell as a centrifical setup on a v8 that if this calculation works with would help heaps. I`ll have to get the paxton specs of capa. But if there prices on brackets etc are anything to go by the specs will cost me $100+. Quoted $895 for the bracket for 355 holden, bunch of jokers!! stu.
-
I measured the sigma pulley today for the sc side and it is 112mm minor dia and 135mm major dia. I`ll measure the ribbed pulley tomoz when i get a chance to pull it out of the shed, And i`ll try to measure the crank pulley aswell. hope that helps stu. kryton brown, Are these calcs for a positive displacement S/C or a centrifical S/C? Just asking as I'm helping a mate build his paxton(centrifical S/C) fed 355 holden. aswell as my sc/12 5K.

I vote 1 "Kermit" Ke10girl`s little beast!!!!!(gotta represent the KE-1x as mine isnt as shmick as hers!!) Also Matt`s big block beast!! stu.
-
Nah mate its fixed from what i hear. Which sucks as i was going to bring a fry pan to cook breakfast on. Ted you planning on hitching a ride some of the way in my old girl? it wont scrub if we go inland haha stu.
-
I will be measuring everything for you tomorrow and ill take a couple of pis off it all close up aswell. The only draw back i could think of would be if you wanted to run an intercooler, and you had a backfire with fuel in the cooler it would make for a rather large bang!! stu.

And i`ll also have the details up for the all jap day in maffra soon to it is in dec. Just have been a little busy the last couple of weeks. stu.

There is a classic celica cruise next weekend starts at lilydale lake. Seriouslly recomend it they are a great bunch of guys and put on a really good day out. I was going to take the rolla but only if i have the few things that concern me fixed. oh and i have a wedding the nght before. stu.
-
Its sort of fixed i have plumbed it back into the inlet of the sc it stops the hiss at idle but its still reasonably loudish but at least its plumbed back. I havent had a chance to measure my pulley setup yet. But have been thinking if its used on a 4k being less in capacity it will probably make more than the 5psi I'm making maybe about 8 i think. I have also found the spare rib belt pulley welded to the early 4k balancer that came with all the bits i bought ill measure the vbelt pulley size but the ribbed pulley is quite small so it may work for you. If you can use it pay for the postage c.o.d and its yours. stu.
-
No sorry i didnt get a chance to read that, but will now. I turned the back pulley off to get a better spacing, then i ground out the 3 rivets on the sc/12 clutch bit with the spline in it. Drilled and tapped the sigma pulley and bolted it all up. so now i only have 1 pulley on it. Ill be making an alum one as soon as i can find a suitable peice of billet. stu.

How much boost do you whant to run? I don't see this as such a good idea as the over/underdrive of the sc controls the boost pressure(pulley ratio) why spin the S/C hard and vent the boost out when you can put a smaller pulley on the crank or bigger on the S/C. But thats just my opinion. I have nearly finnished doing a blow through efi setup on my 5K. i have converted the sc12 pulley to v-belt as i had a aircon pulley on my balancer already , i modified a sigma aircon pump pulley and bolted that to the sc12 center hub. on a test run on the weekend it made 4 - 4.5 psi depending in the gear i was in. but i may have a leak or two as i havent finnished off the plumbing properlly yet. One BIG draw back with a blow through setup is the need for a blow off valve which after two laps around the block vented out gave me the s*&ts big time so ill run it back in before the S/C. Good luck with it all, its worth all the stress for sure even on 4psi i had a masive grin on my face. stu.

I would say the cam MIGHT be ok for boost(i am unsure of its specs though). If it is big power your after then id go a regrind cam for boost."just my two cents worth" There are a few cam grinders around that can do that for you. I use Clive Cams in VIC there number is (03) 9758 - 5977 or you could try Wade(VIC) or Tige cams(QLD) I don't have there contact deatails but they both have comprehensive web site. I have used all three and all are great to deal with. i just use Clive as he is prepared to get a little more custom on grinds than the others. Hope that helps. stu. p.s. Thanks for that info Matt i guessed about 8.6 : 1 without measuring the pistons so i supose i was pretty close.

Cruise - Diamond Creek - Blackspur - Marysville (new Route) - Lillydal
kickn5k replied to Bowler's topic in VIC / Melbourne
Are you trying too play at words dave? zzzzzzzzzzzz is about right though haha! should be done (I F@*%ING HOPE SO) for the CCCV cruise next month. stu. -
Is it a hyraulic cam or have you changed to a solid cam setup? as i have a mild CROW CAMS hydro that i pulled out to do my sc setup. It wasnt too nasty and had a calm idle and a heap of torque down low. What I'm using thanks to the advice of TAZ RX and MADROLLA68 is a std 5K bottom end with 4K flat top piston head, a 4k CLIVE CAMS regrind cam, CHEV/HOLDEN v8 lifters,4k adj rockers and datsun A12 pushrods(thanks kangaroosa!!).Intake wise i have a 7K-E efi manifold, prehistoric Microtech D5 fuel only ecu and sc/12 supercharger. Not too sure what that works out compression wise but i know just from looking that there would be around 15-20cc difference in the head chamber may help your compression problem. I hope too have the sc on soon, but at moment its just low comp N/A too iron out any bugs. I`ll update my rides thread when its done and dyno`d. Good luck solving your problems, mine have only to start. stu.

I am going to have to pull out of this one sorry guys  For those that got a chance to get a preview of half of the setup I'm doing on my old rolla at the gokarts(or allready know), iam still working on brackets from then i`ll be waiting on my mate with some alloy welding and pipe work with the last thing a tune then I'm done. For those who didnt go to the karts will have to wait untill its done or i get enough time to load up my photos and update my rides thread sorry. Yes I'm trying to keep everything under raps untill its done, just want to make sure it all works first. hope it ends up being a good day. stu. -
I will put up my hand to organise a cruise to this event and will get in contact with the orgaiser of the event this week to find out a bit more info what it is about. and have some info up really soon. stu.
