Spotted a SWEET ke17 sl sprinter last weekend at center rd wreckers and stumbled across the owner "homerske17". Wow it is a very clean example. It seems to be the one I see every now and then. It's good to meet other ke-1x owners. What really pissed me off was that I was going to take the rolla out that day but didn't for some stupid reason.

This ones for Tate and Alex. Spotted a real neat biege mx65 crown, at a local hot rod and classic meet we have once a month on the peninsula. Ooooops forgot to mention it was small block ford powered!! I should have a couple of shots uploaded tomoz. Crown + ford v8 = WIN Also i know its neither toyota or toyota powered, but there was a overrated orange SYC Yenko 427(camaro). oh and a sweet ae82 twinky seca with wheels etc. oh wait i was in that car cheers webers! stu.

More importantly now that he`s going to give me a roasting, who is going to bring up a bucket load of spare carby parts? The 1600 might be close to being done but its all abit close to chrissy hols and we`ll see if the car gods align the moons so that its finished and the engineer isnt busy so its all legit in time. The rolla I'm about to pull apart, so I'm at the mercy of my head bloke, tuner ect. May have to bring the rolla if its done cause if what me and webers think she maybe making more boost and power next year ;) But it will ony be a day trip as I'm gonig to spend chrissy at Mt Buller trying to brake myself or my bike  i couldn`t go last year as i had broken ribs from a chrissy brake up go-kart accident :y: stu.

Forged Pistons - Whats Best - Cp - Je- Wiseco?
kickn5k replied to LittleRedSpirit's topic in Automotive Discussion
I would say the failures ive seen have had nothting to do with tune issues. It has been cracks coming up from the bott of skirt and ovalised pins and shrinking skirt sizes. From both CP and Wiseco pistons. Cracks come from sharp edges and the oval pins and shrinking shirts(only on big boost turbo engines) are from not being made beefy enough for the application. Not really an issue in your high comp aplication. JE`s are nice but all of these brands are MASS produced so if they don't have a high comp on shelf piston its a custom made jobby which would be more like $1000-$1200. And if they arrive and they are not spot on for your task bad luck. Special Piston services in Vic make custom forged pistons. Can make 7.0:1-13:1 comp and change comp height for longer rods etc. They are not cheap though around the $1250 mark. the ph no is (03) 9793-1110 hope that helps. -
Yes my car was toatally different car to drive depending on what dashpot oil i used. None = snappy throttle response but poor economy. Auto trans fluid = good throttle response and reasonable economy. Penrite dashpot oil = best of all!!!!! Back to topic su`s sound awesome and you will get really good economy for a set of twins. But I'm with felix get it tuned properly with a good air filter, will save you a bit of cashola untill you can mod the old 4k to get the full benefit of the twins. p.s. don't i repeat don't use the datto su knockoffs they are more headache than they are worth!!! I ran a set of english su`s for over 2 years and only needed the setup tune and that was it. A mate has a set of jap ones on his datto and seems to need a tune about once a month. stu.

Hiroshima Screamer Cruise! Re-run 1st November
kickn5k replied to Spoolin's topic in VIC / Melbourne
:bash:Why do i continue to leave the 11 sitting in the shed with a dead batt and work on dads FJ20t datto 1600??? I WAS usually the only KE-1X bloke at cruises. Then i whent a bit tooooo far. :jamie: But when i finally get the Batt charge setup sorted i`ll be attending a heap more cruises!! May still attend the first meet point in dads datto before it gets pulled for the conversion. but only bout 50% on that. GO SAINTERS!!!!!!!!! stu. -
Ooooh looking sweet si. Aim high vagen!! go for a big cam and heaps of boost!! Although not the most driveable or fuel efficient my 5k makes high 90`s rwkw on a baby 8.5psi(aiming for 12ish) with a sc12 and efi. Go easy on the changes and burnouts and the gearbox might last a little while. Boosted "k`s" rule. stu.

Hiroshima Screamer Cruise! Re-run 1st November
kickn5k replied to Spoolin's topic in VIC / Melbourne
I don't know how you have tires on the back of your car with all the g/boxs you smash mate!!! :) Now i know why your so keen for it to be as soon as pos so you`ll still have a box by then. I still don't know why mine is still alive  must be fact that its spends more time off the road than on. Dads datoo 1600"The tennis ball" was wheel aligned and tuned today. News wasnt that great the motor is a bit smokey and tired so its off for rego friday. Now looking for a L18 to build a cracker to keep it going for 8-12months while he saves for all the sr20det conversion gear and hottie bits. stu. -

kickn5k replied to Spoolin's topic in VIC / Melbourne
Your not wrong!! Easy Matt contain the excitement. "spoolin" i have two to sort out before the meet so i have to work twice as hard as most. I`ll be there in my ke11 and my dad will tag along with the datto boys in his newlly purchased 1600. As usual fingers crossed!! stu. -

I prefer LC`s as they don't look like a baby HQ, close enough though. Torries are probably the most wierd car to drive as the steering wheel feels like its in the pass seat. Still hella cool. Those cossie merc`s are a weapon for there age! Webers4x48 and i have a good mate with a non EVO cossie 190. It is a jet. My dads new datto 1600 "the tennis ball" is pretty cool, even with the L16 in it.

Tocau National Meet! June 6th - 8th [melb]
kickn5k replied to BlindKidSeeks's topic in VIC / Melbourne
Spewin i missed it! I had finnished the KE-70 Internal reg alternater in my car at about 5pm last night :bash: So much for a staight for bolt in. Wiring was quick and easy. But getting it to fit in an allready overfull engine bay has been a nightmare, had to change bott rad hose to clear everything. Now i need a new battery as this one is not holding charge. Congrats to Dave and Matt. stu. -

Use a 4K or 5K bowl top piston bottom end, 3K or early 4K flat top piston head(is about 18-20cc larger in chamber) to lower comp. I prefer efi to carb with boost but a carb will work well still. I put a full price list of my budget efi sc/12 setup on my rides thread. Was about $1300 all up, cheap way to double the power!!!! I`m still a big fan of large cams though it made a big improvement on my car. Sounds like a ported rotary at idle  stu.

Hah 12L/100km I WISH!! With 1 1/2" su`s my 5k,mild cam, extractors would run on the smell of an oily rag(ask"TEDDY"). It was 8L/100km at worst from memory. But now its a different story its more like 16.5-17L/100km taking it easy. Its making twice the power so i can accept twice the fuel. Gotta love boost referenced rising rate fuel reg`s and 15 plus year old rotary desinged ECU. stu.

Should have some realistic torque figures within the nexts two weeks. Toymods have a dyno day on! The dyno that will be used is a different brand to the one i use, so we will see.
