  1. Thought you had a 5k Evan. Yeah it would be more money to bore the block for the hydro lifters than it would be to buy a minter 5k but I'd belive it's posible. Oh yeah back to topic. Colin72 is right the hydro lifters can be pushed hard and I would have kept mine but had no choice as I'm using the large chamber 4k head and my pushrods were too short. On the induction front I've used su's on mine and in my opinion sound as good but different than the dcoe type carbs. Su manifolds are hard to find and the jap su copies are garbage. DCOE type carbs(weber, dellorto and solex) are all good things but can be expensive to setup. But if your asking about induction on a k motor I'm fairly biased for me it's all about boost!!! Stu.
  2. If it sounds like it's got a lumpy cam and you don't it's way too rich. Don't know much about the DCOE type carbs mainly the su's for me so I can't offer you an exlanation on how to lean it off. What do you mean by mod plates? Aren't you from Vic? If your going to be doing a 4agze conversion leave well alone if you've got it running ok then. don't need to waste anymore coin on the 4k. Stu.
  3. Not sure whether the build is awesome, epic or both.hehe trick with those eBay repro indicators(late model ones) which I would imagine are different to yours, is to use the original surrounds but rechrome them and then use the rest if the repro stuff. I've gone more for the zoom mag theory "putting the go before show" with my 11 for the last 6 years but since the manifold bloke moved in next door to work and has shown me that it doesn't take too much effort to get a show quality engine bay with my turbo setup. Which means the rest of the car inside and out needs be the same quality. A build not too unlike yours is now on the cards. Keep up the high quality work and thanks for the motavation to pull my car apart when I've got the new driveline sorted and try and make it as overrated as this beast.
  4. anteKE I've always thought a ke1x group nc car would be a good fun thing to run. Brian Sampson(not sure of the other drivers name) won the class at Bathurst in a ke10(think it was called the "excitement machine"). From what I've been able to dig up about the car from the guy who made the manifolds for it. That it was an uprighted and dry sumped "k" motor that made in the vacinity of 130odd hp. What sort of freedoms do you have with suspension and brakes? Pretty sure as I have a master cylinder from one that ke1x were available with disk front end which could be used in your favour. Stu.
  5. Oh yeah that 4 door is sssoooo sweet!! Rarer here than a sprinter therefore I want one. Those enkei's look awesome mate. Where are you from? Stu.
  6. Such a nice "sev" you have mate. Love the beige it's very period. Just a thought but a satin silver to match the superlights would in my opinion be a good choice. But that's just my opinion. Keep up the good work. Stu.
  7. Best I've used is VHT "copper gasket". It comes in a pressure pack so you don't even get your hands dirty. Fixed webers4x48's poorly machined 308 head the night before easternats a treat. From memory that thing was 11.2:1 before we bumped it a bit more and now new engine runs none at all. I only use it on MLS gaskets now. Stu.
  8. Ridgecrest engineering? If so are they expensive? What comp does that give you? Best thing copper gaskets are re usable not going to have to buy one for a while. Stu.
  9. Vics most famous crown!!! Spotted in a very recent publication. Haha Photos came out awrsome Tate. stu.
  10. sorry forgot to post up bigport specs over the weekend. My bigport head is 24.5cc the other 4k head had no valves in it so grabbed em this morning and I'll cc it today. Stu.
  11. I'll cc my bigport tomoz as it's at work and I'll post it up for you. It looks like it's about half the difference between my flat top piston 4k head and my 10.2:1 with the big dish piston 5k head(by eye). I also have a big chamber head at work so while I've got the burrete out I'll check that too. Stu.
  12. Are your pistons out of the engine? I could knock enough out of the bowls of the pistons for you to get it right. Would end up as a round bowl not a d shape which I could do but I doubt I'd get enough out of em. If your interested let me know. Also you could try ridgecrest engineering in Vic they do a 2mm copper gasket. On the spacer + gasket I wouldn't be keen to do it to my engine but doing what I do I don't need to worry I just fix it properlly.
  13. Man just run it on e85 it will be off tap. To measure static C/R you need 2 things: Swept volume : the area of the bore when piston is at bott of stroke to get that. Bore x bore x .7854(pie) x stroke devide 1000 = sv in cc's Clearance volume : volume of head chamber, compressed head gasket and piston chamber added together. Then it's just: sv + cv devide by cv = static comp stu.
  14. She was white with black steelies and the usual hot rodder/custom Mexican blanket front bench seat. Reasonably straightish but real good for a "66" model. Stu.
  15. Evan that's gold!!!! Both of them. Adam did you not see the early model crown ute? Tate was saying by the crappy iPhone photo I showed him that it was prob a "40" series. It was parked over from the 1uzfe powered 2 door Volvo. Great day ttooooo many cars to see all of em. Stu.
  16. Nah mate that's Matt's hat he won princess has the tiara to match. Catch you tonight mate. Stu.
  17. Will be there although won't be in Godfrey, will be fat arming JDM as f$&k lol. Those who have seen it know what I'm talking about. Stu.
  18. Oops double post bloody iPhone.
  19. From memory Teddy stuffed up and came down a week early for the GOR didn't he? Haha free accomo for a week polishing who got the better deal? If you paint the bay when motor gets done I'll nominate this for rcoty. Stu.
  20. Well bout time for a bit of a rides thread poz. You've had those photos for a long time mate. Been getting to spy on this last resto every now and then and it's ssooooo much better in person. Not one bit sets it apart not the flares, wheels, stance, carbon bits or colour, it's more like everything works together for the sickest ke55 I've seen period!! Hehe Get some cans and I'll come and do the donk for ya even though it's a dirty datto engine. Stu.
  21. Hey just checked part number on the spare uni I have and it's a heavy duty Holden 6 one. Sorry bout the confusion. You'll prob find they are cheaper at a bearing shop too. Stu.
  22. I'm thinking its an import box. Considering the clutch plate I'm using had to be made and my brake and clutch guy said it is the same spline as a celica box. Also my setup makes awesome torque and still haven't smashed one yet. As Jarrad said I'm pretty easy on g/boxes. But still torque is torque and I would have thought I would have stripped an imput shaft like 7k matt has done numerous times by now. Bugger all ribs you say Ryan? Thanks for that I'll slide under it today and compare to the other 2 k50's I have. That will explain it once and for all. Stu.
  23. Seems your doing all the right things. Holden 6 unis should be better, it still has me wondering why they are spitting so quicklly though. I'm thinking you may have just copped a bad batch of unis. Hope you get on top of it soon. Stu.
  24. Wow how many unis is that now? Very nice wags mate, I thought this was a van until raven and webers4x48 pointed it out at webers place after GOR. Can't argue about the reliabilty of the old girl with a near 2200km round trip. Getting back to your uni joints. Are you packing them with grease? The grease they use is like running none at all. I'm using the heavy duty ones behind my 5kz with 98rwkw and are now 6yr old. My 11 is a bit lighter than your 38 which helps too. Stu.
  25. One of the best examples I've seen for a while. Good to catch up at Leeroy and philps the other night too. Man this will be the awesome with the cooler. I think it needs a massive rolla turbo and around 20psi of boost. Stu.
