  1. I'll sell ya one! ;) You put a ride thread on that bad boy Sznaps? Would love to see more.
  2. No facebook link and what was your previous username if you've been here for 4 years? Not being narky, just wondering.
  3. They actually have cam billets for K motors? What specs are you having a go with?
  4. Finally got an action shot! I've just realised that I'm two rounds behind in posting. Both rounds were state rounds. There aren't a whole of people in my class so I did pretty well. First round I won due to attrition, and it looks like it might be the case for the second round too! Second round was very rough. I ended up sharing my car with some guys that turned up with a completely gutted excel which the scrutineers were having trouble accepting to run. They were allowed eventually, but it took a while. Then they busted the radiator and ended up in my car again. Sadly, I think that was a bit much for it and on the way home it popped the cap off the overflow and emptied all the coolant. It had been using a bit of coolant during the day and I think having that many runs put into it finished it off. I tried to refill it a few times, but sadly it got hot enough to temporarily seize, so it came home on a trailer the following day. I'll have to inspect the spare motor and look at putting that in before start of season next year. Still, she got me to the end of the event which I think I may have won again through attrition! The picture is the result of an end of the day "lets do the biggest skid we can on the final corner comp". As you can see by the angle, I was never going to make it :)
  5. They're big! That's really it. Ports at the manifold face are 30mm wide, vs around 25mm for most other K heads.
  6. No doubt. As I said, my philosophy probably differs!
  7. It's more anti reversion, but if the ports are smaller than the extractors this is a good thing. Exhausts are fairly complex for a bunch of tubes and there is a pressure wave that is generated when there is a change in size of the exhaust (i.e. at the collector) which travels toward the head and can help to push burnt mixture back into the cylinder. Having a miss match reduces this effect. I've read that if you can line up the top of the extracts with the top of the port and then have a larger miss match at the bottom that's the way to go.
  8. I'd imagine it would have wiring, some sort of sensor and breaker plate to bolt into your current dizzy.
  9. Previous owner of my car which came with the same setup removed those bits with an angle grinder. Crap job done, the disc is too big and whoever did it over shot leaving a gap to the outside which they then fixed with silicon. Get yourself a die grinding bit if you can. Even if you put it in a power drill you should be able to do a pretty neat job. See if you an get a bit designed for ally as it won't clog as much. I wouldn't be too worried about the whole turbulence thing, I doubt it helps and even if it had been designed in there it would have been for the carb that you've just ditched. Clear it out, get it tuned when all the mods are done and you should be a happy camper.
  10. Sorry, but that is where my philosophy differs, paying 5 times what I paid for my last 4K plus gearbox? Pass :)
  11. Looks very much like a Denso to me. In a '55 right? Bosch units don't have the knob on them to adjust timing depending on fuel grade (clear cover over it).
  12. Mmmm, Kameari, so pretty! If only I could justify that on K.
  13. Black cap, usually say BOSCH on them somewhere.
  14. Yeah, budget and aim would be the best start.
  15. Ah rally cars, they can always tell a story! Look forward to seeing a bit of info about how you do your prep! Good luck.
  16. Most tests that I've seen seem to back K&N as filters that keep a high level for performance for a long time. If it was going to keep the setup for a while I reckon I'd go for K&N
  17. Hey, you don't need to tell me! Interstate, OS, broken bones, broken bikes and a walking 1 year old here. Consider the above posts a friendly "I'd love to see this turn out" nudge :) Good luck.
  18. KE's are such fun khana cars. Keep up the good work :)
  19. Assuming this project hasn't stalled: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Corolla-Roller-Rockers-KE10-KE15-KE17-KE20-KE30-KE70-3K-4K-5K-7K-/271087549410?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f1e13bbe2#ht_500wt_1194
  20. Just a heads up. The current Race magazine has an article about an IPRA Datsun 1200 running a turbo A12 which may be good for stealing ideas from. Apparently it's unreasonably quick. The version 2 motor has a CBR1100 16v head bolted to it! The website for the magazine is www.racemagazine.com.au, it's usually pretty out of date though.
  21. About time! That should help :)
  22. Yeah, just to make sure no one thinks I'm totally dodgy, I drilled the appropriate holes in some RHS to mount them to before putting them in the vice :)
  23. The TE72 struts that I stripped down were the same. They looked like they needed a pin spanner, but they were actually just pressed in. I think there may have been a rubber seal which made them feel a little more stubborn. I put the strut in a vice, the top cap back on and then did a "sliding hammer action" to get them out. Didn't take too much persuasion.
  24. Are you looking to do a half upright? :)
  25. That's why so many tourists get hurt :) Try Cambodia, that's something else!
