  1. Does any body know how much they're actually worth in terms of increased horsepower and rev ability? Is this silly money better spent somewhere else?
  2. Vids or it didn't happen :) Those first guys are completely nuts. I can only assume the turbo is in the cabin to keep them warm.
  3. Holy crap, those roller rockers have cracked $1K! If you have the means, you (or someone) should manufacture a batch and sell some to fund the build! ;)
  4. Love it :)
  5. It's up to you!
  6. I'm super happy to help if I can. This is the sort of stuff I'd be doing if I had the time and equipment, but for now, I'm happy to live vicariously :)
  7. Shame about the roll, good luck with the build. You're inspiring me with the '70 :)
  8. I remember reading somewhere, an interview with one of the American cam guys, maybe Isky? One of the things he talked about with the development of roller rockers was the problems that they had with the cams pushing out the front or the backs of the blocks and wearing everything out really quickly. They had to go do great lengths to ensure that everything was square and also to ensure that the cam was well retained. I can't remember the details, I'll have to see if I can hunt down the article again. Edit: http://www.iskycams.com/camwalk.php Doesn't look like a difficult fix if you're about to do some fab work.
  9. I'll just leave this here. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Corolla-Roller-Rockers-KE10-KE15-KE17-KE20-KE30-KE70-3K-4K-5K-7K-/261098975905?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3ccab632a1#ht_500wt_1192
  10. Awesome, if you can source bits from a similar application that are already engineered that saves a whole lot of work. This little project looks to be shaping up quite nicely :)
  11. I don't think there is a difference with roller rockers? I'm pretty sure the ball top remains, but you'd be having a roller on the valve end so that it rolls across the valve stem top rather than wiping it. There would be more to gain here as the valve is fixed, whereas the push rod can move with the arc of the rocker. These movements are quite small so the gain would be minimal compared to the roller on the valve. Rollers on the lifters would also be good, but you don't have a hell of a lot of space to do that. I'd be thinking they'd be custom and you'd need shorter push rods as the cup height in the lifter would have to be raised to clear the roller. I'm also not sure how much space you have there to fit the necessary devices to ensure that they don't turn. I wonder if there is sufficient bore to actually enlarge the lifter holes? Maybe something from another motor could be adapted? Once again, I'm interested to see what you come up with :)
  12. I wouldn't have done it either, glad you survived though! I'm not sure it actually proves anything to anyone else reading, I still wouldn't "try it at home" :)
  13. Thanks for the heads up!
  14. I think that pretty much sums up this entire build :P
  15. You'd think if you're advertising for that sort of money you could put up pictures better than those from a mobile phone :P
  16. Interesting, I look forward to hearing how it goes! :)
  17. Yeah, bore on the carbs
  18. Nice, I like your idea of using the manifold. How big are they bore wise? P.S. 0.5mm is 20 thou
  19. Another watching with interest. I'd be keen to see how you're intending to get it to survive over 10k, I don't think I've heard of it being done before?
  20. Looking forward to it. What carbs did you go for?
  21. F*&k, I feel for you! Still, shouldn't be too hard to find a cheap shell, just will be a lot of work. It seemed like it tipped pretty easy though, did anything else break before hand? That seemed like a pretty open and fast khana course too, the straights are supposed to be less than 100m? Good luck with it all, hope you're back out sooner rather than later!
  22. Oh yeah? Is there details around of that setup?
  23. Bike carbs! Tidy little low budget project though, keep it up! I'm inspired by low budget projects, as all my money has recently vanished too :)
  24. Wow, nice!
  25. I think if you're worried about the 4AGE legality then you should be equally worried about turbo/supercharging. You've pretty much listed them in order of expense and difficultly. How much do you want to invest in the car and what do you want from it? As you've got a lot of the supporting mods already I reckon the 5K would be worthwhile. It shouldn't attract too much attention. Maybe cam and head work that.
