  1. To make a 16V make top end power like a 20V, and that beautiful bark of open quad's you need cams - $700, valve springs $200, re-shim $300, quad adapter plate $250, quads $200, porting $up to you. Geez you've just spent more than the cost of a blacktop :D I've been in some car's running 16 valves that go like the clappers, but the 20V does it out of the box. I think bad tuners have given them a name.
  2. You can get the TRD LSD's pretty easy from yahoo auctions japan. I've seen atleast 6 in the last 4 months. There's 2 atm too, and 1 is brand new! Maybe I should score a few when I get some more parts over, I wonder if they'd sell. KP61 LSD KP61 LSD new
  3. I smell progress. Looking awesome trev :hmm: So how much did it end up costing you to fix the input shaft bearing on the rig?
  4. Wow, that has to be one of the best looking restored TE72's around. If you like corners I'd steer away from the the 1UZ path, otherwise if its legal where you are go for it :D
  5. Being a panel van you'll have leaf springs, you'll need to cut off the mounts and have them grafted onto any T series carrier you find. I'd get a the housing before the center. The big axels are from the late model AE86 JDM vehicles or AE92 tercels. Can be difficult to find at times. The earlier T series diffs are all small axel diffs.
  6. You can use any 4AGE dizzy with most aftermarket ECU's, in full sequential, wasted spark or single coil, its all about how you configure the ecu and which one you use. The only difference between a 4AGZE CAS and a 100kw dizzy is the top cover and the plug. Autronic's are a great ecu, you'll have enough igniter control to go full sequential on the ignition. The neatest way by far is using COP (Coil over plug) coils of a 1ZZ toyota corolla, they look neat as when installed, and end up saving you money because you won't need any custom leads what so ever.
  7. If you get bored of the power of 4AGE in a little car like a KE20 I'd recommend to stop trying to drag turbo skylines  Go and find a nice windy bit of road, with a 4K I've out cornered cars with 8 times the power, and scared the crap out of myself many times too 8/ tas_ae71 is on the money, put your money in the handling side of things before worrying about fancy paint or an aftermarket ecu, they just aren't as adaptive as a stock ecu for daily use come hail or shine, unless you want to buy a Motec or an Autronic.
  8. The blue plug is the air temp sensor. It trims out the fuel based on an internal map. If unplugging it is fixing the problem you're right in thinking that's the place to start. If you've got a multimeter you can test the TPS sensor for jumpy readings, they should supply a smooth and progressive variable resistance as you pump the throttle.
  9. Demuire did a rack and pinion setup a while back, his comment was for the amount and time and effort for such little gain he'd never do it again. I think his current track car still runs the old steering box setup too.
  10. If you plug the sender wire to the body of the car and the gauge is ok the needle will go to full (or higher). I've had a mix of cracked floats and worn wires in the faulty senders over the years, you'll have to pull it out and take a look if your gauge is fine.
  11. No worries mate, always glad to be of service :jamie: When you get it together I'm sure everyone would be interested on how it works out, keep us posted.
  12. Come on guys isn't the year 2008? I'd really evaluate the amount of effort and money adapting a dizzy from another car onto a 4AGE, its just isn't the best solution if you really want the best out of your motor. My mates twin throttle LPG 308 on an expensive programmable crane module made 10% better power than factory electronic ignition, and it used less fuel! If I were to build a worked carby motor again I'd go to a fully programmable ignition and throw away dizzy completely, in the last few years it'd become an affordable option. These are a brother of the megasquirt gear - the best part is it has a 3D TPS x RPM x degree's advance tuning table, or even a map sensor if you plan to boost. Download the interrogator software to look at the features, it's good stuff. Has RPM based auxiliaries as well, you could have an electric fuel pump controlled by the module too, much safer than a switch. Megajolt programmable ignition AU $140 Delivered (unassembled) Now that there is a cult following of the Megasquirt gear on the net you can get a kit at a bargain price too, Full EDIS kit, coilpacks, wheel, igniter, VR sensor AU $140 Delivered The mod a dizzy style install - 5K dizzy $80 - $100 Coil $50 Bushes - $20 Dizzy re-map - $80 Without machining you'll nearly hit the same mark as a fully programmable wasted spark install! There are many ways to skin a cat, make sure you look into every possibility.
  13. Hey, I think it might be worth going down the road of an aftermarket controller for the ignition, I haven't used one, but I think it'd be a better route than going to a vaccum advance dizzy of some kind. Ebay Ignition controller
  14. Yeah, you get kudos for 1/4 mile burnouts anywhere though :P If you are keen for some better traction I should send you the details of a mechanic I've had some work done with, he's a bit of a wizard on the suspension. A while back when I was in his workshop he told me about a street driven 1GGTE KE35 that runs 9's that he's tuned the suspension on, this dude knows his shit hey.
  15. Geez, they sure did a nice job on that exhaust, looking like its coming together very well. I can't believe you're gonna make this car more savage than it was before :P Awesome! Its definitely gonna be an animal down the 1/4 thats for sure. I wonder what rpm you'll need to spool that GT30, def won't be running out of puff at top end with that eh.
  16. From all sources I've read the Blacktop 4th gen beams motors are all alloy with good factory sleeves, apparently strong enough for 400 hp, the red top beams was a steel block.
  17. Fozz got the diff and chrome bumpers off it, and the pedal cluster, only front struts and T50 remain, the place is only 2 minutes from my house if you want me to check the handbrake cable for ya.
  18. Hey, where abouts are you? There's a set of T18 struts down the wreckers atm on a stripped T18. They aren't veneted, but I've heard of a commodore caliper and random rotor combo that works for them.
  19. Fitting a different efi motor to an efi car is quite easy. Both being toyota's you'll be able to remove all the pins from the 4AFE ECU power plug going to the existing ecu to the body of the car and re-arrange to match the 100kw's ecu. Using 2 wiring diagrams re-arrange the wires on the 100kw that match the 4AFE plug that goes to the fuse box. If the pins are different in the plugs time for cut and joins.
  20. Damn this is hard to explain properly ;) Here I go : The camber tops fix the camber issue, but the problem is, the closer the camber top is adjusted towards the engine bay the larger the degree of angle of difference that the steering arm sits at in relation to the steering bar/ tie rod ends. As the suspension compresses and rebounds when the wheels aren't pointing straight the wheels will toe in and toe out (bump steer) more due the reduction of steering symmetry caused by stub axle / steering arm angle.
  21. Hey, nice work there, coming along very nicely, great fabrication work. I don't really want to sink your boat, but I just in case you didn't know, RA65 struts in any corolla will end up with positive camber due to their stub axle angle, even with XT130 corona arms in the front end. Sigma arms rectify the problem (almost) but it'll put out your steering geometry unless you run enormous RCA's too (steering arms will not rotate along the horizontal plane)
  22. FFS! Bad to hear they messed it up. Was hoping this'd be smooth sailing for once. BTW, they won't generally do the tolerances of the valves unless you get a valve grind or specify it.
  23. 88% Some of those weights on pullies were nasty.
  24. Ahhaha! Into the personal attacks like that. You're all class. I would love to see your skill's I bet you'd drive circles around me, then you'd roll over and have to change hand :P Most people probably find the way you carry on abrasive, ffs just give up with the pissing contest, wtf are you trying to prove?
  25. :P Doing a fishy up the street does not equal skill, its a gauge of ability sought after by noobs like yourself it seems. Their are times and places for everything, but when the shit hits the fan, skills aren't a variable that will help the cause. If you've taken the time you may have read about people being killed by people with "skills" in this thread, and you've jumped up with your sword drawn for the honour of a noob ford driver
