  1. The centre nut secures the top of the strut rod in the camber top. The 4 bolts are loosened to allow the plate to slide in and out to adjust camber. They are secondhand so anything could be going on. Are the top nuts the same design? Have you checked the strut inserts to make sure they are the same/not shagged. Is the nut at the top of the strut body retaining the insert tight? Are the inserts the right length for the adapted strut housings? Is the bearing in the cambertop buggered? I would be pulling them apart to check everything. Clearly one nut is way further recessed than the other.
  2. Why do that when you can put someone out to source gaskets for you, then post them overseas so you might save 5 euro
  3. I doubt you will easily find a specific 3kb gasket these days. The one piece extractor gaskets are only $25 on eBay. At current rates that’s not much more than £2...... Search “Toyota 3k header gasket” on ebay.com.au Postage can't be that much
  4. Just get one from Toyota. And make sure you put the engine to TDC before you pull it out again
  5. I’d love one.. No rush though as I’m in the throes of looking at getting a big shed built with a reno. I’ll get in touch in awhile and see if you’re still keen.
  6. I wonder who it was and if he is on here. Perhaps he can move it on to me when he's done with it!
  7. I was admiring it too. You need to put up the design and dimensions along with anything you would do different next time. If you lived in Melbs I’d buy it off you. I imagine the only downside is having to store it.
  8. Were your KE10 ones adjustable Darren? Are you saying you are selling sets? A few guys here may be interested if so. I’ve got some NOS tokico’s for the KE15 but worried they will bottom out with the usual lowering techniques previously mentioned, hence the KE20 set.
  9. That guy is dodgy. Stay well away
  10. It’s looking fantastic. You must be so proud of what you have achieved, it’s come such a long way. Did you bolt the front bumper to the front guards? You can guarantee you will then crease the guard lip if you ever touch anything with the bumper
  11. I'm sure that back in 1985 we were told that the newfangled 4AGE engines were not rebuidable. I remember Toyota hosted Celica Car Club Victoria for a model introduction night, and everyone deriding the idea, end of the world as we know it etc.
  12. Have you taken the door and rear quarter trim panels off and looked in there? Possibly the fibreboard may also have absorbed odour. I'd maybe take out the seats and give them a good long airing for some weeks, and double checking nothing has burrowed up into the seats from underneath. They were often filled with kapok which would be very attractive bedding for rodents. The floor sound insulation material shouldn't absorb anything?
  13. For what it’s worth, the TRD adjustable cam gear for a K is a twin row. Very curious why they went to a single row
  14. You have to do something with the mouse skeleton! I’m thinking hood ornament. The rat piss was my worry with the floors but it looks good. In fact the whole car looks great A mate of mine left a window down in his AE86 in the garage, and the his cat climbed in and pissed everywhere. The smell still lingers.
  15. That looks allright. Have you had a look under the carpet yet? Bit worried about the floors.
  16. This is something you need to have done by someone who knows what they are doing. Otherwise you are going to have a disaster. By all means have a go at putting it all together (use a factory manual) but get the block, crank and rods assessed by an engine builder and let them order the correct size parts for you.
  17. The problem with continually moving the insert up with spacers (you can always add a large washer and see what difference that makes) is that you are limiting your piston travel severely, potentially outside what the spring travel dictates it needs to be. Lots of people blow inserts by bottoming them out on the piston stroke. You can also have problems with the spring itself being no longer captive
  18. I reckon the insert is loose in the strut tube. If you are going to put a shorter cartridge in, you have to either space it up or down appropriately or there is nothing to stop it moving about
  19. Sucking is plenty.
  20. That looks a REALLY low spring it has to be said.
  21. However, a man’s got to know his limitations. Or so someone once said. You might want to look into things a bit more. The idea with AE92 inserts is shorter stroke, but needs to be done in conjunction with lowered springs and everything that goes along with that. Otherwise you will just limit your damper travel until you wreck the inserts. Go with what you have got now, and consider where you want to go with the car in the future.
  22. Once you get the top nut off your macpherson strut, it is extremely simple. Get on with it and you will quickly see
  23. A little boat would be great to have for fishing at the inlet. I know the original owner of my KE15 used to tow a dingy about with it. One day maybe, because it is a damn long walk around to the mouth
  24. Love it!
  25. I’d say that all the lowering blocks are going to do is move the axle up relative to the height of the springs, and you will be left with the same problem. You will need to get the springs set properly. The shock may have blown after bing compressed too far
