You get what you pay for as said prep =time=money etc etc.As you said panels are straight until a painter looks at them . They tend to see thinks that mere mortals don't. I'm lucky as i have a mate with a panel shop and he just shakes his head at my idea of prep and my straight panels.(rubed back with a brick did we) :no2: I would do the prep my self ,then let the painter tell you if its right or not. Watch out for hot rodders as the next day i came back to pick up my car it had big ass stripes all over it ,the boys got pissed and thought they would bling it up a bit. bloody hot rodders :lolcry:

I'm not to stressed about the condition of this motor, just wanted to stop the rattling tappets. By the looks of it are you sure its a tappet rattle ,id be looking at the timing chain . As its looks like a virgin engine thats done lots of work with poor service history. rob

Struts i use xt130 coverted to coilovers ,not for the wank factor but ease of sping rate change and there 51mm od so can get all sorts of inserts from cheap to top shelf. The standard ke struts will bend even in khanas (knitting needles bin them). The ra40 struts have very heavy brake calipers ,so i would go with xt struts and steering arms, use twin spot sumitomos (spelling)from rt104 corona .Still solid disc but huge improvement over standard. Control arms lengthen by 20mm,or better rose joint them. Spring rates with k engine i used 150,4ag i use 175 but as dwarf said its a personal choice. Rear i have a extra leaf and reset pack commodore ute shocks(yes i no poor mans billys) But at some events i think the standard 200k leafs feel better ie soft grippy No rear sway bar ever. Some events down here are khanas with a touch of rally sprint speeds  If your even got a thought of rallying this thing one day do all your homework before moding it to far as all ready said. But remember that rallying proper is a very expensive regardless of what your told. Note can only run 14in wheel with this set up. Make it safe, make it handle, make it fast in that order. or and have fun most of all  rob

No didnt come carbed, can easily find manifolds to suit .Most 4 ages here are in front wheel drive spec,so you need to convert to rwd.

The best thing to remember with welding gear is you get what you pay for,gas less mig ,better off keeping your farm arc same differance. The gas prices for size E is 172.65 rental per year+115.07 for gas,you can get a smaller bottle but the gas works out dearer. Depends on how much your going to use it,as we all start out going to use it every weekend but in doesnt happen. If you want a mig buy a mig,if you want a tig etc as combo welders are always just a compremise (spelling). Lincoln best think i ve ever bought besides my coupe :lolcry: rob

Nice clean car ,like the interior work and the wheels ,maybe not the bonnet but good clean car :y: rob

No relay but think about wiring it to eather the ignition switch or maybe alternator so when you turn it off it stops pumping.

Should be ok 35gph seems a bit low for fuel rate, pressure seems ok.Could also look at weber performance they have pumps that flow about 70 gph. As said mount close to tank ,as they push fuel better than suck. Most are noisy just how they are,at least you no they working  .

Every think dwarf said is true .also remember that if you buy a set off a alfa etc it will cost a lot rejet them to suit. Jets ;chokes $30 each, etubes $30each,mains $6 each, pump jets $13,linkage $170,gasket kit $44,filters $60-70 ram flo type.(webers) You get the idea it adds up and quickly. So the price 1200-1500 is about right. don't forget there are also performance and economy types of dellortos and webers. Me plus 1 for webers, because thats what ive got and like them. rob

If your already there do them all,if ones gone chances are they are nearly all due to be done.Just because they look alright on the out side accounts for nothing. The engine may have been run for years with out coolant hence corosion etc rob

Can also use k electronic distibutor ,with 4age drive and custom spacer. Not sure on spacer ,I'm using hyper pack. rob

yeah the ratio is 4.3 and yes it was leaf springs. The axles wouldnt fit in to a tseries centre (alot bigger). So where some of the borg warner diffs bolted in from the front like early holdens HT type?? Maybe its a r or s series I'm baffled ,certianly not a bw with the bolt on rear cover The drive shaft yoke matches up to a t series.
-
I picked up what i thought was rt104 wagon the other night, had a quick look under yep t series .Things soon changed in the light of day checked trans code nothing stamped (Why did they do this). So i pulled the diff out still thinking its a t series,as it had 10 bolts on the front of it never thought any problem. I pulled it apart this morning and tryed it in my ra40 housing and there is no way it will fit :bash: . As it turns out the car is a rt118 76 model which i was lead to believe came with a BW or tseries??but there is a third option. Any one no what would be in it?? Did rt104s come with t series diffs?? Any way i did get some front calipers ,driving lights, another tin of bolts :lolcry: thanks in advance rob

There was rumor and i say rumor that 350 chev rods fitted in a k engine ,might be worth looking in to.

Thanks guys ,i will give them a miss and look for a old celica,rt corona. cheers rob

Rob get the welder out lock it up ,i can't think how bad it would be with a open diff yuk. Not to mention the times . rob

Ok have looked at two tercels today ,mainly chasing a tseries diff centre.I have seached forums but seems some controversy as what series diff are in these things. :hmm: Ive read that there a y series,s series and a r series got me stuffed :bash: or also a large axle t series. The first one i looked at had a 3ac north /south ,AL25 not sure about trans because the id plate was unstamped. Had look at the rear diff looked like t series, but i guess could be any think. The second one was also a tercel but with a 4afe engine ,trans code ES7F5834 as best i could read it,but nothing to suggest t-series. It also looked very much like a t series. Any one no any think about them ?? rob

[quote name='coln72' I'd go the front, but leave the rear off I'm with colin, you don't want to pick wheel up on the gravel .Leave the back a bit soft.

Where these jeted right to suit your engine or just put on to see what happens??They are fiddley buggars to get right. First you need to get your FUEL PRESSURE right 2.5-4.5 psi if this is not right your wasting your time doing any think else. Venturi 4.5,chokes 28,main jets 115,e tubes f11,idle jet50f9,pumpjet.35,air jet1.60.this should get some where close to right. To get it running properly get it on a dyno ,if you can find any one that no,s what there doing with webers .(harder than you think) But worth every cent  rob

Mate if you need a job go for it ,if its any sort of tyre shop there should not be that much gut busting. As when i started every think was manual labor ,that was gut busting.(rag tyre that has been on concrete truck for 5 years ) It should be less gut busting than diesel mechanic as evan said because every think is big heavy, and covered in black sh#t. The only differance is that the mechanic will make more money in the long run. rob diesel mechanic ,tyre fitter, wreaking yard goon, now truckie best job of all  dam I'm old :lolcry:
