Wanting To Contact Untubbed_20 (darren)
Taz_Rx replied to nickkkk's topic in Rollaclub Social (Off-Topic)
You couldn't hunt him down on a skyline forum? -
Just keep an eye out for one for sale here, come up from time to time. And yes you'll need an ignitor too.
-
Yeah they do "TRD uprighted K-T's". But they're the rarest of all of the K-T's. Put it this way - we can't even get a pic of one for the FAQ!!!! Pretty much everything else in the TRD kits would be exceptably easy and cheap to re-produce.
-
Have a look in the stickey'd Peurto Rican thread in the general mechanical section. I'm sure you could find some pics of one in there.
-
Do you mean the above pictured "rod"...... or the "rod" that comes throught the firewall and connects to the steering box?

Head skimming needs to be done at an auto machining shop. Maybe take it to them and get them to run a straight edge over it to check. If it did blow a HG though you'd be silly not to get it done. For $40 odd, its also cheap piece of mind. I once though "nah I don't need to skim it" and re-assembled my motor. I blew abother HG 25km later.

haha notice in KE ping it reals quote Philbey that mister 4afc warrior had to revise his power figure from 90 to 71 "kwhp".
-
This is exactly what I was talking about earlier. I just didn't explain it quite as well as Hiro did. And as Dave said, it really depends where the HG blew. Worse BHG I've even had in a K (drove from Hobart to Launceston - 200km when the HG was already blown) I had really bad mayo under the cap, steam pouring out of the exhaust, and exhaust bubbles coming through the header (rad overflow) tank...... but no real sign of oil in the water. Cheif - Deffinately get a genuine toyota gasket if you can. They're well worth the extra coin. Re-assemble it with some 3k or 4k head bolts (instead of the 5k ones) if you can get a set easy. Skimming the head flat is a MUST! Apart from the its just a few consumables you need like oil, oil filter, coolant etc. Oh and the tightening order and torque specs should be on the packet for the headgasket you buy.
-
Correct. Evan obviously saw the D-dished pistons and assumed they were 4ku/4ke...... and forgot that 5k's also had d-dishes. Just pull her apart (head off) and check the usual BHG symtoms.
-
Because of the pressure differences its more common to get water in the oil (and cause mayo) than oil in the water. Undo the sump plug and see what comes out first, oil or water. As the oil will sit on top of the water in the sump, if there's any water in the sump it'll drain out first. Last time I blew a HG I drained about a litre of water from the sump before I even saw any oil!!!

Was just told about half an hour ago that this thing was out at symmons on the weekend. Was just about to hit up youtube to see if any vids are up yet.

Roger? Did he come round in tha Caldina? If so what do you think of them? Beemer is still in the examiner. Tried to take a pic of the add with my phone but it came out shit. Add reads: BMW-E30, RB20-Turbo Engineered, custom body kit and paint. 80,000km $10,990 o.n.o. 0449 588 355

Lolz at strapped in 6x9's. Mind you a guy I went to school with was killed in an accident by a battery that was sitting on the parcel shelf hitting him in the back of the head. Hence I've never been much of a fan of those speaker boxes on parcel shelves.

haha love the bass/melody lines for ghost buster. ;)

Got your email. Agree with towe, the internals of the dizzy don't look like stock K. It seems to be one of the "convert your points to electronmic" type kits.
-
13bt injectors are pretty commonly used for upgrades in other cars. They're 550cc. Also readily available and cheap as there's plenty of people putting bigger ones in the 13bt's. ;)
-
....and IMHO re-sleeving is also a complete waste of time!! +1 for a brand new one. They're not expensive. ;)
-
I went from a pretty much stock 4k to a 3k/5k low CR hybrid motor with the solids so yeah..... bit hard to comment on just the solid lifters.
-
SOUNDS VERY DODGY TO ME!!!!! So it has a "suspected" leaking head gasket. And the tappet cover has been obviously degreased AFTER its been running after the rebuild. This says to me that the seller is trying to pull the wool over your eyes. Chances are the tappet cover was degreased cause of the mayonaise (well blown HG) that was in it.

"tweeting" "cricket Noise" 4k Ke70 Freshly Service

Good point oldfella - The points felt pad should be greased when installed. I forgot to once and actually snapped the felt pad. -

Well it would be easy to elliminate as a problem. Just remove the fan belt and run the motor for a few seconds (so you don't cook it) and if its still "tweets" then you will know its NOT the fan belt. :( Another way to elliminte it without having to remove the belt is - Start the motor and let it idle. Then press a cake of soap onto the belt so it picks some up. If the belt is squeeking then it'll stop with the soap on it. Mate of mine used to have a squeeking fan belt and he used to soap it up once a week cause he hated the noise!! :D -

You sure the "tweating" isn't coming from the fan belt? -
There's only 1 Caldina in the state that I know of, and an RC member owns it. Just had a look on the trading post and tassiecars for the beemer, and its not listed on either. I'll let you know if its still in tomoz's examiner.

And there's factors like Compression ratio that can serious effect the timing. I was have a conversation with Daim...... http://www.ae86drivingclub.com.au/forums/s...GTE-KE70/page23 just the other day actually about what timing we were running on boost. He runs pretty much stock 4AGZE CR and can only run around 13-14* from memory with 18'ish psi. With my 8:1ísh CR I can wind in up to 28* with the same sort of boost. He alos mentioned another guy with a worked R32 and he can't run any more than 7* at full boost in that without it pinging!! FYI - I do plan on the new FAQ article having pretty much all you need to know to boost your K. However if there's any theory type thing I think is very generic I'll just be suggesting a wiki or google search.

I really don't think it matters. In my current 5k which has an unknown spec cosworth cam in it I just removed the hydro lifters and dropped in the (re-faced) solid lifters and away I went. Never had an issue. FYI - Those lifter are already faced and ready to use. :D
