maybe you could get the map tweaked for your cold start, extra enrichment at low temp? WGMG......my new office moving to milton. i used to have a 15min drive to work, now i have a 1hr 40min commute on public transport. 15min walk, 40min train, 15min wait, 10min train, 20min walk. lame!!! oh and trains coming 2mins early this morning, i made it......but only just.....then it would have added 30mins to my trip....... upside is, my HTC plays TV shows awesomely for the train ride. 28mins of video (with sound @ 192kb/s) only wastes 16% of battery! (i don't want to hear about your ipad, i don't care!)

hey dude, awesoeme post, lots of info given! it sounds like your alternator is on the way out. but don't just go and replace it!!!! take the alternator off, and drop it off at an auto electrician. he will test it for you, they have a load tester, and if required he will rebuild it for you. if he is any good, he will sand blast the outside of it, paint it silver, rpelace all the bushes in it, and make it better than a new one. and it shouldn't cost you much more than $100. pending where you are located i know a good auto elecy, he has done a few of my alternators and starter motors over the years.

hey mate, just get a standard replacement from exedy. if you are feeling rich, get a heavy duty one. and for prices ring up your local parts shop. shouldnt be much more than 200$ or find one on ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/EXEDY-CLUTCH-KIT-TOYOTA-COROLLA-1-6L-1-8L-1989-on-/150522566228?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item230bd81654 that's one for an ae71, one for a ke55 should be cheaper than this.

sorry if we have put your off phil86. but you need to understand that such a conversion you are talking about, is pretty much 100% custom. if you can even just pay someone to make your engine mount, and you do the rest that will save you $1000's. most guys who do this sort of work, will charge about $90-100/hour, maybe even more. a standard mechanic charges $70-80/hr. and with the time required to do such a conversion for you. it wont take long to work up 60hrs. and there is $6000 just in labor. add $3k for a half cut, tailshaft, fuel, wiring requirements. its racing towards $10k quite easily. just out of interest we put a ca18det into my mates ae86, did everything we could ourselves (did everything except exhaust, and we bought engine mounts), still wasn't much change from $6k. and i haven't even considered, brakes, suspension and engineering certification....that could easily be an additional $5k.

Honestly Does It Really Need To Become This Bad?
ke70dave replied to agius's topic in Automotive Discussion
that article has been written with bias against the system. i forever see people hooning around the streets, that will never get caught. soccer mums in their mazda 3's with their foot flat to the floor coming out of carparks, old guys driving bmws at a million miles an hour, but will never get caught. as they arent drifting and probably wont even have a cop look at them twice. i can see from the cops point of view, screeching of tyres is evidence of driving too fast. weather it be wet conditions or dry. where as it would be difficult to prove that "someone looked like they were driving too fast" with no real evidence. unfortunately for this guy, the laws went against him and he got owned. on the flip side it is very easy to spin the wheels in a FWD, especially in the wet, so maybe the guy was completely innocent, who knows. in this case, if the article is somewhat accurate, the cop may have been power tripping, making an example of him. or maybe the article isn't accurate, and the dude was really rude to the cop and brought it upon himself. who knows. in my opinion there is far to much handing out tickets, and not enough investigation work into working out if a crime/offense was actually committed. seems to be a case of, we'll give you the ticket, and if you don't like it go and fight. it should be "we will investigate the entire scenario before we give you a ticket, so as we don't waste your time, money or license points, or give you a bad reputation on you record". pft who am i kidding, wouldn't want to investigate things properly! handing out tickets gets instant money! -
also you haven't actually stated what you want help with. i assume your having trouble figuring out the brake booster? but you have given no details, so its impossible for us to help:(

if you are going to pay someone to do it...sell your ke30, and spend all your money on buying a complete altessa, so you have the same engine, in a comfortable and new car. paying someone to do such a conversion is just not worth it, and buying a complete altessa may even be cheaper in the long run.

aarrrggghhh that dreaded back pressure! its not back pressure! its merely a lack of scavenging effect from having an exhaust pipe that is too big. nothing to do with "pressure". and anyway this lack of scavenging effect shouldn't cause hesitation, more just a lack of low end torque.

lights from about every 2nd car made between 1980 and 1990 will fit. its a standard light size, 6" x 4" i think, something like that. hilux, 180, landcruiser, many many others. available off the shelf at repco or any parts shop for probably under $20 each. best to buy a pair of semi sealed lights (a bit more expensive than the sealed standard items), so you an change the bulb in them when they blow next time. and you can get some better bulbs to give you some more light.

there was a bloke selling a wolf 3d for $400 the other day. just need to keep a look out. also nothing wrong with mega squirt, I've helped my mate tune his RX7 on one, 320hp (measured on dyno at wheels) on E85 petrol. so it has the goods to tune the little 4k  in fact for a while there we ran it as an ignition only ecu, just had the carby doing its thing, programmable ignition. worked well.
-
Just go to your local parts shop and buy one.......repco, bursons, supercheap auto, auto 1......take your pick. Exedy heavy duty will be fine.

what is wrong with camber bolts for the lca?
-
he probably had a secret camera inside that thumb:P

ke30 I'm fairly sure are exact same length as the beloved xt130 control arms. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/topic/36528-xt130ke3055-lcas/ http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/tech-conversions/25687-ke30-xt130-front-struts.html reference there^^ ive seen xt130 arms sell for $200, funny when you can probably get ke30 arms for free!

far out, take any more off that flywheel and it will become transparent! and yes, any 2nd hand standard 4k part should be free or under $20. you can buy an entire 4k engine with a 4speed for under 150 usually!
-
That's a wicked color, love it mate. gonna look good in the sun.
-
you can buy them pre built as well, add about $100 i think. and whats wrong with America land? i think they might have stuff on eBay too, so you can just use paypal etc.
-
well you can't adjust camber on standard ke70 anyway. so to check your toe, just measure the distance between the front of your front tyres, and the rear of your front tyres. should be the same for zero toe.
-
i can't remember what suspension you have buz, but my standard ke70 always had a bit of positive camber. Who knows why that was, probably to promote under steer, that was big in the 80's.
-
less chrome bits, more RWC!
-
yeah I'm just hoping he set the camber on my car before he set the toe, and not the other way around.
-
http://www.diyautotune.com/ for all your megasquirt needs. as well as a few other products, widebands and wiring stuff etc.

i have a similar thing going on the nissan. but not as bad as yours...that is some nasty wear going on there. when i got all my suspension done i got a wheel align, got it done to factory settings except a bit of extra camber on the front (factory is -1 front, i got -1.5, thought i would give it a go) I've noticed the front left inside Tyre is wearing a bit more than the others too. I noticed on my wheel alignment report, that they put a bit less (i think less...) castor on the left front in order to take into account the curvature of the road.....i wouldn't have though this will cause any issues though.... i would just take it somewhere and get it re done, go to one of those electronic wheel alignment places, then they can give you a print out of before and after, so you can compare.

try your air filter if its running rich. but fuel filters are cheap. go and buy a new fuel filter, look how it will be attached, find old one in car, have a think about how to remove it, and let us know how you go;)
