  1. PWM - Pulse width modulation. Essentially just a solenoid valve that is controlled by the computer using PWM control.
  2. I hope you didnt pay much for the "tune" then.
  3. Don't hate the player hate the game:p (no it wasnt me, please don't hurt me)
  4. Jeez that's not much. If you aren't getting under 10L/100km with a 1.6L for road driving there is something wrong.
  5. You want to do any 4wding? What is the 4wd system in the 2008? Still the hydraulic opperated front diff? That has a mind of its own?
  6. 3000 gets you an ae92 sx corolla. Fwd sure, but they are great cars with a great engine.
  7. How about the condenser? The little capacitor on the dizzy. I had one of them go on me once. Would idle fine but would splutter under any load. They are cheap to replace (~$10) so worth doing if you have changed everything else.
  8. I should really get working on that airbox again.....I finished up FIFO work, back to 9-5 mon-fri like a normal person now.
  9. Depending how enthusiastic you are you could get your current gbox rebuilt. New bearings and synchros.
  10. Maybe it's a ke09 because 10% of it has rusted away.
  11. Woah! maybe the work experience kid was stamping the plates that day? How about some pics of the whole car? just for interests sake?
  12. Who was that quote through parott? Shannons? Insurance quotes are hard to compare as they are very dependant on location.
  13. The issue is, even if you find someone they might have required different stuff to you. Rules change, engineers personal preferences change from car to car. The only person's opinion that matters is the engineer you get to sign it off. i'd suggest ringing that bloke that is mentioned above, he will tell you what is what.
  14. I assume you have considered just making your own fuel lines? We made lines on my mates CA18det ae86, just used aluminium bundy tube. Turned out real good. And you can pick any size you like then.
  15. woah! well done. It certainly looks the part.
  16. The other thing to consider is if you up the spring rate you must up the shock absorber as well.
  17. Good car for an Enthusiast, good car for learning, easy car to fix, yes! Just remember It is 30yrs old, so expect repairs, and on most engines you have to expect major. even if the car has "only" done 200,000 it is still 30yrs old. So oil seals and what not are all starting to die. I would never recommend one to a non enthusiast as they are just too old to be reliable with minimal servicing. You really have to be onto ever small issue as it comes up in order to keep it reliable. But that is half the fun:)
  18. Nope good idea, but if the previous owner took it out because it was overheating then there might be something else going on with the coolant system.
  19. Is a 1977 ke30 a collectabe item though? Looks good in the pic but that is a non standard colour so already its not original. Ehat mods were you thinking?
  20. If you end up getting a bottle of gas, can I come and use it and throw you some cash for the gas:P I think the issue with owning a bottle is keeping it in certification, everything i have heard suggests you can have a bottle but then the owner is responsible for keeping the bottle in certification. (and they wont refill it when its out of certification) This mob seems to suggest you can still buy a bottle. http://www.speedgas.com.au/product/gas-cylinders-valves/
  21. My auto helmet has revolutionized my welding. It's so good.
  22. Fuel tank pressurising perhaps. Crack the fuel filler open when it's parked to see if it stops.
  23. 20V 4age is your best bet. or a 4agze if you want a supercharger.
  24. Have you put a carby kit through it?
  25. Very nice! re welder, you could get an inverter DC stick/tig machine. I have a DC stick/lift tig machine and the stick welding is so smooth compared to the old transformer units, I have quite successfully welded thin exhaust pipe with a 2mm rod. I don't have the Tig accessories to go with it though, but id love to give Tig a go one day. Gas mig does do nice welds and is much easier.
