  1. Front page of modplate.com.au "AVCS will visit your premises we cover Brisbane, Ipswich, Toowoomba and the Gold and Sunshine Coast by appointment"
  2. Another option is randall from modplates.com.au about $150 for a same mod plate code
  3. Wicked............. Been lookin forward to seeing some photos of your work carlos! I do love a good mk1 cortina.
  4. If the old thermostat was stuck open a bit like you say, then yes its quite possible that this is why your coolant was a bit cooler all the time. The thermostat aims to keep the temperature of the coolant constant. when it gets hot it opens up and lets some coolant through to the radiator, when it cools down it closes up and stops the flow to the radiator. Should be around 80-85 degrees that the thermostat aims for, and under normal operating conditions, you should see the temperature rise from cold gradually, then bascially stay constant.
  5. Thermostats die, you found a dead one. you replaced it, problem solved. ..and then you put the old one back in?!
  6. How about some more details. Whats wrong with it?

I belive they also tend to set the castor different on one side to counter the camber angle of the road. The last time i got my ke70 wheel aligned i told them i wanted them the same, and they did, i didnt notice any adverse effects. Didnt notice any advantage either, so ive never bothered with it on any of my other cars. With -2 camber +2 castor should be pretty good i would think, especially for steering wheel weight, just might need to watch your inner tyre wear. See how you go though, castor is adictive, you might find yourself wanting castor with less camber due to tyre wear. I was up at around +6 castor i think, with -1 camber. (i had s13 camber tops in mine, which gave massive castor at moderate castor arm adjustment while keeping the wheels centred in the wheel arch.

Is there any more thread left on your castor arms? Also what sort of camber tops you got? as if they put the top of the strut closer to the front, you essentially lost castor for a given castor arm setting. King pin angle is the angle between the stub axel and the shock tube. I think you can calculate it based on castor and camber angles, but youd need to move the wheels in order to get the plot the relationship. www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk/tech-kingpininclination.php Sounds like the included is a calculation between camber and castor. and almost like a check that both sides are the same, and that stuff isnt bent.
  9. I wonder if these guys coudl make you a whole new cable one that works out of the box. http://www.autocables.com.au/
  10. "I currently have the AE86 disc cables but they do not fit" How don't they fit? The one time we did a diff conversion we went to a place that made trailers/camper vans, and they were able to give us what we needed to join the cable that came out of the diff with what was existing in the car. (this was a torago diff into an 86)

Well the 3k/4k (which ever it has) has got to be one of the easiest engines to do a headgasket on! You'll have it all appart in an hour or two. If you have the 3k (1.2L) then a 4k(1.3L) is good option as an "upgrade". and if you have a 4k, then a 5k (1.5L) is a good option but a bit more costly. If the engine you have is in good condition (appart from a headgasket), an overhaul of the head, new gasket will get it into order and with regular maintence probably give many years of service.
  12. This would spoil your day. http://wwos.ninemsn.com.au/glanceview/344962/porsche-drives-straight-into-barrier.glance
  13. Got any photos? What do you want to do with it when you figure out what its called?
  14. Aren't some of that model corona irs as we'll? I'm surprised they aren't more popular. Would be way better than a ke70 standard. That 22re engine would push it along alright? They aren't really that easy on the eye though...
  15. Its very likely that the ae71 tacho is out. No harm done swapping the computer. Don't have a mate with a spare standalone tacho to compare? edit: As my Kiwi mate used to say "if in doubt, rev it out" :P
  16. Sounds like that engine i bougth off you many years ago matt :P Rust in the bores and everything, yet it served me well for a few yrs. Nice progress on the car. How good is hammercoat paint!
  17. Crikey! id never considered that a clutch coudl be out of balance. i would have thought that would be the most important thing for a clutch manufacturer.... Tried the engine with that new clutch/flywheel setup yet?
  18. What do you mean push it towards the firewall? you talking about spinning it ? (ie adjusting ignition timing) or phyiscally pushing on the distributer. As if its bolted in properly then it shoudlnt really move anywhere even if you do push it.
  19. Any mechanic should be able to do it, but problem is it might not be much more $$ to buy new ones.
  20. Try unplugging the TPS and giving it a go. And similarly try unplugging the map sensor and giving it a go. It should run with either of these unplugged, (with the map sensor unplugged it will run very poorly, but it should run, tps no as dramatic) Also not a bad idea to connect up the check engine light and see if any codes are being stored.
  21. They promise the world untill they have the money in their pocket ;)
  22. Renegade is the trade tools brand. Not sure who makes them originally.
  23. Have a look on grey's online. Lots of machien shops selling up, selling off their old gear. ive been looking for a compressor for a while too..
  24. I would have thought the charge light would need to be a normal globe as well?
  25. Very nice Matty. My first thought was those wheels almost make it look euro ish. Like an old bmw or something. What's going on with the right hand side of that rear bumper?
