  1. Shifters between k40 and k50 FROM A KE70 are the same, only the earlier models before ke70 are different. Your gearbox will be a direct swap over in your ke70, cheers!
  2. Anything that has zinc is a good start, good for high friction areas like lifters on cam lobes etc.
  3. Great to see she's still in great condition! Keep those photo's coming!
  4. Sounds like the timing is too retarded on de-acceleration. When you have done the timing, did you disconnect the vacuum advance and retard on the dizzy? Being auto, you should have the dual input diaphragm. Make sure both are disconnected to give a true reading, cheers!
  5. I'd lean towards ignition. Just a word of warning, common problem I've found recently with the bosch branded points (made in mexico), are shite. Reason being (with my personal experience), once installed, the bakerlite part of the points wears down within 100kms of running causing timing to retard (causing the engine to run sluggish). Last bosch set I had in the car I had to adjust 4 times within 200kms until there was nothing left of the bakerlite runner. Hence now the fuelmiser brand is in, no dramas since. And also was a voltage drop running through the bosch points as opposed to the fuelmiser. Maybe something to look at?? Cheers!
  6. Unfortunatly to repair the rust properly is a major job, if your wanting to chase it 100%, that means removal of the windscreen, front guards, inside dash and associated bits, and drilling out all the spot welds of the top panel of the plenum, big job, although has been done before, cheers!
  7. Spotted in the bunnings carpark at morayfield today, a ke55 update, blue in colour, looked rust free, cheers!
  8. Centre caps sticking out should be ok, as the factory steelies are the same, have you tried looking for a set of performance challengers? Same style wheel, better offset and easy to get centre caps. cheers!
  9. I wouldn't order pistons/ bearings till the motor is apart, until then will you know what needs machining/replacing and what sizes to machine/replace items to. A MUST in any k motor would be the timing chain, sprockets and associated tensioners.
  10. It is a common problem with 30/55's, could be a number of things from accumulated dust to possibly broken internals, probably worth to pull it out and have a looksy, cheers!
  11. Yeah my ke30 one was $150 just over a year ago through a local guy.
  12. 2 inch drop in the front, 2 1/2 reset in the rear, never a drama after 12 years! cheers!
  13. Yeah I had just the run of the mill manual 4.11:1 geared borg warner diff, cheers!
  14. Not sure how much it will cost to get a whole other gearbox shipped to the states? Maybe an option?
  15. Congrates on the purchase, I see its k powered, wouldn't be too many left in the states, cheers!
  16. I used to get 85kms an hour out of first gear in my old 2 speed, just thought id throw that in there, ha ha!!
  17. Nice looking setup, any idea how much HP? Cheers!
  18. Can't wait to see more pictures, I'm a big fan of the 30 2 doors!
  19. Sorry, I miss understood, you just need to change the drivers side engine mount over to the ke55 one, and your good to go! cheers!
  20. your right, forgot about that. You can use the ke70 manifolds, although I'd try and get a hold of the early 55 ones, just easier all round, and yes, being a 79 model, its the one without all the emissions crap, cheers!
  21. Is your ke55 originally an auto? If so, the ke55's had a borg warner 35 auto, as opposed to the ke70's, which had the holden trimatic auto box. Not sure if any mods needed for the box to fit into a 55. Tail shaft from the ke70 wont fit your ke55, ke55 one piece shaft, ke70 2 piece shaft. If your ke55 was originally a manual, You will have to custom make a crossmember to change it over to auto. 4K engine will fit, probably best to change over your intake and exhaust manifolds from your old engine and use them on your new one, ke70's have a lot more emission crap opposed to the ke55, unless you have an update 55 which has the same emission stuff and manifolds as the ke70. Also drivers side engine mount is different, that will have to be changed, Hope this helps, cheers!
