  3. The center diff is going to be integrated into the gearbox...so no chance of doing that unless there was a manual AWD gearbox to suit the application.

  5. I think the reason you see them in celicas and not corollas is that its a straight drop in swap for a celica. For a corolla its an engine conversion so people usually go for a better base engine. There is information out there. I did lots of research when I was considering doing one.
  6. Not really. If you want something bad enough you're going to keep working at it until you get it. Id just take it as a lesson learnt and hope that this failed test has prepared me better for the next one. Bitching about it wouldnt get me anywhere. Ignorance of the law is no excuse either.
  7. I think you should be glad that getting a drivers licence is easy. I'm currently doing my pilots licence. Waited 10 weeks for my student licence (allows me to fly by myself with restrictions) and security clearance to be approved by Canberra. Currently 15 weeks and counting (and about $400 in medical reports out of my pocket) for my medical approval. And this even before Ive done any flying tests. Ive got my dual hours required to get my basic licence but because I still havent got my medical don't have my solo hours. ...Maybe if drivers licences were that hard to get we'd have less shit drivers on our roads.

  18. Tried a couple more pads. Ferodo Excels. OK pedal feel, somewhat dusty, reasonably priced. They'll take a little bit of abuse. Rated around 550deg. Bendix GCT. These are OK for every day driving but garbage anywhere else. Somewhat dusty, overpriced for a daily pad. Temp rated 380deg. God I hate bendix. Getting Ferodo DS2500s for the fronts and Racebrakes RB74 for the rears on Tuesday with a bit of luck and see how we go next track day.

  20. I don't know anyone who runs them....and I'll be buggered if I can find a place that sells them...... In all fairness however, a Soarer is 1600kg AND he was running full slicks. And whos to say he didnt over tighten his lug nuts? Probably still a good idea to run them if you can FIND THEM.
  21. Jet dragsters are quick but not quite as quick. They stage on full thrust and hit the afterburner to launch. Ive stood 5 meters from the jet pipe of one on full thrust...mmm toasty. Yes jets make massive shaft horsepower, but AFAIK bugger all torque. The reason the HP is so high is because of the massive shaft speeds (compared to automotive engines). e.g. A Rolls-Royce AE2100 makes about 4600 shaft horsepower at lets say 30,000rpm (I can't find exact speed figures). That works out to just 805lb.ft of torque. An automotive engine of the same power would be making something like 2400lb.ft of torque @ 10,000rpm. My calcs are probably far from perfect but you get the general idea.

  23. Because you almost double the cost in turbos....then youve got custom manifolds, two dumps, custom cooler piping and then trying to get the bloody thing to run correctly (with sequentials)
