  1. Couple of tips on the braided lines/anodised fittings: Try and use aeroquip fittings were possible. They look identicle to earls or speedflow but are a bit cheaper, and same high quality. Aeroquip don't make heaps of adapters and stuff, so you'll may need to buy some earls/speedflow stuff. For say -6 (3/8 hose) a straight fitting is $8. A 45o or 90o fitting in the same size is around $35!!!! SOOOOO, where possible use a 45o or 90o adapter fitting (which is like $5-$10) and then use a straight hose end fitting, for a total price of like $15-$20 instead of $35. Adds up real quick when you do a few! ...and be warned.....they can become addictive and you'll want to do everything in the engine bay!! :P Mind you I'm now loving them more and more after doing some work on them...... 1a, undo hose clamp with screwdriver 1b, stuggle with pulling hose off barbed fitting 1c, skin knuckles when you finally get the hose off 1d, then cut off small bit of hose were the hose clamp f@$ked it compared to: 2a, loosen fitting with 11/16 spanner 2b, casually unscrew fitting with fingers 2c, .....oh yeah, your done!!! :P
  2. From a townace!! :P
  3. Yeah it would be an ae71 mate, 4ac's are 1.6l. :D lets just hope it was a stanza casey!!!
  4. Didn't see it myself, but aparently there was a white K'sev somewere near LC last night on its lid!!!
  5. Have a chat to the PR guys in there thread to see what you need to do to run boost through a DCOE.
  6. Sounds like your alterantor is on the way out. Can get it reco'd for around $100-$150, buy a sceond hand one for like $20, or buy a new one...there's one on egay at the mo for like $60.
  7. Do some research into MSD or Crane units. May be a little more expensive, but so worth it in the long run. :lmao: BTW, start your car....grap hold of a plug lead and pull it off the plug.....that'l give you a "Megajolt experience"!! :hmm:
  8. when you say "twin carbies" do you mean a 3k-b twin asian setup, or dual side drafts? If side drafts, I can't see why you couldn't do a blow through setup with a plenum across the front of them, as thats what most of the 9 second turbo 3t's in PR/states are using!! Although they may be a bit more painful to initially setup (ie fuel system) they'd probably give you some better perfromance than the old draw through SU setup.
  9. Yeah head was fully reco'd and professionally setup befor the motor was fitted!!!! Now done about 4000km....so there may be some "discussion" on who is paying for repairs! But don't know exactly what failed, or were the water was going! ....Hence my "4k always gets you home" comment. :lmao:
  10. Nah, rebuild because he has to!! Started using heaps of water on the weekend, like heaps....so it got towed home behind a 4k  They cracked the head off suspecting a blown HG and discovered that all of the head was in a pretty bad way, aparently all of the cams are scored and shit. Bloody 4ages!! :lmao:
  11. I picked my V4 up for $300! :bash: Had to send it away to have the latest version of firmware on but that was only like $90. You sure those injectors have started to seize up again or something? you try other injectors again?
  12. haha yeah I had one once sober, was very dissapointed in my "beer goggled" tastebuds! :bash:
  13. Do you mean the microwave chicken gravy rolls? If so they're THE BEST thing when you've got a gut full of piss......and thats about the only time I'll eat servo food.
  14. Rattle rattle, chitty chitty bang bang!!!  And the K will always atleast get you home!!! ;) :bash:
  15. The holes in the top of the strut towers....
  16. Yeah most australian 4k's have flat top pistons, but there's a few dished ones kicking about which you obviously have one of. Would be an advantage if you wanted to turbo or supercharge it by using the dished piston block and flat top head for low compression. Doing it the other way would have too much!
  17. Yeah I reckon it is 1/8 mile, but they run heaps faster than 12's on the 1/4. Once you're running that fast over the 1/8th its only really a couple of seconds more to cover the 1/4.
  18. yeah w55, as it has the black sandwhich plate and alloy gear casing. :bash: will not fit any K motor.
  19. s13 strut tops fit straight in if you file the holes 1mm each!! :bash:
  20. The second one has lugs under 1 & 4 therefor it appears that it is a 5k head that has been put on the 4k, or a rare (in aus anyway) dished piston 4k. Double check the block the second one came off, as it might just be a 5k. :bash:
  21. I concur 100%!! :bash:
  22. That one is nothing compared to one I had wear out. The cluster gear ate into one end nearly a third of the way through the shaft. Took nearly 2 tonne of pressure to push the bugger out in a press casue it was catching on the worn bit. :bash: I'll see if I can't find it and take a pic.
  23. This is all good, provided you don't use an in-tank pump (as a lifter) that has a relief valve on the pump body. Its sort of like a regulator, but once it starts making edequate pressure, it will relieve itself by shirting fuel out of the body of the pump. Fine in-tank, external = boot full of fuel. :lolcry: Any carby pump (fuelpro, facet, carter, holley etc) will always make a good external lifter. Another thing to bare in my when selecting a lift pump is weather the pump is self priming, (can push well, but suck too) carters for example. Holley pumps are not self priming and need to be gravity fed by mounting it below tank level. So workout WHERE you want your setup, then select appropriate pumps.
  24. "Don't buy petrol days" (and email) have been going round for years and never seemed to happen or work! :lolcry:
  25. Mmmmm, sounds almost as good as a "kabab in a can"!! edit...... "S'up f@$kers"! :lolcry:
