  1. The Turtle was the only AWD Corolla released in Oz. You ain't gunna find an AWD AE82. You can buy the TRD rally Corolla's, a guy in QLD has one. You just need VERY deep pockets. The lump in the tranny tunnel is to house the exhaust and for structural strength, not for a tail shaft. Unless you're a fabricator of the higher order, it'd cost..... well, a lot.
  2. Gee they got some hungry mice there. Surely a better shell could have been found......
  3. Somewhere around here is an excellent article on building a hybrid, and exactly what you have to use. I'll have a better look for it later, as I'm a bit busy at the mo. :D The engine in my 55 was built in Tassy, so I know bugger all about it. It's a bit Cammy, reasonable porting job and a pair or 40 DCOEs. The engine for my 25 is really the unknown quantity. Basically it sounds angry. But that project is on the back burner for a bit. Unfortunately most of my knowledge is in K motors, and I'm just getting the hang of Ts. As for Solexs, if there isn't a distance record for throwing them, there should be. DCOE's and DHLA's are far better units. R
  4. There's 100 Oz wheels for a start. Xtrac gearboxes, 90 struts (!), the list goes on!!! .... oh and of course owning an ex Hannu Mikkola rally car. I'd never leave home, and I'd soon be Vitamin E deficient! :D
  5. My 2T-G which is reasonable, but not wild dyno'd up on a hard dyno at 109hp ATW. about 140 ish at the fly with a 30% reduction. I believe there is easily another 20 in it if we went looking. I know someone with 135hp ATW with a hybrid. That's about 165 fly, but it's also a torque monster. Anything is achieveable with the right knowhow and, of course, cash. :D
  6. In Sweden. I thought I'd horded some stuff, but this bloke is the king. All parts are ex-works as well. For 65000 euros, I have enough equity in the house to get it too. I wonder much how a couple of containers would be from Sweden to Brisbane........ http://cna.nu/calle/
  7. Which hillclimb is that? I think my car may have it in its logbook......
  8. I would think that 160hp (flywheel) is achievable easily with a straight 2t-g. If you want 160 hp atw you'll be pushing excrement up a steep hill.
  9. A license is a privilege not a right. So it inconvenienced you. As irokin said, if this is the worst thing that ever happens to you, your going for a charmed life. Have you considered that he may not have been happy with the whole package of your driving? Look forward, get it the next time. We can even start a brick collection for your bridge if you like. :D
  10. I use and recommend John Edwards Automotive, Cnr of Bilsen Rd and Virginia St. Nice bloke, honest as the day is long.
  11. Yep. To my knowledge anyway. :D
  12. Okay, a bit confusing, but here we go. KE25's all came out of the box with Jap (Banjo) diffs. KE20's came with both Jap and Borg Warner diffs. A center from a Jap 2X series will bolt into a Jap 3X housing. Cheers R
  13. Grin. Bear it. Your word against his. He's the tester you're not. Start looking forward to the next test.
  14. I'd go over it at least once, possibly twice for that warm and fuzzy feeling. (God forbid, even a third time if required, as you started from empty.....) Sorry, I didn't know your experience level, so I didn't know how much of the above post to put in. :D
  15. Brake bleeding 101. (don't take it personally if I'm telling you anything you already know. :D) Start at the brake furthest away from master cylinder, and work towards it. i.e: Rear right, rear left, front left, front right. Oddly enough, if I have air I tend to get it from the rear brakes, and hardly ever from the fronts...... If it's a big ingress of air that you've had, you may need to do it more than once. Leave about 20 minutes between bleeds to let everything settle. HTH. R
  16. Fair enough. That screws my wonderful thought......
  17. Drums or discs on the rear?
  18. What Fook is saying is that his had ONE fuse in the engine bay. Not a fuse box as such. Mine didn't have any. My spare doesn't have any. Raven's didn't have any. How many times do you have to be told????? And by the way: does NOUN: 1a. A specified quantity of a therapeutic agent, such as a drug or medicine, prescribed to be taken at one time or at stated intervals. b. The amount of radiation administered as therapy to a given site. 2. An ingredient added, especially to wine, to impart flavor or strength. 3. An amount, especially of something unpleasant, to which one is subjected: a does of hard luck. 4. Slang A venereal infection.
  19. The moral of the story is that K motors don't tend to bend pushrods.
  20. Been there done that. My 3K had a 7K change mark, but would go out to 9K, but not something I did everyday, funnily enough. Wouldn't go any harder than that as the valve springs wouldn't let it. Readings as per an Autometer Tacho. Pulled 8K cheerfully on the dyno. A 4AG should be able to crap 7K in all day everyday. 9K I believe on a decent one is a very realistic achievement. Build them right and they don't break.
  21. An Aussie 55 is a KE30. Therefore, No, it does not.
  22. Good call. I'd forgotten people own FWDs. :y:
  23. Go the heavy duty Sportivo item. You drive it too much to have a button. Trust me. :y:
  24. Nope. Ain't going to happen. Corolla PCD 114.3mm and Gemini I understand to be 4x100.
  25. Rare. I like. (Except the sticker. :y:)
