  1. Find the engine number. Look for the first three digits. Then see above. Failing that, I'll ask a Datsun guru tomorrow about the K25 mark.
  2. The engine number will be the giveaway. L18= 1800cc 180B/ 720 motor. L20= 2000cc 200B/ Bluebird motor. The A87 head is off an L18, but people put them on L20's as they're a good unit. L18's and L20's are basically interchangable, like a 4K and 5K. Hope this helps. R
  3. Light flyheels do make quite a difference. Until you want to go up a hill, which in this case isn't applicable. Most good engine shops should be able to do something for you, however you'll never get down to the weight of a Toda or TRD f/w. However, you're not selling your first born to get it either......
  4. For St Nick. If you still know anyone in Rallying in Tassie, tell them it's gone to a good home.
  5. Blue silastic fixes all. I don't use gaskets on diffs.
  6. Yes, I've only used Japs too, hence I was working from memory. :D Widowmaker, yep, Borg Warner. Use above instructions. :D
  7. If it's a Borg Warner diff, it may not have one from memory. If it doesn't, take off the backing plate, and all the oil will fall out. Apply Silastic, bolt back on, fill with fresh oil. :D
  8. I'm the other way around. As I can't move my top mounts due to the rules, I rose joint the lower control arms. If you need more than 2 deg of camber on a road car, you're doing something wrong.
  9. I have an inverted eye leaf pack. You have to shorten the rear bolt on the forward eye shackle, otherwise the spring pack will hit them. Gotta go to Mackay for the day tomorrow, but I'll try to get a pic tomorrow night. My low pack is around 70mm lower than my forest rally spring pack
  10. Good man. :D Unless you're seam welding the whole car it's pointless.
  11. No, he's not getting ripped off as such, he's been quoted the full retail price. And we're not talking about Monroes here, we're talking real shockies. Go the fully adjustables, all day, everyday. Do you know someone in the game? As the bloke above us said, you can buy them via trade, and some discount will apply, not half price, Pedders don't reduce a lot or trade, and they're only buying them through a wholesaler. They can often be good if you tell the it's for a race car. It's been a long while since I've paid full retail. The wholesalers for Koni's in Melbourne are mobs called Proven Products, and Top Performance. I don't know if they do retail, but it can't hurt to try. Otherwise, let your fingrs do the walking, and get a couple of quotes from Melbourne places. As for swaybars, don't touch them until you have your spring rates and shocks sorted. Otherwise you're changing too many things too quickly. 20's only weigh 900kgs, and, in particular, don't really need rear swaybars. I've never touched mine on the 25. Oh, and Anastasios, we don't charge by the letter. Don't be lazy, type full words.
  12. Hammer and chisel. Some people have had success with dry ice as well. Why are you doing it? It only saves about 6-8 kgs..... Seriously non-fun job.
  13. You're going backwards, and your times will suffer. Try and get a ceramic with a sprung centre. A standard clutch after you've had a decent one will feel woeful. Unfortunately, as I said before, with Hp, it's time to upgrade stuff, which gets to be a never ending cycle. Change the box. There cheaper than clutches, and easier to change. If it's only a toy, I'd stick with the grunter clutch. R
  14. Yep, It's Bob Nichols old car. It's now substantially different. I'll post a newer pic tomorrow. R
  15. Having the same issues.
  16. I doubt it. KE10 cross member is totally different to a KE20. It's been done, however I don't know how to do it. :lock:
  17. I have a TE37 replica, and a TE27 replica. I''m not a greedy man.
  18. I used a 3 puck ceramic with a sprung centre. Unfortunately, with decent horses, something is always going to go somewhere. Mine used to let go third about once a year. If you toughen the box, axles will let go. bigger axles, diffs. better diff, back to gearbox. Repeat. If you go backwards in clutch you'll lose hp at the wheels. What hp do you have at the wheels?
  19. Somewhere in Nth Wales. Somewhere else in Nth Wales. Somewhere in my Garage.
  20. Park it off street and get a big black dog. :lock:
  21. I already have my ideal Toyotas. :lock:
  22. How much money do you have? How handy are you with a spanner? How many points do you have left on your license? What do you want in a car? What do you want to do with it? Etc. When you can answer these questions, and more, get back to us.
  23. There is a difference between a general off topic thread, and stuff you should be MSN-ing. The O/T thread was really just a waste of space, and could easily have been done by PM or MSN. The Mods have better things to do all day than go through your tripe.
  24. Lady Elliot Island.
  25. Yep. Fuel delivery problem. Start with the filter and work from there.
