  1. Dunno. Got to remember that most of my running was being done with the wheels spinning, so maybe the engine wasn't being loaded up and could spin quicker. We set our timing about 12 btdc and used 2 x single carbs as the had bigger throats than the proper 3kb carbs. IMO a 5k should rev harder than a 4k as it has a better bore to stroke ratio. Also, the exact specs of my cam are a guess. It was re ground to a Wade 169 grind but it might of been different.
  2. AMC doesnt count for VMC points, its just a nice bonus to have it in Vic again. If you do the AMC, you'll have to try and knock off my best result of fourth in class.... Luke there is a challenge for you to prove FWD is quicker :P
  3. Nice to be remembered Used to go to 7500 rpm and over (shift light was set at 7500 rpm) during motorkhanas. This was with a 5k running a 169 grind Wade cam, stock valve train, twin aisan carbs, exhaust and a few other things ;) Also ran an electric fan and fuel pump to reduce drag on the motor. can't remember the exact specs as it was over 10 years ago that the cam was fitted, but a quick search gives around 280 degrees duration and .405" lift. Probably not the best vid to show the revs but
  4. don't have the pic, but a KE70 features in the 2015 R&J Batteries calander
  5. AMC in Bendigo. Just down the road :) Going to have to pencil that one on the calander
  6. No need-everyone knows rwd is faster and sooooo much more fun :P
  7. 8000 was seen on occasion, but that's where the tachometer stopped....
  8. don't worry about it, start it up a couple of weeks before the first round.
  9. Wouldn't want to be arguing that to the insurance company in the event of an accident. Or in a court of law if there is a fatality......
  10. Chopped spring = illegal That said, I ran them for years with out an issue. Best bet would be to obtain some brand name lowered coils for the front with heavier strut inserts and to get your rear leaves reset with some decent rear shocks. For the rear, look at Commodore wagon shocks or early Monaro rear shocks as both will fit (KE35 anyway)
  11. My KE35 was doing the same. The speedo would jump from 60 km/h up to 130 km/h down to 30 km/h. Thought I was pissed. Pulled the cable out and did the grease thing and it was all good. And I did say try. I didn't say it would fix it.........................
  12. try a small dob of grease on the end of the cable where it plugs into the cluster.
  13. You had rubber left! Why don't you have a go :P My best effort was a pair of tyres in one test........
  14. Used to a Civic in Ballarat that ran bike carbs. They used a header tank in the engine bay to gravity feed the carbs. Fuel was pumped into the tank and a return line took care of any excess fuel.
  15. Please, gotta hear this thing in anger!!!! Where is the "This thread is worthless without video" emoticon........... I'm seriously jealous.
  16. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ or Find a car club in your local area and contact them. Some will not be happy if all you are joining up for is to get cheap reg....
  17. Backed off at 160kmh in my first KE35 (5k, modded 3k-b carbs, exhaust etc). Shit myself as the windows got sucked off their seals at around 140kmh and the wind noise trippled ............. My ke20 club car would cover around 2km of dirt track in 90sec - about 2 seconds slower than a modified STI spec WRX
  18. Not involved directly this year - no longer teaching :greenbounce: (now working in the car industry). Still giving advice though and will be volunteering for the event as a flaggie.
