Old thread but... If you are happy to fabricate, why don't you source a tacho from a bike? I imagine it would be fairly compact.

I'm with Jono. 1.5 absolute max. Incomplete car, Hi cam is a meaningless marketing term Toyota used. If I was you I would keep looking around til you get a good feel for the market. They come up regularly

Awesome! I think the reason they are often missing is the weight of the radio causes the corners to crack if the standard bracing isn't used. Update the radio and most people fail to brace it I think. Or they cut it and it looks crap. i reckon you will have no trouble recouping your effort.

Ke15 Steering Wheel Boss - Won't Fit....
parrot replied to silverra23's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
After reading Stu's post yesterday, I spent some time researching it. Seems a KE20 column/steering box bolts in other than need to adapt brackets under the dash. Apparently the pitman arm bolts to the steering box though I think Terryo claimed otherwise. -
Stumbled across this quite well written account of Levin's and Trueno's. Most interesting part is the explanation for the complicated dealer setup in japan, and the reasoning behind the bewildering model array available in japan. Interesting looking binliography also. Note it is 5 pages long. http://ateupwithmotor.com/model-histories/2t-g-corolla-levin/

Ke15 Steering Wheel Boss - Won't Fit....
parrot replied to silverra23's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
The interweb suggests that KE2x and KE1x are supposedly the same boss. I note the SAAS catalogue has different part numbers for KE1x (the one you note) and BK40L for a KE2x. http://www.shopsaas.com/pdf/saas_bossKits.pdf I pulled the boss off my wheel and the only markings are the numbers 7005. If you google steering boss 7005, it comes up as a Momo adapter for a 928 Porsche! I wonder if it is coincidence or real. Then you could have a fancy Celica twin cam wheel on the AE95 and a Porsche 928 wheel on the Sprinter! -
Ke15 Steering Wheel Boss - Won't Fit....
parrot replied to silverra23's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
I have this very tasteful vinyl SAAS wheel on my KE25. It seems to fit nicely on a KE11 steering column I have spare, and also my KE15. There is a horn contact screwed to it, removed in this photo. I can't see a brand on the boss. You are very welcome to borrow on long term loan if you wish? I doubt I will ever use it, but you never know. -
The mechanical bits are pretty straightforward. It is getting the wiring right that is the hard bit. so often it's bodged up to "get it running". Don't believe anyone that tells you different. Just look at the multitude of threads for people whose cars won't run right.

2Tg Rear Main Seal Same As 4A?
parrot replied to Mechanical Sympathy's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
Genuine 2T# rear main seal is 90311-75113 per Oct 75 parts book, but number could have been superceded. A motors obviously didn't exit then. If you plug that part number into toyodiy, you will see it's common to lots and lots, including AE71. Note the 2TG inlet gasket is in the gasket library if you just want to cut your own. -

But in the end the engineer decides what he (or she?) will sign off on. You are probably best off contacting an engineer for advice. There is a list available on the Vicroads website.
-
Correct. If an engine is fitted into a chassis that never originally had that engine factory fitted IN AUSTRALIA, it requires engineering in Victoria. Thus a 4AGE into an AE86 requires engineering here.

I had a good result with the permatex product on a pinhole in a lightly creased tank. Easy to use, obviously need to be scrupulous with surface prep.

Has Anyone Cracked Open A Chrome Side Mirror?
parrot replied to rjenman's topic in KExx Corolla Discussion
I tried on a KE20 mirror. The glass was impossible to extract without breaking it, and the plastic seal got pretty messed up. -
I forgot this too. David Copperfield is easily the best Dicken's. A number of his others are a little predictable, preaching and melodramatic. Considering the time they were written, and how they were originally published (in instalments) this isn't necessarily surprising. David Copperfield has a degree of autobiographical content which is fascinating in itself. In the midst of "A very long engagement" by Sebastien Japrisot at the moment. Story essentially is five first world war french soldiers court martialled for self inflicted wounds in order to get away from the front. They are then marched to the front and bundled out of the trench toward the german lines with hands bound behind their backs. Fiancee of one learns of this after the war and seeks to find out what happened. Loving it. Picked up a couple of Tom Clancy books the other week for a rainy week at the beach. Films are good, so they can't be too bad? And re read the Odessa file in one day over the school holidays. Awesome.

Went to Centre Rd yesterday which was a true joy in the hail and sleet that hit when I was at the very back of the yard. Thank god for Corona station wagons with open tailgates. I had to stick my nose in front of the heater vent when I got back to it. Nothing exciting in the yard, but interestingly there was an AE86 trueno rolling shell in the holding yard to the side. From it's stance I assume it had an engine insitu, the interior was stuffed full of bumpers and other bits and bobs. It looked like an abandoned project as the body was in various shades of primer. Had a carbon fibre effect bonnet but sounded metal? Funny place for it to end up. Had "hold" scrawled on the screen so not sure what they plan for it.

Ha! Generally speaking none of these parts are available here either! It's a matter of trawling the world in my experience. The main problem with using bigger brakes is the steering arm. As above you need to access TE27 steering arms, usually from the USA (try 3TCgarage.com - expensive from Japan) or AE86 power steering arms (either OEM or bling technotoytuning items) with the taper insert. You need these in order to bolt up struts that can carry the brakes. The bolt spacing of the KE25 arms is too close. Then you have issues with camber requiring coilover struts etc etc. It is all surmountable, with time effort and cash! All this has been discussed on here so search around.

If you search the Hella part number, other options come up. This one is a five pin, but not sure of voltage i.e. http://www.ebay.de/itm/Zeitrelais-HELLA-5HE-996-152-131-Guenstig-amp-Schnell-/251551103099?_trksid=p2054897.l4275 That's about $59 if they will post It obviously has an OEM role. Interior light dimmer, rear window demister imer? Perhaps a forage in the euro section at your local pickapart?
-
TE27 brakes are identical to TA22. No yours won't be good as above, so time for you to do a bit of research
-
TE27 brake master is mounted in a different position, more over toward the strut tower. You either need to source a TE27 pedal box or get inventive in modifying yours. This is necessary also as otherwise the carbs will hit the master

With a stock radiator, the clearance is certainly minimal. I assume you have used a TE2x crossmember rather than mod the KE25 one? Other than that, the A/C condenser would sit in front of the radiator so shouldn't impact on your clearance.
