  1. Cusco actually make adjustable camber tops for te37. Perhaps you could assume that it would fit a ke30/ke55 as well? Checkout the Cusco .pdf catalog here (pillow ball upper mount): http://www.cusco.co.jp/en/parts_product/pa...list/index.html There's a strut brace listed for the te37 as well.
  2. Saw a white KE25 with te27 flares in Argyle street car park (Hobart). Looks pretty good :P
  3. Sounds like a good idea. Good torque. Even with the 1.6L Escort the power seemed OK for running around town (noticeable difference after driving the corolla with a 4K). The gearbox shifts nice and tight. The bonus with the 2L pinto is that its got a 32/26 weber on the engine as stock; saw an engine in a Cortina out the tip the other day.
  4. Nice Ride. Did you leave the original oil pick up and sump in the 3sge; and kept the engine on a lean? Does the gear stick lean over or is it up straight?
  5. Saw an 1981 corolla coupe, with 5 speed, rego, in the Mercury paper today, $500 ono. Already sold :( anyone off here managed to score it?
  6. With the A-series bellhousing (AE71), the clutch fork is on the left hand side (opposite to the T-series).
  7. Yes, fairly rare in Australia. Known as a 3KB; had twin Aisan downdraught carburetors, water heated manifold. Came in KE15 sprinters.
  8. My bonnet lifts up a bit when passing a big truck on the highway; feel the air catching up underneath it. Worn bonnet latch. The bonnet pin set pictured on the right looks alright, with the rubber mounts; added security with the locks. Be a prick if the keys got lost. The one on the right for the traditional look. Could get ones which have wire attached to the pins so they don“t get lost or knocked off.
  9. My KE30 consumes approximately 12L/100km for regular town driving; and around 10L/100km for highway driving (~4000 rpm, 4th gear, at 100 km/hr). The engine is a stock 5K, with a two inch exhaust system.
  10. Saw an orange/browny KE20 outside Hobart TAFE in the city today, with hotwire mags.
  11. Nice clean ke25 :y: Was that the original pain job, or has it been redone?
  12. Saw a AE71 out at the wreckers at Brighton the other day, with the 4AC and T50
  13. If you do a bit of highway driving, then a 5th gear would be beneficial. Brings down the rpm, therefore use less petrol; it does make quite a difference. Seems like petrol prices are just going to keep rising, so an investment into a 5 speed would be worth while. Look for a K50 gearbox out of a KE55.

    Spotted Qld

There is a KE70 CS 5 speed sitting at the roundabout in Dixon street, Auchenflower (near Wesley Hospital). Been there for two weeks. Appears to be abandoned; no number plates or registration sticker. Parts :lolcry:
  15. ebay kp61 have similar crossmember?
  16. A polishing kit can be bought at hardware stores like K&D, for around $30 I think. The kit includes two polishing wheels (coarse and soft), that can be easily fitted to a regular power drill, and buffing compound.
  17. The rocker cover could also be polished nice and shiny; suits old school cars.
  18. Looks similar to my KE30, what year is yours 75 or 76?
  19. I'm looking for a KE55 K50 shifter, anyone have one?
  20. There's a supercharged 7K in a publica ute, shown in the Rides & Projects section. Might give you some inspiration link
  21. Looks pretty good. Nice wide bore and short stroke. 400HP @ 10,000 rpm with stock street cams. Weighs only 200 lbs (90 Kg). Lighter than a K engine? I wonder what the price is?
  22. The shifter would be further back if a KE70 K50 gearbox is used in a KE30, there's info about it here: The speedo drive in the KE70 K50 may be different to the earlier ones, so the speedo might be out a bit; they can be easily changed over.
  23. Got a set of KE55/KE70 factory wheels if anyone is interested: for sale section
  24. I noticed the rattle noise in my 5K is louder when the timing is advanced more. At 20 degrees its fairly noisey, and setting it to 10 degrees is OK, but the noise is still there. I drove it daily for 9 months after setting it to 10 degrees, and the noise became progressively quieter, especially when highway driving, but it was because the timing went out to 0-5 degrees.
