Hi, I have a ke20 with a 3k and k40 and my clutch cable is on full adjustment and really should be adjusted further. The clutch fork is forward of centre in the released positsion and comes very far forward when the clutch is depressed. It looks as though the throw out bearing/bearing retained should be longer? Is there more then one length across the models? I know my 3k is an orgional ke20 item, and I have the thicker of the 2 engine backing plates. The gearbox is a ke20 k40 with the extension housing changed to the ke30. Any advis would be great. P.s. I have done a seaech and found a thread that stated the bearing number is the same from ke15 to ke7…

In my continuing bid to circumvent the AE series diagonal braking and aid in the installation of a Hydraulic handbrake, I've been investigating twin master cylinder pedal boxes with a balance bar. The fabrication shouldn't be a problem and it looks like you can get pre-fabbed balance bars off e-bay for reasonable dollars, so it's all down to pedal lengths, pivot points and actual master cylinder sizes. The standard bore on an AE92 m/cyl is 15/16" (23.8mm) and consulting the TRD bible on AE's, they claim to be using a 7/8" (22.2mm) for the front and a 13/16" (20.6mm) for the rear. And this is some of what isn't making sense to me at the moment. The Grp A Corolla's were u…

Hello to all. this is my first mechanical question....so be gentle. There is a growing trend in the US of removing all mufflers from your car and puting a turbo in the location where the rear muffler was. So I'm thinking about doing this to a ke55 coupe and would just like to get any thoughts from you all. Is this a good idea? will it be to loud with no muffs? Has any one else done this? So heres the plan..... step 1. An exhaust pipe runs to the back of the car and into a turbo 2. Air is drawn in from the rear under the car? I'm a little worried about sucking in water when its wet. another idea is to…

Hi all. Have been trying to find this information myself, been looking through faq and other places. I am putting AE86 front struts and some other 86 suspension gear into the front of my KE70 Pano. The only thing I need to get now is springs, I want to keep it Stock height, it sounds strange but the stock height suits me perfect for what I use it for. I can't find the stock front spring heights for both AE86 and KE70 to compare, they have a difference king spring part number so I can see the car will either be higher or lower so if anyone has the measurements that would be great.

Hiya all, Has anyone had experience before of a wheel spontaneously locking up? The rear right on my KE36 panelvan locks up after being stationary or while in 1st gear. a number of mechanics and brakes specialists have looked at it and it still hasnt been diagnosed. I think the diff is ok, also the gearbox, and i think its probs just the old brake cylinder, but?? Would anyone have any pointers? I've been a bit stumped by it, and need to get it fixed asap, so i gotta find a good corolla mechanic in Hobart area. Cheers all, go well..

Hey guys on my two rear tires i have a small egg or bulge on each tire? Their pretty minor (pictured is the worst one) and don't seem to effect how the tires run. Does anyone know why this happens or if i can get rid of it? Ive been told its possible that the tires are not seated corrected? I would usually just get new tires but these tires are almost brand new and are good bridgestones. Since i haven't brought them myself (came with the car) i can't take them back of course. Can anyone give me some advice?

After asking around a few forums and not really getting a good answer. I'm putting my car back together for track purposes and was looking at RCA's and NCRCA's. Now i know majority of people will run a set up consisting of, Longer lower control arms (xt130, sigma etc) coilovers (~8kg springs), camber tops, lock spacer, ae86 PS arms and RCA's. Which gives you, more track, negative camber and reduced bump steer So i currently have t3 camber tops, stock LCA's, t3 coilover kit on ae86 struts (8kg springs, trd yellows), ae86 PS arms, lock spacer and have been considering NCRCA's but the general feedback is not to run them because they are "crap". But they do the same thi…

i have a hydraulic clutch system where the pedal feels spongy, doesn't return fully all the time, and even stays depressed when you take your foot off. when the pedal stays depressed the clutch is not disengaged (ie it is connected to the engine). I cannot gain access to the slave cylinder as it is inside the bellhousing and not visible, however the fluid level is good, it doesn't appear to be leaking any fluid, there is no sign of any fluid at the master cylinder, and I have bled the system quite thoroughly. I'm seeking to diagnose whether this is the master or slave cylinder that is the issue - before I remove the gearbox or anything overly enthusiastic. I was w…

Hey guys I've got a strange issue with my KE20 currently. I'm getting a clunk every now and then while driving coming from the rear passenger wheel. When I jack up the car and get the rear wheels off the ground I'm able to pull on the wheel and feel it pull about 1-2mm towards me, but this is only at a single point on the wheel. Ive already replaced the wheel bearing but they didn't seem to fix it? There was alot of play in the old bearing. And before anyway asks every bolt is very tight! Any ideas?? The Axel looked normal when i took it out??

First off, i'm James. Just purchased my first car. An 83 KE70 along with and engine to re-build and fit. A 4AGE silvertop 20v to be exact. Anyway, my question is, because my rolla is an auto (ex shopping trolly owned by a nice old lady) and with the intention of turning it in a little dori monster i'm going to have to convert it to a manual. Now i'm not worried about the actual fitting of the box as being in the trade i have the tools and hoists at my dispence, what i do need to know though is what gearbox i should be sourceing? From what i've read it should be a T-50? My other question is for the time being i want to put the box on the back of the stock engine, while in …

I have checked everything you can think of. It has plenty of spark plenty of fuel, distributor is in correct (checked 7 times, the firing order is correct. Any thoughts? Anyone? Its doing my head in.

I want to fit Air conditioning into my 1994 Corolla Seca AE101. It has the 4age 20 valve silvertop engine in it at the moment and the air compressor is ALREADY attached but it requires everything else as it didn't come standard with AC. 1. Does anyone know what AC kits from what model corollas would fit to the compressor already attached to the silvertop engine? Are they interchangeable? 2. Can you recommend a wrecker for me to call that might have this part or deals with corollas? 3. Would it be hard to fit myself? The compressor is already attached to the engine so I imagine the dashboard needs removal to install the buttons/interface and the radiator would…

Hi all. In the past I've seen people hunting down replacement gaskets, and often they can't get them without buying a new part (water pump etc) or a complete VRS kit. I may be able to help out, if you can let me know of any you can think of that are a pain to find let me know. Not just Corolla gaskets, any gaskets you've had trouble finding in the past. Let me know if I get enough interest then I might get some made up.

Hi Guys, I am starting to pull down my ke20 for a tidyup and was wondering how to remove the gutters trim. Would like t know if there is a special way to do this to avoid damaging them. Also, what have people used to reseal the gutters. I'm looking at removing the old sealant and running a wire brush along to clean them up. I have noticed a slight rusty stain in a couple of spots so want to hit it before it takes hold ( will use rust convertor as well if needed ). Cheers Dale

My ke35 corolla has developed a unusual screeching/squeel noise, its running gear consists of a 4age smallport, and later model adm t50 gearbox. Went into a workshop to get rear main seal replaced due to oil leak, while there got the stock flywheel slightly lightened/balanced and new stock pbr clutch kit installed as my clutch was on its last legs. Pretty much from the get go 15 mins driving home i noticed a squeel when not in gear just idle, doesnt go away if i press clutch in or release.. however its seems to disapear be alot less when in gear moving...also when getting moving when put in first and release clutch to engage gear i can hear light clunk noise the…
