  1. Hello, I'm a newbie to the whole cars scene, well relatively, i owned a prelude before i purchased this corolla. i just purchased this short shifter, cause i thought that it would be easier to shift gears in, cuz currenty when i chuck it in second, it gets stuck before getting in, and its really annoying, makes me look stupid soo i purchased this short shifter off ebay, and i want to know if it would make it easier to shift gears in, my current shifter has been cut, to be shorter, but i thought short shifters are able to make changing gears 50% more easier or something. i really should of asked here before purchasing it...

  3. Hey all, in the process of (well trying to...) change shocks and springs in my KE70 front struts. Both struts are out of the car but I'm damned if I can even start to dismantle them. I can't crack the top nut under the dust cap. Trying to do so just turns the shock absorber. Is there a trick to stop the shock turning or is it more a case of using a rattle gun or some such? I'm sure the whole process is fairly simple I've just never done it before and gregory's is of very little help. Any ideas greatly appreciated.

Guys I have a 5 speed box from a KE55, what do I need to do to the box to make it fit in my KE70? The KE70 box is longer and is only a 4 speed... ive had a look at the Knowledge Base and it mentioned that 4 & 5 speed extension housings arent interchangable to each other. Does it mean though, that I can put the 5 speed KE70 extension housing on the KE55 5 speed box and fit it into my KE70? are the front part of the boxes the same.... thanks

The Car I am looking at has some rust in a couple of area whihc I would love to look at the body structure BEFORE cutting the car. Hi guys could someione please help me, I'm having trouble with the idle on my 4k. currently it is stock except for full exhaust twin carbs and extractors. The trouble i am having is that the idle will never stay at 1 point it seems to stick when i rev and then will randomly drop down when it feels like it, usually very inconvenient times. first i thought it would have been in the throttle cable or linkages but its not, then someone said it would be the dizzy balance weights, so i fully stripped, cleaned, greased and rebuilt my dizzy, now the revs don't stick as frequently but everytime i turn the idle down, when it does its random drop to what i presume it should…

  11. Hi all, Just wondering what people think of the 45 DCOE weber carbs... I'm putting together a turbo 3TC, currently have a 3TGTE Exhaust and inlet manifold, a T28 Turbo, and looking at suitable carbs for a blow thru setup, and came across a 45DCOE 14 weber at a fairly reasonable price. Seeing as I got no idea about webers (having been spawned of holden and holley origins) would these be suitable to run in a blow thru setup? I'm aware of the need to fully enclose the unit (or mod to handle boost) and run a rising rate fuel pressure reg, but just wanting to know what sort of flow this sucker would have on a 3T under about 12-14 psi? Just want to make su…

Hey guys, I just have a little question regarding running a reground cam profile in my 5K engine I am in the process of building. Now, I am aware that having the cam shaft reground will have an affect on lifter preload and valve clearances, but what I am unsure about is how to correct this as there is no way to adjust the rocker gear as the 5K has hydraulic lifters, and I don't particularly want to convert to solids. Basically, if the cam lobe diameters have been reduced by x, that means that the pushrods will be now that much too short for the rocker arms, am I correct? :'( So, if I get the head shaved by the same value x, will that cancel out the reduction of t…

Hi Guys We over tighted one of the bolts and the head came off, we are using stud removers to get it out but it broke off. We need to get the pump off so we can get a better look at the stuck bolt. We removed all the bolts and I think we are stuck on the strainer, is there a technique to get it off without removing the sump pan? If we need to remove the sump pan, is there a way to get off without removing the engine?? Any help appreciated, and urgently needed, thanks so much Mike P.S Also Posted on Toymods

Ok folks, I am still beating myself up over what to use for my ignition control. I'm still thinking the Jaycar Prog Ignition, but I've also started looking at the MSD gear because I have spare money.. I like the jaycar item because its cheap and I can get 2d curve control (MAP or TPS) as well as knock sensing. I've been looking at the MSD stuff, but I just can't seem to get that same functionality. Can anyone who has used MSD gear, whether on a rolla or something else perhaps post up details of their setup? Cheers Tom.

I'm having some fuel troubles with my car and it would seem that my main pump is draining the surge tank faster then the lift pump can fill it as I found out after some "spirited" driving. Whats happening is the main pump hums along in the back and all is well until you give it some stick, after which the the main pump starts to make a gargling sort of noise like it's not getting enough fuel. Then it all comes to a spluttering stand still. After an hour or so it will fix its self enough to get it home (small town where anywhere is close to everywhere) Anyway I was thinking about one of these carter electric fuel pumps 72g/h (273L/h) at 7psi suitable for 450hp. Mo…

  36. Warning! This might take a minute or 2 to load. (Thought I should put this in a new thread too) I got bored and did a 3D model to explain what words have great difficulty to express. This comes up so often it needs to be explained properly. Steering arms are meant to act on the same plane as the steering rack. The further you are from the plane of the steering rack, the more bump steer you get as the steering arm moves in and out as the strut compresses and rebounds because the pin for the tie rod is not perpendicular with the rack. Don't try and look at the whole thing, just watch the link pin for the tie rod end. Not 100% to scale, but it clearly …

The wheel is 350mm, so its only like 20mm smaller than the original so i'm not too worried about that, its the boss kit i'm concerned about. Hi people, I am new here and this is my first post. I'm from the UK and I own a 2003 Corolla 1.4 T3 VVTI. I bought it as my A-B car and wanted to modify it a bit. I want to use all genuine Toyota parts, everything was going well until I got to the wheels. There is not many 17" Toyota rims that are 4x100 here. I saw a set of Celica rims I really like and was wondering whether it would be possible to convert my hubs to run on the celica fitment of 5x100? So I want to ask How difficult would this be and what parts would I need? This car is for keeps so I would not mind to work on it and spend a bit of money to get this done. Any advice would be much appreciated. :P
