  1. *sigh* I know. Although I don't go in members rides that often, it's really becoming a problem (again) in the for sales area. This was the topic for a previous vent (that would be here: http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=13869) but I felt like we really needed to go back to the basics here, as I'm getting a heap of "can you please open my thread, I didn't know" PM's. Get pulled over by the police and try that one on, and you get the "Ignorance is no excuse" talk. Which is what I've now adopted. :lolcry: Just remember that we already spend a great deal of time in here behind the scenes, and sorting out shit fights between keyboard warriors who apparently know better than me is not a highlight. I'm actually typing this in a cafe in Auckland, when I should be checking my work emails. It might be worth the thread starter to take a bit of ownership of his/her thread and either pulling people into line, or telling them (politely) to bugger off. I must say I'm not a fan of moderation of threads. I personally don't like doing it, and much prefer to let things run there natural course. Within reason. I think that Rollaclub is reasonably successful due to the fact that there isn't a lot of moderation. However the responsibility of this also lies upon the shoulders of the community at large. A certain amount of self regulation/ policing is required for things to run smoothly. Suffice to say that your comments have been noted, and hopefully the community at large will take note. (Ay.) Cheers R
  2. Yep. The Rose's were part owners of BGT brake and clutch in Hawthorn. The Celica was owned by a father and son who were panel beaters, and good mates with the Roses. I don't know where the Celica ended up, but when I'm back in the country again I can do some finding out. One thing is for certain is that it will never see the road again. It had a serious Jenny Craig diet, so odds are that it's still a race car somewhere. The Cars ran in the Quin Sprint series through the Mid 90's as well as alot of other club sprints. I don't think they were ever in the state race series. Are you a member of TCCA? Cheers Rob
  3. Let it be known to all that there is a zero tolerance on not putting your location in a classified advert. Be that for sale or wanted to buy. Your thread WILL be closed with no correspondence being entered into. Please don't go bleating to a Moderator to re-open it. Swallow your pride, start a new thread and get over it. Even better, put your location in your profile, that way you never have to worry about forgeting again. Excessive bumping is also on the rise as well. Please familiarise yourself with the Rollaclub policy which is slightly different to other boards. Particularly this bit: 7. You are not allowed to "bump" (reply) or revise your item more than 2 times in any week or your item(s) will be removed. Excess "bumping" is unnecessary and very annoying. No bumps are allowed within the first 5 days of posting your item. We are happy for you to answer any questions asked in your thread, but we would really like to see at least four days between discussion/activity and bumping. Use your common sense people. If everyone plays by the rules, it becomes fair and equitable to all. Threads are closed for good reason. Don't bitch about it, and if your going to have a go at mods in a subsequent thread, you had better; 1 Have a damn good reason. 2 Have all your facts right. If it's me, and I've made a mistake, I'll admit it. (Can and have before) If you up me because deep down you can't accept that you've made a mistake, you're in for a world of virtual hurt. Mod's don't get paid for the job they are doing, and, I'll be blunt, this isn't a democracy. You're here due to the good will of a number of people who keep this board going. Abide by the quite simple rules and everything will be peace, love and mung beans. Regards, Redwarf
  4. Christ, I think I wrote an article in the edition....... As you probably already know, the celica and corolla were run as a sort of 2 car team. I always liked the corolla more. :lolcry:
  5. standard tools, a Gregory's manual if you haven't done it before, and a torque wrench. (Last one very important.) I can do one in around an hour on a standard car. If you haven't done one, three maybe four hours. Kits available through any car parts store, and while it's off, you may as well send the head for a quick reco (around$300, but money well spent).
  6. (Slaps head with hand) Yep, Doug's right (as usual). A well sorted pair of SU's go really well. I had a set before the Weber's started breeding under my house. They're a better prospect overall (size, fit, filters) than Webers.
  7. Yes you can fit Webers/ Dellortos/ Paper Weights (oh, sorry, Solexs... :)) onto a K in a ten. The issue comes with adequate air filters. I haven't seen a good solution to this yet. My theory is if motor bike carbs were that good, everybody would be using them. If you can get around the filter issue, Webers are the item each and every time.
  8. Bolts gearbox x-member to chassis: M10 x 1.25 about 30mm long Box to block: M12 x 1.25, various lengths Front guard to chassis. Either M6 x 1.0 or M8 x 1.25, I can't remember which, although probably the former, as that's what all the top ones are. Tail shaft: M8 sounds about right, but you definitely want high tensile. R
  9. OMG. Has anybody thought to look at the dates from this thread????
  10. If you fit ANY seat that is not ADR approved for THAT particular car, you need a blue plate. If memory serves, you will also need to put new inertia reel seat belts in, too.
  11. Pinned for easy access for nuff nuffs. I'd FAQ it, but I struggle to type my name. Good write up. :POSTPICS!:
  12. Without wanting to sound harsh, it could be because nobody at the moment wants to write out again what is freely available if you have a bit of a look around this and other forums. All the info you want is here, you just have to search for it.
  13. Because although the boxes are the same length, the shift hole is in a different position. Hence you had to make the hole bigger. Happy?
  14. Spend the money. Buy the mounts. Do it properly.
  15. Not as far as i know.......
  16. Corolla's come with a two piece shaft??? :lolcry: Not the ones I've played with!
  17. Dry ice apparently is the go. Comes up a treat so I've heard. A heat gun melts it and makes it all gooey = Bad I'm old school: Hammer, chisel, beer, weekend.
  18. This topic has been flogged to death more than once. You'll find that if you use the search function above, and do a bit of research, you may not have to ask as many questions.
  19. Call me stupid, but aren't you the person who was going to prove us all wrong with the amount of Hp you were going to get out of a K motor? Now you want us to tell you how to do it as well? Dude, take it to a DECENT workshop, they'll do the calculations and get it right. Don't necessarily go with the cheapest option. Mine has virtually nothing taken off the current head, but with the pistons i'm running, it's 10.8:1. I had an old head that had .125 off it. The previous motor had i think about .090 off it and was 10ish to 1 (don't recall, it's been a while.) You've got to trust someone sometime, and most of them have been at it far longer than you. I have complete and utter faith in the person I use. He's a guru as far as I'm concerned. What you should be asking is, "hey guys, what machine shop in Adelaide do you recommend?"
  20. You already have a thread running on this car. http://www.rollaclub.com/board/index.php?showtopic=19649
  21. Yes. You can possibly do it with it in, but easier with it out. Trim off, three screws across the top of the dash, unplug speedo cable, pull big arse elec plug out of dash, and disconnect headlights/ wipers/ hazards. There may also be a nut/bolt at the very back of the dash, just to really screw you over.
  22. Smart car + Hyabusa = Apologies if people have seen it elsewhere.
