  1. You should be able to slightly change the mixture with the idle screws, there is one above each bore. If your idle jets are way off this might not be enough though. Try to keep them the same number of turns out from seated.
  2. No, brakes will not fit to my knowledge, the bolt spacing is different between KE70 and AE86. Yes, ball joints and tie rods are the same, I'm using KE70 stuff with AE86 P/S arms now. I've currently got mine bolted to TE72 struts, I believe they will also bolt to XT130. One thing to keep in mind is that if you fit kings and then change struts they probably won't fit your new struts as spring seats are often different. Yes, strut tube sizes are the same. The shocks I have in my TE72 tubes are suitable for AE86 as well apparently. Last time I looked at XT130 the size was similar too. Generally with aftermarket shocks you take into account slight insert variations with spacers. KE70 arms are not compatible with anything good, get rid of the whole strut and arms.
  3. The calipers seem OK, but they'll only fit solid disks. What stub axle options do you have?
  4. Congrats on the result guys, you must be stoked to finally get some pay off :)
  5. Google it. There are volumes about this stuff out there. Even wikipedia will give you pretty concise explanations of most suspension concepts. No point getting forum guys to type it all again unless they're trying to get their post count up :)
  6. Gallery looks good! Massive +rep to ironkin. It wouldn't be a small job converting it all over. It seems to have gone pretty well.
  7. Nice work ironkin :) (useless post to test issue...) And indeed it's fixed.
  8. Cool. Let me know if you want anything else viewed/tested. Actually, I'm also getting my replies added to the very bottom of the page, after the add, social media links and list of members reading the forum. Is that intended? Using Chrome.
  9. First up, nice work, the new site sure looks purdy! :) I'm getting a rendering bug where there are two squares in some posts that look like text input boxes. I'd paste in a screen dump but I can't seem to get pictures to work at all. I can email it if you PM for an address. Happens in Chrome 18.0.1025.152 m on XP and the latest Safari on OS X SL. It can be seen on towe001 post in the "Rollaclub Will Be Unavailable" topic in News. Post number #7. No doubt there's bigger fish to fry, but I thought I'd register it :)
  10. Nice! Good job on the Sparco for $150 too!
  11. I can't quite work out if you're going slant to flat or vice versa, but the real challenge is the head light mounts. You'll either have to make up some mounts for swap the whole radiator support panel.
  12. Yeah, I have to say, it is awesome. Climbing is OK, I've got it built on the heavier side so that's to be expected, but boy does it rip down! The only down side at the moment is I managed to crack my 2009 version, then the 2010 they replaced it with. I now have a 2011 that looks awesome but I can't put a chain guide on it! :/ It's kinda noisy at the moment. But yes, the 36's suit it very very well :)
  13. Not much to report yet. Seeing that I've got such a long break I've been concentrating on house stuff etc. I did pick up some stock KE70 rear springs. My hope was that they would be softer. Installing one it's raised my ride height vs the AE86 springs by about 30mm and going by the numbers on an online spring rate calculator they aren't any softer either. Damn! I may have to get some custom wound. I'm also making progress selling stuff in an effort to fund a 4AGE :)
  14. Sweet, my kind of thread! I'm running a Giant Reign 0 with Fox Talas 36's on the front, x.9 stuff and ex721 rims. It does well, I do a bit of DH to get to work. :) Also have a little STP with Argyles for doing the pump track/jump thing. She's getting a bit dusty at the moment though :/ I'll have to take a photo when I finally get them clean! :)
  15. Most likely the 4K ones if you're using a 4K block and it's taller. You might have to fiddle around a bit though, I'm not sure if the 3K bigport head height is different to a 4K head. Ideally you need to make sure the rockers wipe the end of the valves at a reasonable angle. If they don't you can raise or lower the rocker shaft to adjust. Or fitting a ground cam also changes things.
  16. I know it's a filthy Ford, but this is how the Escort boys used to do trailing links in the Escorts with leaf springs. It got them to world championships, so it's probably a good starting point for a KE2x. http://www.rallyanarchy.com/EscortRallyPrep/Suspension%20Rear.pdf
  17. Ah the joys of different part counter guys.
  18. This should be a TTE TE27 diff I think. It sort of looks like there are longitudinal links as well as leaf spring mounts. Check out the photo stream though, very interesting stuff! Edit: post the link moron! :) http://flic.kr/p/4t531h
  19. I described the part, they said they had it. Ring a Toyota parts counter.
  20. So that's your secret weapon :)
  21. I talked to Toyota and they claimed to have a bush available for my car, an '84 KE70. Apparently there is a change over at some stage, so the bush is different to earlier '70's. YMMV :)
  22. My setup isn't in the car yet, but I've put an AE71 sourced clutch fork and bits into a JDM bell and it looks to be fine. I still have to source a dust boot, so I can't confirm that. If you're wanting to run a 3.89 then I would definitely not try and find a CR kit. It will be a slug to get off the line. I'm pretty sure AE86 T series are generally 4.3. Despite that I wouldn't change the gears. A CR kit is for when you will be working in a narrower speed range. If it's for street driving, keep it to the stock ratios. The nice thing about the 20V is the VVT, so it should be nice and drivable as well as being able to rev when you want it.
  23. Yes, that's what we're talking about. PM me to discuss further.
  24. Yeah, but isn't that top gear? :) Decide what you want with the car. If it's clean and 100% original maybe you have some reason to keep it that way. Personally, I'd swap it to manual, but driving an auto is dull for me. You'll probably getter better performance as people have mentioned.
  25. I have a '70 carb. You can have it.
