Hello all. Wondering if anyone can help me with some info. I have an ae92 corolla which "shudders" but only when in reverse. It's more noticable when the clutch is being released. There's no vibration at all in any forward gears so i'm guessing it's not the the clutch that's buggered. Any info would be appreciated. Cheers.

Hey Guys, Well my project has been going super slow (4KTE), got all the parts, just need to put it together. Ive got a 4K-U engine with dished pistons (can tell by the two lumps on the head under plugs 1 & 4). soon ill be getting a head off a regular flat-top 4k (in order to drop CR) my question is is it a straight swap? pull off my head and put the "new" one on? or do i have to swap over the push rods or anything like that? second Q is.. Where can i find ARP Head Studs and Bolt? since i will be boosting, and quite a bit i recon, i want the head to sit nice and tight.. Thanks, David

I'm about to buy a set of camshafts for my 4age 20v blacktop there going to be 272 with 8.5 lift .would i have to change the springs ? and is that the best profile for hill climbs as i want a lot of bottom end power

Hi there, I have 90% done my 4age in ke70 conversion :) now as for the exhaust, I have got a quote to do a whole exhaust system custom made for it ($1100). But i am broke, do I have any other option, can I get exhaust headers for an ae86 corolla and weld them up to either the original system or a slightly better one. will the ae86 corolla exhaust headers work in a KE70. Thanks for your help in advance !

As the tittle says i need help and i did search thruout forum BUT may have been searching for the wrong thing. Changing globes in ke70? mainly park light and reverse light do i need to take complete light out meaning tail light and headlights or can i just do 1 at a time? thanks and yes i know I'm sorry coz I'm gunna get in trouble for looking up the wrong thing

Hi, I have just got a 1600 2t out of a celica for free and i currently have a 4-ac with a t50 box, i know that the 2t comes stock with a t52 but i wanted to know if a 2t could go in to a t50. Also i was wondering is it worth it, replacing a 4-ac with a 2t. I believe that the 4ac puts out about 90hp (may be less as is the aus version and haven't taken the pollution gear off yet) and i think the 2t puts out about 100hp (not so sure about that)

hey guys i just got my head of my 3k motor ported and mechined the valves liped and new valve stem seals i just put it all back together and it is running like shit i have done the tappet gap and new oil and i still can hear them really bad the timing isnt goin my way either i set the point and did the timing and it is sounding like I'm running on 3 cylinders it is rough as all hell it has heaps of compression? i just don't understand what is wrong and the temperture is geting in the red but it has new thermo stat? can i please have some advice

Hey all, I recently bought a brake/strut upgrade for my KE30 (the hilux/peugot/corona one) which has 5 stud hubs bolted onto the peugot discs. I asked the seller about them and he told me two different things. First he said they are mx63 hubs, and he told me they are expensive and rare. Second he told me they are ms65 hubs. The disc has been modified to fit them. Can anyone tell me how to identify them, or can anyone identify them from the pictures below? I'm after 4 x 114.3 stud pattern, so which hubs can I use for this upgrade? Ive had my small port 4age with manual transmission in a ke35 coupe for a couple of weeks now..... have developed an unusual jolt/shake.... heres what happens.... Normally most felt when in second or third gear going slow (under 40kph) under light accelaration just cruising along, it will be going along fine then suddenly it will start this jolting and shaking as soon as i accelarate abit more it stops......... i had a feeling its a bad/worn clutch but the clutch feels fine otherwise......... could it be engine mounts not good causing this issue???? when under harder load and driving faster will never make this jolt/shake only when at low speeds with small amnt of …

hiya boys, I was hoping some one could clear this up for me. I had my 4a block acid dipped and bored ready for it's rebuild and was told by my father in law that, if i have a engine block acid dipped that i have to replace all the core plugs and any non ferrous metals parts that might be on it. (he is a yardy and has given me heaps of bum steers) I was thinking about replacing them any way, but I wanted to know is: Does the core plug "NEED" to be replaced, is it "just in case" or while it's out do every thing you can. replaced the rear shocks on my ke35 corolla. noticed while car jacked up, with handbrake up fully on i could freely move rear side drivers wheel..... i could also remove the drum with handbrake on. i take it i need to adjust the drum shoes?

What's out there? for a 5 or 6 inch wheel.. as above, to fit a KE20. And where can I get them (second hand prefered)

i found some Hyundai Elantra stockies on ebay and the owner reckons they have 35-45 offset, Question will they rub against my strut in my ke55? will i have to run spacers? Thanks in Advanced Evan

hi, I'm trying to fit the plastics to my ke20 . The ones that fit to the bottom of the dash board across the front. I have the plastic covered ashtray. My problen is, the surround that goes around the ashtray, has four mounting holes. two right underneath, and two at the top. When i place this against the dash the top 2 screw hole positions, don't really line up with anything. Looks as though it screws into the bottom of the heater control panel. In the pictures i have attached are the two holes that I'm asking about. hey all, I'm in great need of some help. i own 2 corollas a ke30 manual and a ke55 auto, long story short the ke55 is now a manual. ive had my share of dramas and managed to battle through, but have come across a problem that i can't fix. the cross member for the manual box doesnt line up with the holes on the ke55, and there is no way to attach the auto cross member to the manual box. is there a easy solution to this problem, cause i need the car back on the road asap. cheers Jarrod

I have been lucky enough to become the proud owner of a set of Twin 40 DOCE webers to fit to my newly fitted 5k in my Ke20........they were originally off a 2L Escot and l was wondering if l will have any issue when fitting these? They will need to be jetted down to suit the 5k i think but l wasnt sure what else l should source for the conversion? i have tracked down a manifold to suit and will be running 2' pipes through, but l was wondering if all the linkages and stuff will convert across. There seems to be a few more holes in the escort manifold than is on my 5k twin weber manifold? Will l need to drill holes in the manifold to suit? Any help on this conversion in…

just bought a ke30 with th e3k engine and as you would know its got shit all power, i was thinking about turboing it and was just wondering what would be a good selection of turbo to get that extra power ?? any sugestions thanks :)

Hi, I own a vw beetle but am working on a 1997 toyota corrolla 3 litre. Its timing belt is loose and needs to be tightened. Is there a tensioner or do i need a new belt. Sorry for the newb questions but ive only worked on aircooled vws.

hey all. Ive got a 4age with twin solex 40PHH Carbs. Ive just got it started and running. It runs but not well. It had no power, wouldnt go over 10-15ks, was back firing out the exhaust and out of the carbs. Ive checked the timing, thats all good and i can think of what else would be causing it. Hey guys, I got a 4agze in an ae82 rolla it has a front mount but it is leaking, is it possible to run it without the cooler and not cause damage to the charger or motor it is runnning standard everything, i really don't got the cash to fix it or buy another only an apprentice. any help is appreciated.

i have a ae95 and i may be buying some nice bathurst globes only problem they are 4x114.3 not 4x100 is there a way to make them fit like a plate or spacer or something i need to know asap any advice would be great thanks

Looking at upgrading my suspension in ke70, just checking what the go is. If i'm looking to do it in stages, ie springs first the shocks, is that a bad idea......i can't really see why it wouldn't, but just wanting to clarify Also if I'm upgrading to "low" springs, will the shocks i need to buy be different, such as short stroke, or does this apply for different purposes? Hey guys I'm looking to put a 5 speed in the KE20 but i have been told that you can only use a starlet 5 speed and not a KE70 because the gear changer lever is futher back. is this true?

hey guys as you might know I'm building a 4agte ae71. i was just wonderin what it takes to bolt a turbo onto a 4age. ive got the oil and water lines and the mechanical side figured, but I'm just a bit stumped on what to do about the effects of boost on the map sensor and the ecu. i have read that a simple 1 way valve sliped into the map sensor line will allow me to run boost wich will stop the map sensor from reading above atmospheric pressure. Also, i was going to run a razorback ecu. any thoughts? also wonderin where to put the brake booster vaccum line. can't put it on the intake manifold as there isnt vacuum there but boost. can't think of where to put it?

alright, i recently rebuilt my 3k. Did the whole lot the head, the rings, big ends and all the seals. The thing is every time i start it after it's been sitting for a while it blows a little bit of smoke, but it didn't do it straight away. The car has done about 800km's since the rebuild and can't think of anything. I forgot the colour of the smoke will update tomorrow but just wanted to see what people might think it is, a guy at work said it could be the valve guides, but that kinda means that the place that rebuilt the head didn't do them...please help....oh and i don't think it matters but i'm running this thicker oil stuff 25-50w i think

hi all. i currently have a 5k with ported head and a mild cam with a 4k efi setup. and its using a fair amount of fuel and wont idle below 2000 rpm. i have been told by a mechanic that it could be the injectors causing the fuel economy problem and i have also been told by an auto elec that its could be the ecu. as far as i know (from talking to the previous owner) its running stock injectors and stock ecu, and was imported. Previous owner never had a problem with fuel economy, but the car sat for a couple years before i bought it. research tells me that the injectors and ecu are a must upgrade parts. my questions to you are: does running stock ecu and inject…

hey all I'm having trouble with my ignition i started the car once and left if to warm up came back to find it had stalled went to start it again and ran for a tiny bit but assoon as i let go of the key it cut out. it done this several times i just thought bugger the fuels gone. tryed again once i got it to flat ground done the same thing then i noticed that if i turn it over and then hold the key half way between ON and START just anuf for the starter to cut out that it would run fine but once i let go of the key it cuts out!! :D help would be much appreciated cheers scott.

Hi, I have been looking through the knowledgebase/faq section and I thought I had found exacly what I needed, the KE70 chassis electrical system link, but it is broken and seems it has been for a while. I have just done the 4age into ke70 and it is running an EMS computer and wiring. the car starts and was run up on a dyno, I can't figure out the very last piece of wiring, the car starts by a switch but now I just need to wire it into the car, which will allow the ignition from the key and front and back lights to work etc. Does anyone have the pdf file missing from the faq they can email me or does anyone want to help me out finishing the wiring for so…

Hi all, i have a bit of a problem. Some fool at the engine shop decided to machine the wrong crank for my new engine as i took 2 in with oil pumps still attached as the damn timing gear didnt want to budge from either and they screwed it up and machined the 4age one. Which i found out after rebuilding, attaching everything, new turbo manifold the lot and then came the harmonic ballancer. Well it has a different Keyway doesnt it. which wont be such a problem as i can get my hands on a 4age 1 i gave my mate. but as its going to be turbo a forged crank would be best. which brings me to my question. Is there any difference between 4AGZE and the 100kw 4AGE cranks? though…
