That is brilliant, finally a corolla with some real structural rigidity. its so tight to the body. It must be good not having to worry about rego hassels :)

^^^^ you're exactly right. Its better to eliminate that potential problem, rather than save $30 on cable. I know of a few V8s that would not even start until the earth cable was run the length of the car. the earth is as important to your elctrical systems performance as the active is.

^^^^ I'm hoping for something similar, if traction permits. the best i can claim at present is a 13.7@105mph with a bent conrod at half track :) havnt been back with the ke30 for over a year which is pretty sad.

Ive always run mine under the diff, about 130mm clearance from the ground, and keeps my engineer happy as well.

been pretty busy lately, did a track day on my bike at qld raceway, and been to see a few bands and stuff, not to mention the weather has been pretty crap again, so the progress is limited...... Pulled my doors off and booked them in to get soda blasted, two week wait apparently :hmm: Spent a fair bit of time getting my gaurds up to scratch, got them nice and straight again, but then decided i still don't like them, so i went and got a couple of new ones. Went to the wreckers last week and found this Its the fuel filler from a 1989 mazda 626, it will soon find a new home under the rear numberplate of my rola, as the old position never got proper drainage put in :) and is looking pretty bad. Also went and got some dry ice and spent all tuesday arvo, and half the night chipping the tar sheeting of the floor on the inside, it was starting to become an issue, with a bit of surface rust appearing in some spots. In total the tar weighed 5kgs on the scales Have also nearly finished straightening the drivers side rear quarter panel, Its taken 2 weeks, but its almost perfect now :D Did i mention i hate panel work! i can't wait to get back to the mechanicals! :hmm:

^^^ If you remove the distributor and go four coils, you need to pick up a crank-angle sensor from somewhere, this would usually go where the dizzy was, but there would other ways I'm sure.

I'm pretty sure i looked at that, and they were a bit too wide, but correct hight, you should check anyway cos my memory sucks. Another one to try is, i know you can buy ones to suit datto 1600 with sr20, i think they were about 400 bux, but i never checked if they would suit the rola though.

^^^^what he said. The compressor sizing is correct on the rb20 T3 but the rear housing is too large, you would be waiting a long time for boost. Also they are ceramic turbine which limits your boost The gtr t28 has a .48 rear housing from memory, which is a good size, the t28 compressor would be quite a high flow on the little 3k, which would be suited for the 'built' type motor, would be a bit laggy, but worth it when it all happened. wouldnt put one on a stock motor. (don't get gtr confused with gtir, or you will never get boost) The build your own vortech idea is not so silly, i have seen one done in a magazine, and it worked real well, can't remember what donated the gearbox though..

Man that is a real overrated 25 you've got there, if youre real worried about the surface rust on struts and crossmember its pretty easy to drop it down and give it some paint. for those couple of Q's You can degrease youre steering box, the top bit is shiny alloy :dance: You should use a bit of etch on the bare metal patches, the acylic stuff is pretty thin and see through, so just brush some on if you like. To get the broken studs out drill through the remaining bit with a drill just small enough to not take the threads off, and use 'easy outs', or just pick the remainder out of the threads if you get it good enough. :hmm:

Very nice car man, love the work done to the motor, thats a large duration cam, would sound pretty lumpy even with the webbers me thinks. :nervous: Nice work on the ta22 lights too, i thought about it many times as i have a set sitting here, will be good to see the end result. |blink|

I think both motors have their advantages. If you are chasing 500+ rwhp the FJ wins regardless. sr20 has much more cheap parts available, better head flow from factory, alloy block- 25kg bare (should be lighter than fj) Better factory balance. FJ20 has very strong block, much better valve actuation design, stronger rods and pistons from factory, best for crazy horsepower.

while on the subject, what is done about the gearbox when upright mounting, it would lay over a heap?? I was going to do it to the 25 for kicks, but the gearbox issue changed my mind :D

I think it looks real cool, they are bordering on too new, but after seeing radrollaz and a few others i recon it works a treat. I think a corona would be happy to donate its rims to the hubcaps

I agree that you should leave the paint for now, there is something to be said for being able to thrash the crap out of your car without worrying about the 'shiny' aspects. As for the computer/ diff and all that, it depends what the car is for, drag, track, road? only you know that.

Personally a big fan of JBL, their 8 inch speakers, amps, ect. are unbeatable, or on a budget JVC seems to be real good value for money. I avoid sony and pioneer, in the average level range they seem to suck. Sounds like your old man knows what he,s doing. Make sure you run everything off an amp, or all those good quality speakers go to waste.
