  1. was just wondering about something posted in a thread: "15x7 with offset between 0 to +10 is spot on for KE's". I'm looking to upgrade wheels on my ke30, currently have some Tarago steel wheels 14x5.5 +30 (measured offset myself so hopefully its accurate) on stock standard (AFAIK) suspension, and the outer edge of the front rims is about 20mm in from the guard (rears have plenty of space). According to this willtheyfit.com link, 14x7 +0 will stick out and extra 2 inches, which makes it seem that they will not fit well. Do you need to flair/roll the guards to fit this size rim, or have i missed something in my calculations? I have also measured the stock ke30 wheel offset/size at 13x4 +40 meaning that 14x7 +0 would stick out an extra 78.1mm - does this sound right? any insight is much appreciated.

  3. I am currently undergoing a 4age conversion into a ke30. Today I picked up a T50 gearbox to go with a (I believe it’s a blue top) bigport RWD 4AGE. I need some advice on oil lines and vacuum lines, etc. The engine mounts arrived the other day but they are obstructed by the oil line in the picture. Has anyone else had this problem? The engine mounts were made for a 4age but I guess not all 4age engines have this setup. If I can’t find a better solution I will need to take the mounts to a fabricator and get them modified. http://postimg.org/image/sqnyvj55z/ http://postimg.org/image/e7rkzknrd/ Also I’m not sure where these vacuum lines coming off the front of the tvis intake should lead to.   4. I thought it was about time I posted SOMETHING about my cars on here. I have a 1977 4 door KE30, a 1974 (?) 2 door KE30, and another 4 door KE30 for parts, I think from memory it's a '77, plus I have a stock pile of 4k engine parts and interior parts which I will be putting on here after I have what I need for my builds. The original plan was for the yellow 4 door to be my project car as I had one years ago with a 2TG conversion which I stupidly sold, and needed something to fill my void! But came across the 2 door and the white 4 door plus all parts. I will post some pictures (by some I mean lots) and write my plans along the way. This will eventually be a build thread when I have the time/funds to commit and knuckle down with my projects, but until then just showing what I have got. The white KE30's drive line will be transplanted into my 2 door, after i source carbi's/rebuild kit etc (manifold is on it's way). It's a 2TGEU but I'm going to stick with the carb as it's as far as my mechanical ability allows! This is the first car the day I picked it up around 2 and a half years ago. It had run out of rego a few days before I bought it. It looked pretty straight. This is how she stands today. I have only recently began stripping bits and bobs for a respray. Again, time is limited along with money! The plan with this 4 door is to do it cheap enough for a roady and use it as a daily to get rid of my fuel loving VY SS Commonwhore. Currently trying to work out the ignition issue where it will run but only when you hold the key between on and start. I have 3 different ignition switches I have tried and 2 different barrels. Surely they're not all bad? Seats if anyone is interested? Very rough I picked up the following: Too many parts This is what I wanted it for! Can do my 2 door conversion 4k if anyone wants it, comes with the box. Could be a 3k I'm unsure. And that's that. I have interior and engine parts coming out the ears.. will keep the thread posted when I manage to get any progress... The 2TG out of my first corolla which was a 1979 KE55
  5. I'm in the process of rewiring my KE30, just the motor currently: anyway I was in a rush and had the rookie mistake of pulling everything out at once... Then went to uni. Consequently I forgot where everything goes. I just need a simple diagram for Starter Alternator Distributor (And how they connect to key/battery/relays etc) Also want to know wire sizes, and voltages for it all.
  6. Hi guys and gals, I would like to introduce you to Betsy, a 1975 KE30 4 door with no working engine. I purchased her on the 15.08.13. She looked rather straight and upon inspection I could not find any significant rust spots so I organised for the sellers dad (a tow truck driver) to drop her off at my door and handed over the money. I will be updating this post as often as I can, but unfortunately I have a new house and a lot of other jobs to deal with so just gotta remember "SLOW AND STEADY WINS THE RACE" (but I just want her done NOW). The plans are to strip her down repair any rust found, paint, full interior, and then drop a SR20DET into her with a R31 cut down diff (Borg Warner 4.11 with 28' spline) and a few other bits and pieces as you will see. Aiming for around 200-220kwatw but we will see how we go. Power delivery is my main goal, as to make it as smooth and efficient as possible, so I will most likely put more work into the suspension set up than the engine at the start. Anyway just wanted to introduce Betsy to you and keep posted for updates. Cheers Robski
  7. Hey everyone, just wanna share some pics of my rolla from when I got it, to how it is now. Picked it up as a rolling shell for a pretty penny with intentions to slowly make it nice. How it looked when I saw it for the first time in the person I bought it off's backyard Interior looked nice and neat- no cracks in the dash or rips in the seats, all nice and original This is the day I picked it up Having no motor in it made it a bit easier to take off the trailer on my own!
  8. Introducing my latest Corolla This thing popped up on Gumtree one day so I had to go and look. Rest is history. Specs are as follows: KE30 Sedan 4AGZE from an AE92 T50 Welded Borgy Diff Cressida Front Struts and Brakes Stripped Interior, with some switchgear, push button start and gauges Ebay special fixed back seat Velo Harness 15 x 6 Poobird wheels with Achilles 123 semis Couple of pics from before track day Had my first track day at Mallala Friday 16th August. A week before I decided to dust off the cobwebs, check over the car, pump up the tyres and fill with fresh fuel. Car won’t start. Try all sorts of things, find faulty earth, fix that and car runs. Next day go out there – car won’t start. Call Mobile Auto Elec – car starts. Still not running well but not waiting another 3 months for the next Friday prac day. This is how my day went - Car gets towed to Mallala - Car won't start - miss first session - Car starts during first session, but runs like crap. Still have ignition issue - Car runs ok, take it out for second session, get one lap and its misfiring like crazy - Stuff around with ignitor again, take it out down side road and thrash the living daylights out of it, no misfiring so we are back on. - Had another four sessions out on track having loads of fun :) Car still has a misfire issue, took the ignitor apart at home and it was full of metal shavings, I guess from when they drilled for the bracket to ground it. I think this was the reason for sale. Regardless I now have a new ignitor and it runs perfectly. Shame it had to sour my first day out a bit. Plans are: Fit wider wheels to get some more grip - have purchased Superlites in 15 x 8 Fix up niggling little issues with the car Prepare for next track day Have lots of fun without spending much - yeah right
  9. Ok first up, straight away, I know you forums have a search function and google works well AND people have done it in their build. I HAVE SEARCHED FOR THE LAST 4 HOURS. All I have come up with is a lot of conflicting and not very helpful info. I'm about to buy a ke30 auto (definately!). Now It has a later 3 speed which seems to be the problematic one. I have both ke55 5 speed and 4 speed but that's irrelevant. Now I know you have to cut the tunnel for the selector. Or you get a ke70 5 speed. What I want to know it what is what is the go with the xmember?? If I use the k40/50 what do I need to do? (Xmember wise) If I use a ke70 5apeed what do I need to do? Every thing is vague and only says weld it ora don't use this one or that one. I wouldn't post here if I could find it else where so any help for a struggling brother would be great! Or at least a link to somewhere that clearly points out what can't go with what and what works. I could wing it but I want to know what I'm in for... Thanks
  10. Hey Guys, I want to make this thread to talk about 4K builds! Everyone post your *K motors and what you have running & even post ideas, people want to know what the K motors love! Even I want to know.... personally i don't know much about carb motors nor the K series motor, so if you guys were to explain how you think to make Hp 4k's What I would think you would do is simple. Port & polish the head Aggressive cam profile 7k crank bore out to fit 5k pistons have a fiddle with the carburetor (Fatten up the mix) High flow extractors and exhaust Port intake What's your idea?   11. hey guys, just wanting a bit of advice, i have recently replaced my worn clutch plate, pressure plate and release bearing with an excedy clutch kit in my 4k corolla. i used a tool to get it centred right and did everything by instructions in the workshop manual. the clutch cable seems to have way too much slack in it and when i push my foot on the clutch it makes a whinning noise.. can anyone give me some help on what i may have done wrong?! thanks
  12. Hi all I've got an electrical problem with my ke35 and i am in no way qualified to be able to fix it. Here's a quick run down of the car and a list of things that is happening. The car has worked 4k (Oversized pistons, Chrome Molly rings, Big end, main,and cam bearings replaced, Reground cam and cam followers, New valves and seats, Double valve springs, Not sure of comp ratio, 200psi per cylinder, Twin DCOE40 webers, 4-1 extractors, New timing chain when rebuilt, Distributer recalibrated). Also running a davies craig electric water pump and fan. When the car is on... Hazard stalk up = all indicators solid light Hazard stalk down = nothing Indicators on = nothing Headlights = blows tail fuse straight away All other electrics work fine (wipers, brake lights, heater, interior light etc..) I have just replaced the indicator/wiper cluster with this http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Column-Indicator-Wiper-Switch-Toyota-Corolla-KE30-KE55-Turn-Signal-Blinker-Stalk-/400473613862?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5d3e166626&_uhb=1 as the original one started smoking when the headlights were on. Could this be a ground problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Help fixing it would be even better!!!!!! (i'm in north melbourne)
  13. This is my ke30 project/daily i bought a few months ago. I'm hoping that this build will span over the remainder of my apprenticeship to keep me out of trouble. She wasn't in the best shape, engine was dying, diff was stuffed, so on and so forth. My plan is to fix her up and make her look good. Not to fussed about going fast.. I have already put a 4k head on, ke70 diff(due to the old diff seizing up after i welded it..), and 5" lowering blocks(I think it is sitting a bit too low). What I want Worked 5k, 5 speed Box SR20DET SR or RB box rust cut out, dents knocked out, especially the big ass ding on the roof fresh paint super lightss? r33 brakes? because they are big..? re-upolstured seats, reupholstered door cards, hood lining etc. fuel cell tank, braided lines some tough rear end

  15. Gents, I'm sure this is a story a lot of you can relate to... I was disassembling the 16v 4age I'm putting into my ke38 wagon. After taking the pistons, rods and bearings out, I put them into seperate bags and lined them up in order. Here's where it gets crazy... I was propositioned into a three way by 2 swedish ladies who came walking through the front gate. In the throws of passion, the bags containing said engine components got moved before I had a chance to mark the bags with their respective order numbers! CHAOS! Now, having finished the marathon session with my new foreign lovers, I'm back to working on the 4a. I've attached photos of the markings on the bearing end caps. As far as I can tell, three pistons are identical and one is different. Three of the pistons have a '2' on the side of the bearing end cap and a '1' on the bottom. The other one has a '1' on the side and a '3' on the bottom. Can anyone help with this conundrum?

  17. Looking for some advice on a 4k that seems to be leaking coolant from a plate on the rear of the engine, facing the firewall (see photo attached). The car overheated about a month ago, which is likely the cause of the leak. Has anyone had this issue before, or can give me some suggestions on what i need to replace? Any suggestions would be be greatly appreciated, thanks for you time.
  18. Hey Guys, This is our first project car, a 1977 KE30. Bonestock and bought for a $1000 off the worlds dodgest bloke, dispite this the car was in suprisingly good shape. All the electricals were is working order, the car starts everytime without fault, the only problems were small patches of rust on top of the boot and the weld seems of the roof. But still it ran like a dream.
  19. Hello All, big time fan, big time lurker, first time Rollaclub post... I'm planning a build for a 1uzfe KE30/TE31 resto-mod project, and wondering what kind of possibilities I would have for IRS, but the Mx-5 subframes seem awfully promising. There are a slew of v8 miatas in america, including a few 1uzfe ones, so there is a TON of info on reinforcing the chassis/upgradedsuspension options. This will be my first build ever, and plan to tackle most of it myself. Anyways, I'm still open to leaf spring options, but no matter what, i will be spending an awful lot of time on the car, and going all out means just what is best for it, so I just want to know if an MX-5 subframes work. I've never seen a pre-1980 irs Corolla, I've spent months on this website among other ones from NZ and USA. So let me know whats up guys! Thanks for listening/reading Lucio

Hey Guys, My GF's car has a nice little warm 3k in it, with a 3kb Head, a lumpy cam, and some commodore valve springs etc. I've got a set of the OE Twin Aisian (spelling) to suit the 3kb inc a manifold... which has had the water inlet/outlet damaged. Firstly i need to get the carby's re built, and i am looking for someone to help me either rebuild and tune them too. anyone's help here would be appreciated. I can do EFI... but carby's aren't my friends. Hit me up, if you can help. Andy.

Hi, i knows this question has been asked before but as I'm new to the roller scene and i really don't know what to do. i have looked at doing conversions from 4age, sr20, rb20 to rotors but I'm not sure were to start and the complexity of the conversion as its my first "do up" car. so I'm not sure if i should stick to the standard motor and turbo it or...? its allready got 32/32 carb and exhaust but not sure what else i can do to the standard motor.
