Starting to prep the engine bay today, and over the years of the cars life, has had alot of different things bolted in different spots that arnt needed now. Is it ok to use bog? There about 10mm holes? Or should i wait and weld them up?

Hi Everyone, First off, we are talking about the Borg-Warner diff. Sorry, this is a bit of an unwanted question, but I'm in a hurry to get my KE70 on the road again by tomorrow and need to know whether the left and right axles are the same length and are universal between left and right. Looking for a definite answer. Reason being is I have a spare axle (L or R I'm not sure) and would be easier to take it to the shop and get it pressed on, rather than taking out the car axle and using that. I won't have the time to get it all done if I take them all out and measure it up. Many thanks, Vince

Hi I'm Rod and I'm new to the forum. I have little mech knowledge but can swing a spray gun so if i can help anyone there so be it. Anyway heres the background i got a ae95 wagon but the engine has done the bottom end. Its got 370000 on the clock but it is still a great car. I bought another 4AFE but it turns out its a 4AFHE jap import engine and has a few differences to the local engine. The main one is there is no PCV outlet from the block into the manifold. So heres where my questions begin. The PCV purges gasses from the crankcase into the intake manifold depending on throttle speed the more throttle the more the valve opens? There is another valve that looks s…

Hey guys, Was hoping you could help me out with tyre choice. I am still a little unsure what I should be getting as I haven't had much experince, if any, with 13" tyres. Rim for tyres is a 13" x 6.5", and the vechile looks to be a Daihatsu Mira. Options: 1) Khumo 155/65 at $100 2) Hanhook 155/65 at $130 2) Yokohama from England (road grip kind of tyre) 175/50 at $150ish 3) Yokohama A008 semi slicks at just a little over $200 in 175/50 I have looked into 155/60 from Japan and it is just going to be a very expensive excersise from what I have been told. I have also been told that a 175/50 will give me roughly the same rolling diameter i…

I already have ADM ae86 brakes and struts. Now, I would like to buy some JDM brakes and rotors. How do I go about buying them? Do I just need the Callipers and buy new rotors? And, do they just bolt on to the normal ADM struts?

I have recently sold my twin turbo wags and I'm really going to miss it... I've noticed that my early ke30 has this plate underneath the inner rear corner of the drivers seat (the passenger seat has it too) F - is facing to the front A - is a nut thats welded or something to the plate. Bit like a forgotten after thought cause the nut is tapped but there's no hole through the metal for a bolt to go through. The seat belts (the clasp end) in my '30 are bolted to the seat itself, i know the later '30's and '55's are bolted to the floor behind the seats. Is this the spot where they bolt to ? The dimple thing is where the inner rear corner of the seat bolts into. Pardon the dodgy letters in the picture but my ever so friendly "borrowers" …

I'm after some suggestions as to the optimal settings for the wheel alignment. A brief history on the car: bought as a damaged vehicle through pickles auctions, control arms mashed up, some front end damage, bent chassis. The chassis was straightened (paid someone to do it) the control arms have been replaced, some of the panel work done (new guard and some paint) and some basic work for a RWC. The engine has since been rebuilt, a piston was broken in two piece and it was making a rather odd noise The gearbox has also been rebuilt a few times (oil leaks, noisy bearings, crunchy synchros etc). The car has about 190,000km on it now. Anyway, recently I've …

Morning All Just need some help. I have a KE35 with a 4AGE 100KW, T50 gear box (bought it last year from Mikoolz, Sydney). I'm having troubles with the clutch. It has been converted to a hydraulic clutch and is relatively new, the old cable adjustment was just a clip on the cable at the firewall, but now I fear its a little more complex. I have had nearly no free travel at the top of the clutch now for a while and have been puting off fixing it, it has finally started to slip (only when accelerating hard when rolling) and I now have no free travel at all. I checked out the slave cylinder this morning and all seems good. My questions are: Does it sound like just a…

hi, the head gasket on my 4k has blown. iam looking to put extractors and maybe a better carbie on. i would just like to know what would be a better choice. 1. replace the gasket on the current motor or 2. look for another better 4k motor altogether, that may be a better base for modifying. does anyone have any ideas cheers ROSSOTOON

I'm curious, would the 2.7lt hilux motor I think it's a 2tfe fit in a ke. We have a work mate as a company car where I work and it seems to go pretty good, and takes some pounding from some of the boys at work lol. I think it would be a sweet motor but unsure if there would be any problems fitting it. Has anyone tried to put one in a roller or would it be too costly and too unknown as aposed to a 4age that has been done many times. Just a thought,

hi all, So I have had the most annoying noise coming from my car latly, originally thought it was the water pump bearing but I was wrong. I am getting some sort of negative pressure in my pcv system, i think it's negative is negative normal? Anyway I pull the dipstick while the car is running and whooosshhh, it sucks air from the dipstick and the sound goes away. So i gather the sound is from air being sucked in through seals. I have a smallport 4age with a cut n shut inlet and this could be where the problem lies, but I've been using the car for a year and a half till now and now the sound starts. Bigger issue now, So I figure if its sucking air from the…

Hey guys... I'm new to this... I'm looking for ae86 suspension and brakes for my ke70 wagon... What bits do i need to do the upgrade? am i looking for the whole steering setup or just struts and lower control arms? could someone please give me a list of what parts i will be needing to put these in my corolla.. Camber tops? can i add these straight on to the top of the ae86 struts or is there other modifying needed? For brakes I'm planning on using the hubs and brakes off the front ae86 struts, and for the back i will be looking at converting to a hilux diff and redoing the stud pattern to 4x114.3... I will realize i will have to upgrade the master cyli…

Hi Everyone, I know it's not a Corolla but... I have a 1975 (Series 1) Toyota Corona RT104. It has a T292 diff as per Norbie's Diff/Axel database on Toymods and it also physically has 10 bolts on the housing. Refer to this link for all cars with the T-series diff: http://akb.norbie.net/Public/AxleList.aspx?SeriesCode=T My question is: Will the Zenki T-Series LSD Centre for the AE86 Sprinter (T282) fit in my Diff (T292). The RA23, RA28, RA40, TA22, TA23 and the MA45 all have the same T292 diff as my Corona. The only difference is that mine is leaf suspension. Has anyone put an LSD centre into one of the above vehicles (T292 Diff)? Also the TE71/TE72…

Hey everyone, today I installed a central locking system in my KE70. It worked fine and everything, but later on I tried to start the car and it wouldn't go. The 4K starts but dies very quickly after the starter motor stops turning it over, it won't rev or anything. I suspect I've blown a fuse somewhere but I checked all the fuses I know of ( next to battery, next to steering wheel under dash) and they all appeared fine. The way I wired the central locking system up was just constant power from battery to sensor unit, then earthed into a bolt under the dash. I know I probably sound like a total n00b but I really can't figure out why it won't go. Does anyone know what I've…

I want to fit Air conditioning into my 1994 Corolla Seca AE101. It has the 4age 20 valve silvertop engine in it at the moment and the air compressor is ALREADY attached but it requires everything else as it didn't come standard with AC. 1. Does anyone know what AC kits from what model corollas would fit to the compressor already attached to the silvertop engine? Are they interchangeable? 2. Can you recommend a wrecker for me to call that might have this part or deals with corollas? 3. Would it be hard to fit myself? The compressor is already attached to the engine so I imagine the dashboard needs removal to install the buttons/interface and the radiator would…

G'day all I've seen it done with ke20 and 25 diff's where people use ke30 axles and brakes and shorten the ends to fit them into a ke2X diff. Will this work for a ke10? I want my ke10 diff a little stronger than it is now just to hold out until i get an r31 or the like diff shortened. Would the ke30 axles and centre in the ke10 be any stronger than factory? And more to the point, will they fit? Cheers - Jono
