I thought it might be a good idea to get peoples opinions on the brake pads theyre using. Of course you alone can't try every brake pad on the market and find the best one so I thought it might be a good idea to gather some info on different types. Now naturally not everyones braking setup is the same so this will end up being a rough guide at best. Try to only comment on cars that youve tried more than one type of pad on. Start your review with a short summary, you can write more about them underneath if you so desire. I will try to keep a summary of good :P and bad :( reviews (and inbetween). Try to keep it performance oriented but you can of course make comments ab…

Rust, the favourite find of the auto enthusiast :P just doing the chassis of my ke25 and i have found some here and there much to my amusement lol... anyway any diy/mechanical person probably has come across their fair share of it and I'm interested to know how people get rid of it. depending how severe it is, seems rust can be sanded, chemical converted, blasted, ground down to bare metal, needle scalled, chemically removed, electro bath removal, cut out and rewelded. if it can't be cut out and rewelded such as a component or area that would be difficult to replace, and isnt very severe, then what does everyone recommend out of the other met…

Hi everyone I'm having an interesting issue with a ke70 i purchased for my girlfriend. under load (i.e only driving up the mountain where i live) the car will loose all power and the car will begin to make a lagre hissing noise (almost like large air compressor cannot pinpoint if this is coming out the exhaust or the engine bay). The car will also heat up slightly but stays within the "normal" range on the guage. on pulling over the car will run very slightly rough but then correct itself within 20 seconds or so. after losing power and reaching the top the car will drive normally and wont do it again until under a consistant high load. the problem has …

well as the topic says, the plug in my borg-warner diff won't undo ... it just spins and spins and spins and spins, and spins some more. In either direction ... so at the moment the plug is half-tight, constantly. Which means it leaks slowly, and makes it hard if i wanna put any oil into it (running a bit low i think) ... What the hell? Is this common? Tried searchin but didn't find shizzle... Dyzza

hey guys I did a search trying to find standard compression rates for a 4k (in PSI) but had no luck ... i did a test on my 4k - 125 was about average, highest 127 lowest 121. Is this low? I noticed someone on here had a 5K with 10.1 compression and managed 225 average ... :P Cheers, Dyzza

Got these Aisan Iso SU carbs. The guy that I got it off said they 1.5" SU's from a Datsun, but when I rubbed a bit of grease off they were Aisan instead of Hitachi's. I think they might be off a sports version of a corona, 1600S or mk2 or something. The code on them is HF40D. The bolt pattern per carb to the manifold is triangular (3 bolts, 2 upper 1 lower) The manifold looks like it is heated one. Maybe the SUs were taken off a corona and put in a Datsun. I've search the net and looked in books in the library but can't really find much about them. Does anyone one know what these came out of, and what they are like? Bruce

Now my question is where might i find a hole for the t peice? Apparerntly the instruction tell me to braze it into the sump of all things! but how the heck will that meter my pressure? I'm thinking i have to tread the sandwhich plate that all aw11 mr2's have. correct? If so will i need to mount a drain pipe out of it or what? And yair this i my first attemt at sorting out the plroblem that is wires. Seems like electrical guages really arnt elecky after all :) did that make sense?

I thought it might be an interesting topic to see what peoples variations on running in engines are. The method I'm using at the moment is as follows: Penrite Running in oil (because I KNOW its a full mineral oil, suitable for turbos. Other oils tend not to advertise the fact because "synthetic is better" or some crap) Oil filter change at 100km Oil and Filter change at 500km (mineral oil again) Oil and filter change at 1000km (I'm going to use Penrite Semi-syn 10W50 I think) I drive it firm, not flogging it and keeping the RPM down (below 5000rpm and not long periods at high RPM). I try to avoid long periods of idling and cruising at a constant RPM and loa…

hey guys ... well the dream run on the stock carby is over ... the float is getting stuck at the top (i think) so the carby is flooding ... Any possible reason for this ? i have pulled the needle and seat out and cleaned them up, they look in immaculate condition... Where the fuel line plugs onto the carby, just inside the 'tube' where it bends down at a 45 degree angle, there is a sort of 'filter' i guess you'd call it ... well this one was stuffed and wouldn't let any fuel into the motor when i first put the carby on, so i took it out ... Hey All My girlfriend has a 91 Suzuki Swift sedan. It is carby-fed and has flat spots in the carby. It likes to hesitate on takeoff. I have spoken to a mechanic and he suggests that it needs a carby kit. I have no knowledge or want to rebuild it, and i was wondering if any of you guys had any suggestions on what i should do? Perhaps a place to go who will sort out the carby? On the northside? Obviously price is the bottom line, i'd like to keep it as cheap as possible. Cheers for your help fellas.

TRD k cranks were romured to be fully counter balanced, but i've never seen one. the conrods are 7afe and with a pressed 20mm pin. the oil pump pick up is steel,(good uprite engines where you have to change the pick up) the combustion chamber has been opened up and the ports have a better shape. the sump is deeper, but not by much. i'll post more as i find it.

  36. hey guys well i have sorted out a major air leak, so that problem should be all gone now ... The new problem - the car free revs - even with the idle screw set at the lowest, it revs at over 3,000RPM. This is with the mixture screw set about 1 1/2 turns out. This is with the throttle gear returning to the closed position (e.g. the throttle cable isn't tight and holding the throttle open. ..) The jets in it are 130 primary, and 132 secondary. It is an automatic choke model, but the choke valve is all the way open so should have no affect ... The motor is a 4k .... ARG!
