hey guys, well last night while i was out partying in the dark dad decided to go get some maccas, goin there the road under the bridge was flooded, but this usually isnt very deep, so through he goes, and half way across he says it stopped. long story short i asked him how high the water was and he says, ooh lapping up around the bonnet...."did you think of that cold air intake dad?" :) so this mornin he went down took the plugs out and turned her over pissing water all out of it, but she still wont start were assuming its left over water in the cylinders and intake wetting the spark so she wont start.... how do we fix this problem? how do we get her started again? …

Sort of flowing on from "The Beast" thread.. How to the Australian clones of Japanese cars compare? eg. The Ford Laser/ Mazda 323. Mechanically? Cosmetic things like panels and interior bits? I'm just keeping an eye for prospective replacements for wagonodeath, and I was wondering if I should consider the local copies as well as the Japanses originals. (mods feel free to move to off topic)

OK so I've had a problem for a while that my battery runs flat really easily. I was listening to my stereo for like 20 minutes when I waxed my car thisarv, so when I go to start her up she's flat as a tack........ no worries, got a jump start, headed off. Ran alright for a while but then the lights started going dim. So I pull into a side street and let it idle for 10 minutes or so.... pull off and the problem is still just as bad, and after a minute I couldn't even rev the engine without the lights off!! Ran without lights on, trying to get home, but then she won't even run with the lights off entirely and I broke down and had to call mum for a jumpstart again. …

Hey guys, I recently checked my 3K for oil and found no oil cap I don't know how long it has not had one, is this a big issue? Not that much oil has came out of it. Also the stupid oil caps are only push down, hence why it probably came off, I was just wondering can you buy the Toyota oil caps anymore? Or do I have to get aftermarket? Brad

Seeing as i just got new Rims what suspension do you guys suggest. I have heard mixeds rumours about monroe and king springs Do pedders make stuff for ke70's and if so how much are we talking. Pricing on this does not matter if you are going to do something you might as well do it properly. So any advice would be grealty appreciated. :hammer:

heres food for thought... Pushrod motors - grind cam = opens valves longer (in VERY basic terms) *OHC motors, where cam runs onto shims = Add meat to cam lobes to open valves longer. So, question is, IF you were able to work out what sizes were appropriate.. of you wanted a budget, and cheap ass way of getting more duration outa your motor, instead of getting new cams, would it be possible to put larger shims in, to increase the time the valve is open? It wouldn't change the time that it comes in, but if you think about it, because the shim has moved up point piss all of a thou, it would result in the valve opening slightly before, and close slightly after = m…

well the other day i just found out that the linkage between the throttle spring and the lever that pumps the fuel in is missing. so i figured at the moment it would be good for fuel economy but down on horses. at the moment it is just relying on vacum to suck the fuel through, which is why is i try and accelerate fast it tries to die on me and makes the big slurp sound. my question is, is there any disadvantages in the long run of leaving it as is for a while until i can find/make a replacement? please correct me on anything i havent got right. cheers tom

Hey guys I'm looking at a very cheap liteace van and was just wondering if anyone knew the years that the Liteace had the 5K motor in it? I've tried searching and google but haven't found anything. Any help would be appreciated. Also the car owner won't be able to tell me what engine it is until 3:30 today so it would be good to know if it could possibly have a 5k

hey everyone. ive recently been thinking about this, and to me it seems to defeat the purpose. see the way I'm looking at this is if we take a turbo'd engine. with a compression ratio of 8.5 the bottom end is gonna be rather gutless and only be any good once it comes onto boost. now the way i see it the lower compression ratio means slower acceleration until the turbo spools up and a longer time to spool up because the engine isnt pumping as much air and it will also mean that the turbo has to push more air to create the same pressure in the cylinder as it would with a higher comp. engine. so from this thinking to me it seems that to have a decompressed version of n/a …

I swear I have done this kind of thing before even though it doesn't seem like it. This car is kicking my a$$ everytime I get to the next level with it. The exhaust is done and all seems well with the quality. I go to start the car and I have no spark. It's got to be in the distributor/points/rotor/timing area I think. Here's what I have done: I have checked to see if there is a fuse that could be blown and cannot find one. There is 12v at the coil with the key on and 12v at the ignition lead going into the top of the distributor. I have checked and the timing appears to be right. I cannot find any wires that are cooked/loose. Again, this is a 3k…

Hello again. My 80 TE72 is being set-up for full road-racing. Unfortunately, where I live (Los Angeles), there is not much info about setting these cars up for the track. Are there folks out there who race these cars that can give me some assistance as to spring rates, damper setups, sway bars, camber, etc. for my car? It is only going to make about 130hp at the crank and weigh about 2300lbs. I have to use all of the stock mounting positions for the suspension components as well as the stock brakes (but pad and shoe material are free). Please let me know if you have some advice. Thanks again! Ryan

Hey everyone! This is my first post here. Glad I was able to find this site, as Corolla people can be hard to track down. Anyway, I am building an '80 Corolla SR-5 Coupe (US spec TE72) for road racing. The rules of my class state that I cannot change the rear differential housing, but that the internals of the diff are open and that I can run any gear ratio and LSD unit that will fit... without modifying the housing. In the US, the TE72 came only with the 6.38 8-bolt rear (so my research tells me). I know that TRD used to make an LSD for this rear, but they have been out of production for a long time now. Are there any other LSD's out there to fit my car? I saw so…

greetings rollings... well after being sick of the constant humming noise coming from the rear end of my little yella beast, i got new wheel bearings put in it. its now a quiet little car at 100 clicks. its got a pea shooter exhaust on it, so the only noise is the sucking of the weber and humming of extractors from the engine bay. its tops, you can actually talk to people at normal volume! I'm surprised how little road noise the little car has, i'm cheering... Anywhoo, thought i would share. Cheers, dyzza

Hey guys I own a 1984 corona and I was planing to sorta turn it into a rally car. The first step I was was going to get it higher off the ground. The logical thing in my eyes was to get suspension off a hilux ute or somthing similar but ive been told you can't fit it, since toyotas are rally bred and we all drive em I thought one of you nice people could tell me.

I took my KE15 to the muffler shop today and apparantly they are not able to/don't want to make an intermediate pipe for my car. I have the 3k installed and ready to go except for exhaust. I have emailed the guy that Mikey suggested here in the states in regards to the extractors that he had but have not heard back yet. I may need to swap the exhaust manifold from the k-c to the 3kc for the fact that the 3k currently has a dual port exhaust and the k is a small looking manifold with a single port which will be much easier to make a down pipe for. If I cannot find an extractor, is there going to be any major difference in the performance of the 3k with the k exhaust ma…

For every one who has tried these things are a biatch to get in. I found a rather easy way to replace them. So here it is. What you will need: Hammer Vice 1 1/2" metal tubing Something to brace middle of control Arm (will explain down the track) You're new Bushes Your old control arms The fist thing you will need to do is get the old ones out. This is done simply by leaving them out in the sun for about an hour so there hot to the touch. Then bash the crap out of the small end. You will notice that one is smaller. Now to get your new ones in. These are the items I used for mine. The metal tubing was my old exhaust I still had lying around; it is perfe…

hey guys I haven't posted much on here as of yet, uni is over so i'll be on here a fair bit. I've got a ke30 2door sedan, I'm getting pics up soon. I installed a tacho, and at a hundred clicks, the little 4k revs at approximately 3,500RPM. It has a 5 speed gearbox. Is this normal for a 5 speed 4K? I'm thinking its got a different diff in it ... In which case i will be replacing it soon. .. I did a search but couldn't find anything specific enough... Cheers guys, dyzza

I am definately Australian, and have been in and around cars my whole life, and not once ever have I heard anyone use the term "bunky". Shitter, stocker, daily, work hack, run-a-bout, but never bunky...Dit it occur to you guys that maybe it's not an Aussie thing at all, more a West Aussie thing? I wouldn't bother with the SC12, if you are going to all the trouble of supercharging it, use an SC14. It's not overkill on a 4K, I have used one many times on many standard 4K's. They are not going to be considered fast, compared to a fast car, but they will go about twice as hard as the 4K did on it's own, and also be great for burnouts, and hills. I currently have mine on a…
