OK time to show my ignorance for all things mechanical. I've got 3 holes that I don't know what to do with (keep it clean  ) I've attached the pics with arrows showing where they are. When you all have finished laughing at my total lack of knowledge and have composed yourselves please advise what to do with them or what to attach them to. Thanks Oh and its a 3k in a KE30 that still needs a lot of work

Does anyone know where to get K engine custom pulleys? I am retro fitting A/C to a 3K engine. A 4K pulley is significantly larger than the 3K so it would be over driving, thats the last thing I need.

anyone ever thougt about a pod air-filter onto a 4k-c? like it would need some sort of fabrication to the pipe that connect around the carby(cus of bonnet and it being down draught carby) then just run the pipe down near the ground or behind headlight to a fat pod and wallaa! what u think? Carl :D

Wandering around Wacol today, saw a car that looked a bit unusual. Looked under the bonnet, and hmm, strange! Couldn't recognise the engine, it was SOHC, with factory twin carbs (it even said "Dual Carburettor" or something on the rather strange looking airbox). Looked at the firewall, it said "3A-SU". Never seen one of these before... It looks like a Corolla GP or something. It's a hatch, but on the steering wheel it says "Tercel".

need a second run around car, and i won't something that will do skids and cost nothing... mates go his old corona with a 21R-C stock as a rock, and it pulls two wheeler skids(not locked diff O_o)... any way I'm think ill just get one of them as there cheap(500 with rego).. and i have a brand new(read still in plastic) webber carby sitting here i had for another project, that self detinated and now has a EFI engine.. number is 32/36 DGV 5A(it appears).. Any way is was thinking of chucking on that carby, a exhuast and extractors..and a bit of a improved cooling system with some new thermo fans. Anyone know what else is worth doing to these engines or whats easy to fin…

i'm putting a little clacky electric fuel pump in my ke25, i'm just trying to figure out a place to mount it. the instruction say something like "engine bay bad, next to tank good", so engine bay is right out (but the stock pump is there?) so far i've found out that i should mount the plastic pump to the body with rubber mount points (stewart just cut up some old radiator hose) and i should give it some air space to aid in cooling i could mount it in the boot, next to the tank on the wheel arch or the parcel shelf support or behind the back seat, however this would be loud in the car, and i'd have to cut the factory aluminium pickup hose which i'd rather not do …

Question about the K series timing chain. I stripped my newly acquired 5K down at the weekend. Got a Toyota 2K to 5K genuine engine manual yesterday off eBay which I will use to check all original measurements. Note that some in these threads are suggesting that the timing chain be changed to 2 row on 5Ks. I agree ! From my experience with chains in any application. They streeeetch over time. Question. Where do you get a double row timing chain & sprokets for the 5K ? Are they an aftermarket part ? I note, and old 3K I have here in the garage has a double row timing chain on it as standard. Do the 3K double chains & cam & crankshaft sp…

so my housemate has this ep82 starlet gt turbo............. in the year that he has had it, we have researched the use of a few different turbos and boost has been slowly wound up to a max of 20psi. now a few months ago we relised the bearings don't like that. so we track down the guy who built the donk up ( still a 4e) and we found out the engine in fact has ross forgies, and a few other goodies......... all to suit the f@$king standard bearings!!!! what an engine builder?!? back on topic.... so we took a few days to track down some more NDC brand bearings... they didn't make it through the day. so we found NDC pro series bearings, they also failed after a couple…

Hey people, put my rolla on ULP finally has done around 180k's on it so far but it has to go in to have the timing adjusted and have a tune! it lasted around 100k'm before any problems now it pings (rattles) under load! and takes a while to actually die when ignition is turned off (aparently called advanced ignition or timing or something), And it takes a little longer to turn over when starting but can't complain! Seem's to have more power now, although i have to fix the overheating problems! (will start with a new thermostat and go from there)

As some of you may already know, my T50 has shat itself (partly through some maltreatment). Now I'm trying to decide what to do. My options are: 1. Get a kit to replace the synchros. 2. Get a replacement T50. 3. Get a W-series transmission. My Corolla is for race use only, and currently has a 4AGZE, the only mods being extractors and programmable ECU. However, I will want to up the power significantly in the future. So can anyone give me some idea of the max power/torque they have put through a T50 over a long period of time without having it self-destruct. Is it worth me going to the trouble of installing something like a W58 (Supra transmission), or shoul…

On the topic, would this strut brace (which I realise has been sold) also suit a KE55? Or are the differences between KE55 and KE70 too great?

hey everybody. i would like more power in my KE70 and i would wish to make about 100kw. i don't plan to swap the engine to 4age or anything if it costs too much but i would be happy even if i get round the 80-90 kw mark also. what i need to know is, what are some easy, farly cheap modificatins that can be done, such as reground cam, porting or anything like that, to achieve my goal, or get me closer to it. any suggestions would be great! also what is an ideal exhaust system? atm I'm running a mild steel press bent (prob less than 2 inch) exhaust and it has a hotdog (performance cat) about half way, and then the normal muffler on the end. now i wouldnt mind having a cann…

Guys, I need help. The engine mounts on my KE55 are absolutely rooted. I checked with the bloke that built the car and he claimed the engine mounts were standard KE55 items, however, when I bought a set and compared them with what was left of what's in there, they were COMPLETELY different. What have you guys used in your 4AGE/4AGZE conversions. I presume that whatever is used in KE30's with this conversion will work for KE55's as well?

Well, today it was time to a) Spend some more money b) do something to the Ke20 c) continue down my path of being dodgie with a good outcome. So, we put all those together, and you come up "fixing the cracks in the ke20's dash!" Let the pictures do the talking. Oh btw, the stuff i used is 4x sticks of hot glue gun :P Enjoy!

i thought i'd start this because there are some differences in 5k & 4k blocks. the 5k has 2, the weak one has a welsh plug under the water pump and welsh plugs down the camshaft side of the block. only ever seen one. 4k's, there were 500 made that had no strenghtening around the welsh plugs on the maniflod side. i've struck 2 of these blocks in 15 years and both cracked through the plugs, one was in our rally car in NZ and the other was when i worked for an engine reconditioner here in brisbane, i told them about the problem, but they went ahead and reco'ed the engine, 2 weeks later back it came, you guessed it, cracked though the welsh plugs. anyone e…

Ive been locking around and every one has different options on what to use. I want to go for something big. (With in reason), but alot of people say stock (4ac) radiator are good and get them redone ?, other say aftermarket is the way to go :P I measured up a cressdia (7m) and it would fit snuggly into the bay, but how good are they? My mums BF's just had a hairline fracture.....

I recently bought whitey of grimwolge to doner a few parts to my KE55 and a mates KE70. Well what I was wondering was what cam people have had the most success with a 5K. I'lll be running a 32/36 weber and extractors to begin with, using a 4K head, ported by my mate (thanks Mick). I'll be upgrading to a single 45mm DCOE carb at some point too. Whitey has a massive 88 - 42 cam, I don't think the 5K would be too happy about that as a streeter ... or should I wait and see now nice it rumbles. I'll be running 202 Holden H/D valve springs, because these were inteded for a stage 3, 6 cyl cam, should I only use the outer spring? They are bloody hard eh. How much …

Before you go an embark on the mission to put an LSD into your old schoo Corolla, think about how much it will cost. I didn't, and now I'm regretting it. This LSD had better be God's gift to the world. Remember that on top of actually buying the LSD, you also need to get a diff to suit, brakes to suit, possibly (and probably) new bearings, oil, and all the other stuff that goes with getting a diff set up. My diff center ALONE, to date owes me just under $2500. That's with no oil. The actual LSD was only $1300. $700 for gears, and $450 for new bearings, and the labor to put it all together. On top of this there's wheel bearings, buying and setting up t…

Hi guys, I have an intersting Q for you , This sounds like something you wouldn't normally do but ..... is it possible to convert a manual KE55 to auto without too much trouble ?? Iv'e done this to heaps of cars just not a Toyota . I'm only doing this because I had a motorcyle accident last year and totally screwed one of my legs so manuals are out of the question . Thanks in advance for your help .

(Ae92) does any one have any pics of a Setup with the A/C and alternator on the right (exhaust side) of the motor. Ive been scouring the net finding only photos that show the top.... completly useless

hi guys & gals I've been searching the various forums to see if i can gain a little insight into an issue thats recently popped up in my t50. I have to travel to helensvale and back each day for work (100km round trip approx) and i've noticed that when i get off the highway I have problems selecting gears. Downshifts are an issue & even when I'm stationary any gear slection is hard. It doesn't crunch...it just does not want to go in gear. I have to pump the clutch a few times, blip the throttle and try selecting between 1st & 2nd before eventually it'll sink in Most of the info i've come across has been with cold start issues on the t50. Mine …

Just doing some research for my next drift beast project. It will involve the most insane 4A-GTE you will ever see :S (dead serious too) It will be a track only car so it won't be registered for road use (That will be for my MZ20 Soarer :wootjump: ) anyways I was wondering if it is possible to fit a 20v 4A-GE head onto a 4A-GZE bottom end? Thanks for your help. I will keep you guys posted as to the progress of this project. It probably won't be in action till the end of the year (well the engine bit, the car body modifying will be but) Thanks

Has anyone used a Prozone inline fuel modifier. If so, what results have you got from them. I've read the ProZone websites in the UK & OZ, and some of the testimonials are pretty impressive. I was talking to a guy the other day, who showed me one fitted to his early Falcon coupe. He has had it on for some time & was glowing it his praise of it. But then he worked for Repco, the Australian agent. The Prozones sold here in this part of the world are sold right here in Queensland. Would love to here others comments on this product. Here is the link for those that don't know of the product. ProZone Link ProZone Australia :S

I've heard that the intake manifold on the 4AGZE is absolutely crap (very restrictive), and that improving it helps unleash extra horsepower. Does anyone here have any experience with this? I was thinking along the lines of using a 20v head, thereby making my engine a 4AGZE 20v (as I believe has been done before), using the 20 valve motor's quad throttle bodies, and just having a plenum chamber manufactured to keep the boost in. Obviously, this will require some computer trickery to make sure everything works together properly, but I would think that it'd make some good power. It'd also make it better for future upgrades, as this is a race-only car, so it can be a …

is there any brake upgrade that is commonly done to ae86 struts? i ask because i have ae86 struts in my garage, and i want to upgrade the front brakes on my ke25. i don't want to make steering much worse, so i'd like to use ae86 power steer arms, which other struts do bolt to, but i have these struts now :D i've already looked around, and there's the usual toymods article on changing to cressida struts. and whilst the TTT 300mm brake kit would be nice, i don't want to spend us$1200. with the s13 brake upgrade, from what i've read you install the whole nissan strut including lower control arms and steering arms, yeah? probably would ruin the front track on a li…
