Hey, I've got a 4 door KE55 getting painted at the moment, it's pretty stock but i've just found a 2 door sedan with a 5K motor. the shell needs some work so i thought i'd chuck the 5K in the 4 Door for the time being. Anyway, my question is will a 4K head fit on a 5K bottom end or a 5K head on a 4K bottom end? or is there a way to make it fit, e.g. drilling out oil/water ports ect.? Might be a stupid idea but i thought the 4K head on the 5K bottom end would bump up the compression and go a bit harder and that putting the 5K head on the 4K bottom end would de-compress the motor ready for a turbo. Any advice will be appreciated. Cheers, Tom

I recently did and engine swap but the clutch arm was loose and could be moved in and out with very little pressure like the thrust bearing wasn't hitting the pressure plate or something. The clutch cable was moving but not putting any pressure on the arm either. I thought I must have put something back together wrong so I pulled out the gearbox. The car is a KE70 I recently swapped the 4K for the 5K. It's got the original K50, a new pressure and clutch plate, which seem to be a different design but the same measurements as the original. Also a new thrust bearing and a spare flywheel I had. The thrust bearing seems to be properly in place and being moved by the arm, th…

Yo diggity... I pulled the headers off my porsche motor and noticed white deposits in most of the exhuast ports. There was also some buildup on the back of the valves. Take a look at the pics. Anyone have any idea what this might be? I've never seen it before, but i assume it's something to do with lean burning, similar to tuning by sparkplug colour. Just to add to this, Porsches were fitted with smog pumps that pumped fresh air into the exhaust ports for emissions. Burns off any unburnt mixture. If you look you can see a shiny new hex head plug where I've blocked off these ports. I've only just fitted these plugs, prior to that, the actual brass piping was st…

Hello, i have a problem with my ke70... On some occassion's my car will start, but when i turn it off after a while it wont start. it either starts really well and quick or itll crank really slow until it just gives up and then it wont even try to crank. i just had a second hand starter motor installed that was in good condition, my alternator apparently could be better. I thought it was the alternator but i put a brand new battery in and still it didnt start even though it was fully charged. I changed the battery terminals and that didnt work either... needed to be done anyway. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks! :-)

Recently I bought a second hand Corolla car, after buying only noticed that the gap of the rear car boot is quite big. Have some difficulties in closing it down - need to apply some force to push it down. What can we tell from this finding? Is that a design defect/flaw or the car has encountered an accident before? How to check the originality of the car boot? Finally, can it be repaired? Thanks, Rollazer

So I was wondering is there any way to just replace a bearing or do I have to replace the whole pump, if I can just replace a bearing how much work is it, its a smallport 4age. thanks for the help

Hey guys, I am in need of some help... a few days ago the timing belt on my ae82 snapped and left me stranded in the middle of no where. When i got the car home me and a mate (who is a mechanic) pulled it apart and replaced the belt and timed it up and now we can't get it to start at all. We've triple checked the timing and that's right, we've triple checked the compression and that's good too as is spark and it's getting fuel all at the right time. What else could be the problem??? :abuse: We are both stumped as are the other two mechanics who have looked at it Any help would be GREATLY appreciated Cheers

I just brought an auto 18rc powered ra40, and it has a wicked miss fire on idle but it clears up after about 1500rpm, it's something to do with cylinder 3 because when you pull the lead off number 3 nothing changes. But theres a nice blue spark, it has brand a new looking dizzy cap, I've tried different leads and a different spark plug... but the miss fire is still there. What on earth is going on? Its shitting me up the wall. Cheers Corey

I'm curious, would the 2.7lt hilux motor I think it's a 2tfe fit in a ke. We have a work mate as a company car where I work and it seems to go pretty good, and takes some pounding from some of the boys at work lol. I think it would be a sweet motor but unsure if there would be any problems fitting it. Has anyone tried to put one in a roller or would it be too costly and too unknown as aposed to a 4age that has been done many times. Just a thought,

Hello, I have just fitted a 2nd hand Weber 32/36 dgav to my 4ac. I have a few troubles i'd like to pick peoples brains on!! The carb: "meant" to be freshly removed from a 4ac, so should be jetted correctly.... The problem is it idles at about 2000 rpm, idle screw turned off (not touching the throttle lever) idle mixture screw set at 2 turns out, ive tryed a 1 and 1/2 and less doesnt seem to make any differnce. I have checked for vacuum leaks with carb cleaner - no difference, saturated the carb and inlet manifold etc.. It also wont go to what - it just bogs down and then stalls.. I have adjusted the fast idle so it doesnt interact with carb, ( it was idling ev…

Hoping someone has a old Bilstein Catalog hanging around. Recent speedway junior sedan rule changes, now allow any type of shock as long as it fits and was designed for a passenger car. I have a pair of Bilstein p30 077 in the shed, I cannot find any info on these on the web, can someone please advise what they were designed for and are they a competition type shock ? Also as one of them is worn out where can I get them rebuilt in SE of Melb Thanks Andy

hi, the head gasket on my 4k has blown. iam looking to put extractors and maybe a better carbie on. i would just like to know what would be a better choice. 1. replace the gasket on the current motor or 2. look for another better 4k motor altogether, that may be a better base for modifying. does anyone have any ideas cheers ROSSOTOON

I was looking at info on pedders and found this thought it maybe of interests It was posted in 03 on toymods so things may have changed, I'm looking at getting shocks soon and found it interesting. Now I don't know what to believe. The big top secret Pedders does not want anybody to know is that their shock absorbers are made by Monroe. As we all know Monroe Shocks are way cheaper than Pedders brand shocks and are the same thing with red paint on them instead of Monroe blue!! Their front end parts are all made in Taiwan, in the cheapest factory Ron could find, re-boxed and re-badged with the Pedders logo on it and sold for top dollar their polyurethane bushes ar…

Morning All Just need some help. I have a KE35 with a 4AGE 100KW, T50 gear box (bought it last year from Mikoolz, Sydney). I'm having troubles with the clutch. It has been converted to a hydraulic clutch and is relatively new, the old cable adjustment was just a clip on the cable at the firewall, but now I fear its a little more complex. I have had nearly no free travel at the top of the clutch now for a while and have been puting off fixing it, it has finally started to slip (only when accelerating hard when rolling) and I now have no free travel at all. I checked out the slave cylinder this morning and all seems good. My questions are: Does it sound like just a…

so we don't clog up someone elses thread is this achievable, before you laugh have a think and come up with a thought on how to make this possible, My thoughts, TO4Z garrett mechanical fuel injection nitro methane for fuel 35% fuel to air mixture 18/1 compression ratio cams, valves, springs, ports, pistons, rods, crank, to allow for about 20000rpm i think you would need about 350kw flywheel to achieve this possible or not?

After seeing many unknown camshaft profiles for sale lately I have been pondering on how to actually measure the camshaft. So I decided to try to make up a contraption and see how I go. After finding bits and pieces around the workshop I slaped them together to make this: So I gave it a quick measure and came up with these interesting specs: Exhaust Spec Camshaft duration at .005" lift =220 degrees Total Lobe lift = .224" That duration just did not look right what so ever so I checked and double checked. Went on the net to see if I could find anything out and I came accross an article that stated that alot of companies over exagerate thier…
