Hey guys, I'm kinda new to the rolla scene but have always loved them. Anyway i am going to have a look at a ke70 on friday and was just wondering are there anythings that i should be looking for problem wise? He said he has just got the head rebuilt n a few other things... got reciepts for around 2500 for the work done ... also said it has minimal rust in the usual spots(which i don't know where they are n forgot to ask) any help would be appreciated.. I am trying to take out the rear seat in my 2-door KE20 but can't seem too get it out?......have removed the two lower bolts on the front of the seats but l can't see any more bolts to remove to get them out. Do l need to remove the parcel shelf to get to the other bolts or are there any special way to slide the seats out? Any help would be great, after removing the entire engine, and interior in half a day getting stopped by this is giving me the sh**s. Thanks for your help. p.s. checked int he boot too but there seems to be no bolts holding the seats in from there!

Hey guys.. In an effort to get the rolla back on the ground quicker I am going to use the std ke25 diff but converting it over to 114.3.. I have the jap type diff with the bolts on the front.. Now I have read that I need ke30 axels and braking assembly, but when I was at the corolla wreckers he told me there was 2 types of ke30 diffs.. the jap type and the borgwarner type.. Does anybody know if theres a difference between the two and which one I should be using for this conversion?? Or am I totally wrong and should I be chasing a ke55 rear axels and brake assembly?? Also while I'm here, roughly how much power would a std 25 diff cope with?? ill b…

Can anyone shed some light on my situation. I've got an AE112 corolla sportivo and i've just been told the bearings in the gearbox are shot. I think it's probably a lot cheaper to put a new gearbox on than repair this one. Can anyone confirm the gearbox from any 7A-FE will fit another, say from an AE96 or AE101. I can find a gearbox fairly cheaply from an older model corolla with the same engine, i just wanted to make sure the gearboxes are compatible. Cheers. Andrew

Had some mud fun on the weekend, and have no found that one strut in front of my 55 is sagging more then the other. Seems i blew a shock in one side. I have pulled the strut out and taken the spring off, and the gland nut off, drained all the oil from the shock. Just wondering how does the shock come out? should it just slide out? And also can i re oil the shocks ? how do i go about that and what oil? By looking at it, it seems to have 2 breather holes of which i put oil down the strut tube and when i pull the shock up it sucks all the oil in, do i repeat this till full? or 3/4 full? The gland nut seems to have a rubber seal which stops the oil leaking out.…

Hi folks, Long story short... I've punctured the sidewall of one of my tyres on the AE92 and need to buy a new one. I have moved the spare tyre to the front of the car. I would like to run the new tyre at the front. This is the tricky part... I want a new tyre with similar characteristics to the "ex-spare" tyre. I'm hoping that someone with more experienced than myself might be able to give me a suggestion in regards to what tyre I should purchase. :y: The "ex-spare" is a Bridgestone RE88. Specs: 185x60x14 I would get another RE88 but they are no longer manufactured, so... my thoughts are to go with a Bridgestone Turanza ER300. If you think you know of a bette…

Hi all, my mate and I got a corolla van turned into a ute to use for transporting things we needed for our bus. Now its time this might rolla was converted correctly. The car is strong and runs well but I want to make sure its all done correctly before I take it to an engineer for approval. Can anyone tell me what I should be looking at to make sure its safe? Does anyone here know where to take it in Hobart? As its going to have a business name on it I want it looking hot. At the moment she isnt well, has a starting issue and generally not straight. 17. hey guys, having 2 issues at the moment, car is 4ac kesev. 1. my cam timing seems to keep jumping a tooth (or two). -belt is always kept adjusted tight has the spring on there and i leaver the bearing tensioner on a little more when nipping the bolt up to make it even tighter (not over tight). -belt is probaly 40,000km's old and doesnt show signs of wear -cam wheel and crank pulley don't really look worn. if they where then they would be chewing the belt out. -valve springs are stock, cam isnt. -belt appears to run true when motor is running and cam isnt bent or anything silly -not 100% sure but may only be happening when i give it a heap of revs (i regu…

Thees pistons are from a 3T engine. Are they anything special or just the standard items? Also what is this carburetor, I believe it goes onto the 3T as well? And would it be worth putting on in place of the the standard one? My engines only mods are extractors, exhaust and these pistons.

Well, I've just fixed a problem in my car which has caused another problem (not as worse as previous problem, though). I have a ported head/manifold on my 5k and just had the head serviced, which included new exhaust gaskets! The gaskets were too small compared to the port jobs so I tried to grind them out to the size of the ports with a dremel which rooted them, causing an exhaust leak! Just after some tips on how to do it properly when I buy a new set of gaskets to try again!

Hello all, I've picked up an AE95 wagon on the cheap :jamie: with a stuffed 4AFE motor (project thread coming soon). Always wanted one of these, but a bit more straight line poke would be great. Obviously I have several options for fixing the motor - replace the 4AFE with an low kms imported or (god forbid) exchange engine, rebuild existing motor which has no compression in one cylinder, or ditch the 4AFE and replace with a 20 Valve. :) Can anyone tell me roughly what is involved with 20V conversions into these cars? Are they a fairly simple plug'n'play type thing, or are there more substantial modifications that need to be made? What expenses other than th…

Hey All, I am a newbie here. Just come over from datsun1200.com. I have just purchased a T18. L3T, T20. I was wandering what if any motor swap outs(non turbo) can be made easily. I was just toying with the idea of a few more ponies than the stock 1800cc unit or may be some easy mods to the stock unit. This is the first Toyota that I have ever owned that wasn't covered by a service and warranty plan. My daily is a 2008 Aurion SV6. Plain Jane white sportivo package that goes like a rat up a drainpipe. Sure as hell give the lads in their XR6's and SS's a bit of a hurry up :) . Hi, I have a 74 ke20 which i hope to run in group Nc as a run on. As the cut off it 72 but they allow models which where first manufactured within the specified dates (before 72.) What i am wondering is what cosmetic differences there is from the early ke20 to the late ke20 and in what year (and month if someone knows the specifics) they changed. It would be of great benifit to me if there was a model the same as my 74 manufatured before the 31st december 1972. Any help would be great. Cheers Andrew
