my car starts splattering and dieing all the time but wen i pull over and turn it of then back on it runs fine for a little while then does it again i replaced the air flow meter then i didnt do it for a week now has started again any ideas? cheers :)

Hey guys , i just had a silvertop engine installed in my ae92 and was wondering if you guys could help me out. when the car is warmed up and after driving it hard for a short period it starts to have a constant ticking noise which speeds up and slows down with the revs, should i be worried? and if so what can i do? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

I have an ae82 20v blacktop with trumpets. i need a plenum to get the car through inspection. does anyone have the stock one? Can i just put air filters on the trumpets or will that not get through inspection? thanks

hey iv recently done a 4age 20v silvertop conversion into a ke70 just wondering where i plug the brake booster into, iv googled it etc some say front some say back some say both :/ so fkn confused... also where can i get caps for the oil catchcan nipples ?

What are peoples thoughts on aftermarket cams in a 20V? It seems the biggest size one can go while retaining VVT is 264. Just trying to get a few opinions as to either get 264cams and keep VVT or scrap vvt and go larger? Cheers

hey everyone i have a ae101 with 4age 20v silvertop conversion, but only recently have been having problems with the power steering. my mate wich is a auto apprentice said it has the 7afe power steering pump on it and its not pumping enough fluid around. i went to see bbt jap spares in newcastle cause thats the closest jap/import place close to me. they said i need to find out if i need the 100kw power steering pump or a different one. any help will be great. cheers jake.

hey we just swapped in a silvertop 20v in a ke70: we use blacktop 20v M/T ECU and wiring loom we do use a map sensor we don't use the oxygen sensor or speed sensor the engine idles well and pulls hard up to approx 6500rpm, but it should rev to 8200rpm!! I want some input on why it doesn't?? wiring should be OK, we use 99RON fuel it runs alittle cold water temperature because we fitted a very big radiator, does the ecu set the rev limiter lower when it's not 90-95C? the tacho is correct we don't use the ISCV valve, we set the idle at the throttles else everything should be pretty much stock

hey. Just wondering which is better from the bigport and smallport 4ages. Which is better for what sort of driving. Pros and cons of both. And peoples personal preference.

Hi guys my name is Tim and I recently bought a keto and am currently in the process of doing the usual 4age into keto conversion... now my problem lies in the fact that the engine I bought has obviously been in a car that was in a decent sized accident and one of the tabs off the block where the bellhousing attaches has broken off. Some genius decided a resin was strong enough to hold it but that has since broken while the engine has been on the stand. I haven't taken any pics of the actual break itself but I have found one online and illustrated where it has broken off (completely, not cracked). I have camtech 272 8.6mm cams coming, as well as performance springs. I already have adjustable cam sprockets and silvertop itb. going to be sending a spare head off for a quick port and polish and will have them assemble the head with the cams and springs.. I am trying to keep costs down and wondering if i can get away without shim under bucket mod, or if its just not worth the risk. anyone run 8.6mm or more here on standard shims?

Does anyone know what is involved in fixing this problem? The engine is a small port 4age. I’ve only just brought it and apparently there was a problem with the old harmonic balancer key way having too much clearance. The harmonic balancer I have looks alright but I’m a bit concerned about the key on the actual crank. It looks a bit worse for wear. I haven’t got the new balancer on yet as the key would need to be filed down a little I think as it’s hitting the balancer. It looks kind of bent and worn so I’m thinking it would just get worse until it brakes.

hey people, i am currently trying to get my efi sorted on my 4age bigport, but i am having some problems.. and now my plans for the motor have changed and id like to go carbi. whats the deal with a dizzy, do i have to replace it with a carbi one or can i change the internals or can i leave it as it is? also I'm going twin webbers, is there any special requirements/mechanical work needed that i should know about other than removing the throttle body/intake? and is there anything else i need to change other than those 2 things?

hey guys, hope i don't get flamed for this, because i did try to search this but didnt really find anything that could tell me. But anyway, i just want to find out the differences between all the 4 age engines? like between 16v and 20 v and big port and small port? and which ones will be better to turbo later on? or will supercharging one be better/more cost effective? Will be for a ke70 and i know it all depends on money but what sort of power can these engines make? Cheers in advance for the help!

Can any one tell me where to get some extractors for ke55 with 4age ?I ve heard that ae86 ones fit ,can any one confirm?? Or maybe i have to go custom build.Not sure where to go ,i was quoted through exhaust shop for customs 650+ :D . I also checked all his listings and there where no ae86 4age extractors at all. The only ones that he can still get are for ae82 ,4age. Someone must make them :D . thanks in advance rob

hi all, just a quick question. i've been searching through all of the different forums to try n find the answer but i was wondering if someone out there has put a fwd 4age into their ae71 or ke70, and when they got it into the car did the air intake manifold clear under the bonnet without being modded in another way than just the cut n shut to put the throttle body onto the front instead of the rear???????????

Hi all. This has probably been discussed to death before but i can't find. Restoring a KE25 n am deciding what to do engine wise... I have an AE82 sitting my driveway awaiting some TLC however i have been thinking about ripping the engine out and putting it in the 25.. I have had a read in the faq bit and it seems pretty straightforward as far as converting the engine goes. Just wondering if anyone has done this and weather there are any performance issues when this conversion is done. All info small or detailed would be appreciated. Cheers. Glen

Does anyone know of any workshops/people/cousins/brothers/etc who are good at working 4AGE engines? The only person I know who knows lots about 4AGE's is Anthony Kellam, but I don't know if he knows much about working them... Bill Sherwood seems to know a lot, but he's not really someone easy to get a hold of... I'm just looking for direction as to where to go with my engine... (which probably won't go anywhere for awhile due to zero funds, but would be nice to know where I could go if I did have some funds!)

1990 Toyota Corolla GTS 4AGE FWD My harmonic balancer gave out and I searched high and low to find one, toyota has them for $450 new. Took a chance on one from a auto wrecker in New York (I live in canada near vancouver). I explained in detail that it was for a 4AGE engine to make sure I am actually getting what I am ordering. 3 weeks later it finally shows up and ofcourse its not the same as my old one. Same diameter but weighs about 2 pounds heavier. The half that drives my alternator belt is skinnier, one fewer grooves. Now I don't know if its just a matter of getting a belt to fit and this one will work fine. I don't want to take a chance on screwing up my cran…

Hi all, have a 4afe at the moment in my ae92 hatch with a a strengthened gear box. I want to know will a 4afe gearbox fix a 4age 16v / 20v. if not.. will a 4age 16v / 20v head fit on my 4afe? Cheers guys.

who was the pot smoking japman who decide to put 16point bolts on a 4age head... and then make it even harder to get out by puting them in such a narrow gap... :jamie: now i gotta go out and buy another 12mil thin walled socket just so i can get this bloody head off ;) anyway enough QQ'in any1 know the 3 stages of tightning up the head all i can find is this and it dosnt seem that good to me
