:yak: GO TO BED, OR LEARN HOW TO SPELL!!
Back to Lexxi's gripe, I always had a problem with people who's parents brought them cars when I was young.
This was mostly because my family was well below the poverty line. Several years ago, when my Mum was doing a lot better, she lent me $16K to buy mine and my wifes cars. Then when I went to pay her back she said they were a gift!!
I bawled, that car ment so much to me (until it got rearended :y:).
Then she loaned me money to help get a house (I was in the group of young people who got royally screwed by the government. $7k first home buyers and no relief from stamp duties, and an old 3+1 in a bad area was well over $300K). Now my Mum and her (not so smart) new husband have lost almost all of their life savings (buying and selling land) and had to put their house up for sale on Christmas eve. Her 50th is today, and they have a home open today. I still owe them money, but this was always a loan for 3 years (ending Nov 09), at which time I am allowed to redraw on my mortgage to pay them back. I can't afford to pay any sooner, any they would never ask me to.
I feel terrible oweing them money and watching them loose their home. My Mum has always been a stay at home parent, or worked volentry as an advocate for people with disabilities. Now she has had to start working as a carer.
Everyone forgot to plan something for her 50th (including me), so I had to quickly organise a dinner for her and try to get hold of people I hadn't seen for 10+ years, with 4 days notice. Managed to get most of them, so I really hope it cheers her up!
