Got a ke-38 with a 4afe conversion with a custom vj20 turbo setup. Decided to service it a few weeks ago (oil change, plugs, fuel and oil filter, leads, dis cap etc) and I'm not sure if its related but its been running like crap ever since. I blew an oil seal in my turbo at the same time so i swapped the turbo for a newer but the same model turbo. changed all that and thought it was my plugs all along. Tried iridium plugs at .8 gap with a heat range of 5, it runs good until the turbo spools. Tried standard ngk with a .8 gap and a 7 heat range, same thing. then i got tried ngk racing iritop 7 and it runs rough but will boost to 20+ pounds but only with a tiny bit of …

Hey there people, Well it's a long story, but I'll do my best to cut it short :lovin: I ordered some new 5K pushrods from Toyota last week and went to pick them up today. Basically got there, compared my one from my engine to the new ones, and hmmm the new ones are too long. So, I ask the guy to have a look to find the part number for the pushrods from the varied 5K models (flat top pistons/solid lifters). So anyway, the guy goes and gets help from another guy. So now two people there ask me if I am certain I have a 5K and with my response the guys looks through the computer muttering stuff the the first guy, "Check the YH** Tarago, I think they had 5K's" :D Funnily e…

Found this on ebay.... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Toyota-Celica-2T-3T...1QQcmdZViewItem If you look at the welds on the mounting flange to the head in the first pic, they look pretty ordinary compared to the other welds. Anyway, what I'm thinking is that this manifold was orinigally made for an SR or CA, then had the flange cut off it and a T series one welded on!! So for anybody interested in turboing a T series motor, it looks like they have the same exhaust port spacings as a Nissan motor! Heres an SR one..... http://cgi.ebay.com.au/SR20DET-TURBO-EXHAU...1QQcmdZViewItem

Hey guys, i'm new to this, I got a boss kit off ebay from asia and i got a steering wheel to add some customness (i don't think thats a word) to my ke70 (1983 KE70 Corolla 1.3L). i've heard about people needing a certificate to make it legal, can anyone shed some light on this, i just forked out 40 bucks for a boss kit and 80 for a wheel and i don't wanna get defected for it. The wheel is 350mm, so its only like 20mm smaller than the original so i'm not too worried about that, its the boss kit i'm concerned about. I tried google and stuff, but all i find is people trying to sell boss kits. dammit :P cheers fellas Dregs

Hi, In the process of mucking around with a set of mags for me KE15 sprinter and need some information. Now I know it is illegal to run rims that have a larger center hole than what your hub does. As it needs to be contacting this to transfer load though the hub and not the bolts attaching the wheel to the hub. Now the question is the center hole in a car rim what is the size difference/ industry standard for fit. EG is the hub on the car 60mm then the wheel 60.01 or a tighter fit or a looser fit. I'm looking into getting some inserts machined up for my rims and pressed into the rim to reduce the hole size but I need to work out a good size for the inser…

I picked up a 5k on the weekend that has the numbers cast 24010-211, which isnt on the FAQ but seem to be close to the 3k bigport head. It doesnt have the protrusions from 1 and 4 plug holes either. Does anyone know what that casting means? For the moment ill just assume its a 3k bigport head. I will be pulling the motor down next week anyway because it has a bit of blowby and could do with a build anyway by the sound of it. Ill keep you all posted on what I find, but in the meantime does anyone know FOR CERTAIN what the numbers mean? Thanks guys!

I have the standard k series radiator in my car with the 2tg and as the picture below shows the hose doesn't have the bend to fit on. As I see it I have 2 options 1. find a hose with that 90 degree bend in it - any ideas on that one? 2. Get a piece of metal pipe to fit between the hose I have and another hose that is a 90 degree bend... Any help on this?

Hey guys, firstly l'm new to this forum, and was hoping that l might be able to get some tech advice on different corolla front suspension setups, mostly in relation to camber plates/top mount etc. I have actually started up a small business on the side (www.elitepros.com), and one of the things l do is sell camber plates for datto's (l have a few dattos myself, and thus decided l didn't want to pay extraordinary prices for camber plates). During making them l have sold quite a few to datto guys, and have been requested by toyota guys (TA22,TA23 celica etc) to make them fit too. So l now have a PCD top plate that fits TA22, but also corolla (seems to be KE30-KE55). …

Hi. I have a 4age 16v big port head I was considering putting Silver Top ITB’s on. Although after measuring the area of the inlet port v’s the throttle area it seems that the 42mm throttle area is smaller than the big port inlet port area. I’m just wandering if this would choke the head of its flow capabilities. Now I’m no mathematician so my calculations could be wrong. But this is to the best of my knowledge. Port area: Area of Big Port inlet ports = 14.93cm squared Area of Small Port inlet ports = 10.68cm squared Throttle area: Area of Silver Top throttle = 13.85cm squared Area of Black Top throttle = 15.90cm squared I measured the di…

ok, YES i have checked FAQ and done some searching but still didnt solve my problem. the story, when i got my ke20 back it had a warped head, so i drove it till it died, the temp gauge went to H and stayed there. i have now put a 4k in and when i connected th temp wire to the sensor it still read H but after about 5 minutes of driving or idling the temp gauge will crawl back to C and stay there, it doesnt move after it has done this, then when i leave the car for a while and start if back up its back on H. i have tried the leave the cap off to let air out of the system, but it still hasnt fixed it, i then i put another sensor in and it still does it. so I'm stuck.…

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadil...um/t-91248.html Some interesting discussion as to whether to re-use piston rings there. I have an engine that has been "dusted" and has some oil consumption issues. Upon disassembly I have found the cross hatch to be scored and not very nice looking, but the rings and pistons seem ok. Is it possible to hone the cylinders with a bottle-brush type hone, and clean and reuse the rings? I will be probably replacing the cylinder head as well so there is no play in valve guides and there will be new valve stem oil seals so that will take care of oil consumption from that angle. Apparently bearings can not be reused suc…

So i friggin love my corolla, which i've named freedom. Its an all stock(at the moment) 1991 Seca Csi limited with the 4A-F engine(thats the carbureted one right?). I recently lost my job and so i have a lot of time on my hands, so i've been spending a lot of time on the car. I don't have a great deal of coin, so all i've done is replace the spark plugs, brake pads, leads, filters etc but now i want to start adding on rather than maintaining. I'm a bit a noob with cars but with all the problems my corolla had, i've started learning. My questions are: What does Csi limited mean? What about it is limited? just curious.... Do more expensive spark plugs help? I just g…

Engine running: Clutch pedal in, no noise. Clutch pedal fully out, noise. It only makes the noise when the clutch has fully egauged. Partially egauged, no noise. Does it in gear and out of gear. The noise seems to increase in pitch as the engine speed increases. The noise kind of sound simular to dry bearing spinng fast. The engine in front of it has only just been put there, but I believe it was making the noise with the old engine. The trans has plenty of oil. Any ideas as to what could be making this noise? Oh yeah... its a T18 with a 3TC and T50.

Hey guys, Alec here, just started to strip my 4k due to it being rebuilt (expect a build thread!!!) now i just pulled the sump off, and i looked at the timing chain and it seems to have a twin row timing chain (i think). From what i've read on the FAQ and knowledge base (How To Build A Tough 4k) the 3ks had twin row but the 4ks have single and swapping to the twin is a good maintenance mod. Now, does this mean that this has twin row? or am i missing something here, sorry for the dumb question, was just unsure. heres a pic! cheers!

hey all At the moment ive been thinking of getting my hands on a ke30 of some desription to build a fairly decent street/ track car. I want to cheap it fairly cheap until i go all out on a 4ag. I have the ability to but a 7ke long motor (which i believe you can use the 4k bolt on gear?) would this be a good idea? i can also source a sc12 to add a bit more power. But as the 7k has a fairly long stroke will it make much difference over a 4k apart from torque? Second question is, i can my hands on a locked T series diff drum to drum, how much difficulty am i going to have fitting this to a ke30? and will i need a t18 drive shaft? Third question …

So today my car got really hot when i lifted the bonnet my radiator was almost dry. so i got on my hands and knees to looks for a cracked hose or loose connection etc untill i finnaly checked my oil. which to my dissapointment was milky. so, when i get a new head gasket, i have the next task of checking to see i havent cracked my head :bash: I'm hoping since i don't drive like a retard and look after my engine that my head isnt cracked. however if it is I'm thinking of getting a 4k-e head and manifold, to make my next purchase of a turbo easier to install. good or bad move?..........thoughts? also i plan on getting either two copper head gaskets or p…
