Does anyone here have the torque specs for the rear suspension for an AE102 corolla/prizm. i need the specs for pretty much everything back there since i'm replacing a broken strut on the rear passeger side. i was hit on the wheel and it bent the shock and jammed it. my wheel survived with only a scuff. i got a set of alloys off an 90 prizm, ae86 corollla equivelent, and holy crap those wheels are strong!. best $60 i spent. thank you all in advance to anyone who can get me the info i am seeking or to anyone who can point me to where i can find it

Time to call on the collective wisdom of Corolla land. I've noticed lately especially since the weather turned a little colder that the 3K has a distimct rattle for a minute or so after starting then it quietens. Do these engines have a hydraulic tensioner on the chain that perhaps is a little slower to take up the slack when the oil is thicker? Is this a problem? Is it anything to be concerned about? Barry

Did a search but can't remember whether it was on this site or another that I read this advice. Someone suggested using a screwdriver shaft on a drill to prelubricate the bearings before a first start, after an engine strip down/rebuild. With dizzy removed the oil pump is not connected to running gear, so can be turned by poking said apparatus down dizzy hole. Never tried this before so gave it a go at the weekend, on 5K just about finished. Lubricated the bottom end OK, but couldn't see any oil coming out around the rockers. Occurred to me that upper head lubrication maybe from a flat on the camshaft journal as I have come across in other engines I have w…

Hey guys, anyone know what a 4age 16v would cost to do a rebuild on? I would do it myself with help from a mate. The big end bearings have gone and it has been sitting for a long time does anyone know what I would need to replace and what would be best to replace while I have it pulled down? and also what it would cost as a rough price, any info would be great thanks guys :y: =)

hi, I was wondering how far up the temperature gauge the needle should go. I have taken off the original fan and put an electric one on instead because it was running cold. It used to take forever to heat up, so I replaced the thermostat with a tridon brand one which is the same 82C degree's as the original one. Now the needle sits halfway on the temp gauge, even with the fan on. I'm getting the radiator recored and hoping that this helps it to run a bit colder.

I asked here and on other forums whether my 4K-C needs leaded, and I was told yes it needs lead substitute. However I was reading the "how to build a tough K engine" thing in the wiki... and it says "Valve seats made after February 1972 are made of hardened steel and are fine for use with unleaded petrol. Toyota Corporate themselves told me this." and my car is a 1981... so.... I should stop bothering with lead substitute?

Hey everyone! This is my first post here. Glad I was able to find this site, as Corolla people can be hard to track down. Anyway, I am building an '80 Corolla SR-5 Coupe (US spec TE72) for road racing. The rules of my class state that I cannot change the rear differential housing, but that the internals of the diff are open and that I can run any gear ratio and LSD unit that will fit... without modifying the housing. In the US, the TE72 came only with the 6.38 8-bolt rear (so my research tells me). I know that TRD used to make an LSD for this rear, but they have been out of production for a long time now. Are there any other LSD's out there to fit my car? I saw so…

hey guys ... well the dream run on the stock carby is over ... the float is getting stuck at the top (i think) so the carby is flooding ... Any possible reason for this ? i have pulled the needle and seat out and cleaned them up, they look in immaculate condition... Where the fuel line plugs onto the carby, just inside the 'tube' where it bends down at a 45 degree angle, there is a sort of 'filter' i guess you'd call it ... well this one was stuffed and wouldn't let any fuel into the motor when i first put the carby on, so i took it out ... My question - what is that thing ? Could that be the source of my problems? i thought it might have just been a …

The car will also heat up slightly but stays within the "normal" range on the guage. on pulling over the car will run very slightly rough but then correct itself within 20 seconds or so. after losing power and reaching the top the car will drive normally and wont do it again until under a consistant high load. the problem has …

I can't help but notice the "two" extra cylinders out of the Toyota V8  are you really comparing a V8 to an inline 6? Alright then, here we go. I presume your talking about the 1ggte, the twin turbo inline six 2.0L toyota engine, that was found in the JZA70 Supras. The JZA70 Supras weighed in at 1586kg, and the motor makes 210hp (156kw) (according to wikipedia.com) On the other side, you are comparing the 'Barra Turbo', the single turbo inline six 4.0L ford engine, that is found in the BF F6 Typhoon. Does anyone know what this is, and if so how to fix it? It's all the little things in it that screw up, the engine is brand new so I don't think it's that... my friend said that it's most likely the gear box locking up or the brake booster stuffed up -- can anyone verify? …

I'm wondering whether to get the ports on my 5k cylinder head polished or not. I've been searching the net for info regarding this and a good piece I found (on WIKIPEDIA) was this: The reason that polished ports are not advantageous from a flow standpoint is that at the interface between the metal wall and the air, the air speed is ZERO. This is due to the wetting action of the air and indeed all fluids. The first layer of molecules adheres to the wall and does not move significantly. The rest of the flow field must shear past which develops a velocity profile (or gradient) across the duct. In order for surface roughness to impact flow appreciably, the high spots must…

Hey guys, So today I start up my car and drive out, when i get to the roundabout i press the clutch to go from 4th to 2nd and the revs drop suddenly to just 400-500 revs. This is a far cry from the 700-800rpm the car normalls sits at in neutral. It feels like it's about to stall every time i put the clutch in. This is making everyday driving more difficult, and is really pissing me off.
