Hi Everyone! My friend owns a Daihatsu Rocky with the Toyota 3Y motor and a couple of days ago it was driven through a puddle just under a metre deep (would have only been touching sump area, though) and ever since it has lost all of it's torque and pulling power. It will rev up fine, although backfires a little bit when it's decelerating. Any suggestions as to what could be causing this? My friend claims to have cleaned under and around the dizzy cap! Cheers

Does anyone know the tension the head bolts in a 5k engine should be set to? Or know where I can find this?

Just wondering does the bottom of the back seat in a ke30 sedan interchange with the one in a ke38 wagon? The part of the back seat you actually sit on, not the back rest. Cheers.

Hey I'm just after a few opinions on options I'm thinking about for my new tow vehicle. The vehicle in question is a YH81R Toyota Dyna 100 dual cab. It currently has a 4y 2200cc petrol engine with a g55 gearbox and a 4.875:1 ratio diff, running 185r14lt tyres. It has engine problems (blown head gasket at least) which mean that I have to pull the head and/or engine out and have a play around with it. I will also be fitting a heavy duty radiator to it as well. It currently is set up for petrol and lpg. When the engine is apart, I'm thinking about the merits of getting the camshaft reground. The cam I was thinking about was a tighe 300AT, with 260 degrees advertised dur…

Hey guys. I'm looking at upgrading my suspensionin my 71. But i can't find what parts i could use from other toyota cars setting up for mainly trackwork, after more camber and a stiiffer ride. Just entry level setup. Is it sigma control arms, ra40 steering arms, xt130 corona struts that can be used and what mods are needed to make them work. And what are some good brake upgrades as well.

Greetings all I'm a complete virgin to this site so forgive me if i post this in the wrong section :-) I have just got myself a new baby, a 1970 corona 4 door rt80 1.5 litre little beast. It is in cracker nick to, but its braking is something to be desired. Even after replacing the pads:-( My question is simple. Does anyone know how hard it is to replace the front drum brakes with disc brakes? I have been browsing the net. but have found diddily squat. it does seem that a later built rt80 had front disc's so I'm hoping that it will be easy...ish. Cheers

hey guys i'm just out for some advice on what kind of lsd's i could put into a ke70 with out much trouble. have a locker atm but looking to get a rwc asap. don't want to keep driving around with a locker as the police here are really cracking down on defects as such. i've been told i can get a hilux diff shortened but i'm still unsure on that. any ideas would be helpful, thanks guys

I wont to put a 7K in my ke70 and i wont to no if the 4K head ,dizy, alternater etc will fit the 7K block and also is it a good cheep upgrade its just my daley so i don't wont to spend to much money thanks

hey i have heard that the 7afe head gasket came out standard as a metal one this would fit on a 4afe wouldnt it if so does anybody know and good places in adelaide that sell them thank you very much

what sort of cam lift can i put into a 4ac motor ? i have a 4ac in a ae 71 83 carolla it has towing gears ,( will check diff ratio on weekend ) & a 3 speed auto that shifts hard ( really bangs into gear & has done since my mate got it about 7 years ago ) the engine was fully rebuilt 3 1/2 years ago with new acl pistons + 1mm over . the head was mildly ported ( just cleaned up / deburred casting flash but lightly ran over entire port with burr then finished with tape ) i have a rebuilt 32/36 webber carb & adapter plate & new air cleaner . if i regrind my cam for more top end & use a stall covertor & extractors what sort of hp could i expect ??? …

Hey folks, I tried searching for this but it wouldn't let me search "5" or "6" because they are too small...anyhow, if this has been asked before please just redirect me and it would be greatly appreciated :thumbsup: So basically, I'm converting my 4afe ae92 to a blacktop and i was wondering whether i should purchase the one with a 5 speed tranny or the 6 speed? There will be none to minimal trackwork being done and it is a daily. So straight line speed which is quicker? Or more economical? And as a final question, would the 6 speed need modifications done to the transmission tunnel/shifter, and how much would this cost? As there is an extra gear and all... Any person…

hey I'm new to this forum but have learnt alot from them in the past when fixing my 3 wheeler.. my newest project has been a stock 83 toyota corona with a 3 speed auto.. it has 148 000ks. it ended up out front of the wreckers from a deceased estate... by the time i got it 6 months rego it had cost me about 900$.. the car drives perfect, the 3 speed lets it down but otherwise its great.. it likes doin 80ks before it sounds like its really drinking fuel.. my mate said he had an old turbo laying around i could have and now I'm looking for ideas.. heres my thoughts anyway.. let me know what u think... i want to run the exhasut from the drivers side behind the engine aroun…

hey guys, i know absoulty nothing about carbie motors and i just bout a corolla with a 3k auto engine. the car will start fine and will start on as long as my foot is on the accelator, as soon as i let it off the car wont hold idle at all after a few seconds and will just die on me. I'm wondering what can i do to fix this? thanks a heap any advice is highly appreticated.

Hi all, I have a 95 toyota corolla seca (7A-FE engine) which needs the water pump replaced. Is this a job suitable for DIY. I want to give it ago mysel but I've heard horrible reports about lifting the engine to gain access. What would a mechanic roughly charge to do the job.

I'm looking at a set of 15" x 7" superlites with a +24mm offset. PCD is 4 x 110 so there is no drama there. just wanting to know about the offset. will these fit my ke20 before i go out and spend the cash? any help muchly appreciated. b.

Just a quick question, can I use a silvertop timing gear on the blacktop 20v, just hard to find a blacktop 20v timing gear for the inlet, apparantly it is going to take a month for the blacktop one to be shipped out from japan. But i know someone i can get a silvertop one from, so just wondering if its possible, i do know that the blacktop timing belt has an extra tooth compared to the silver top so it might be a pretty stupid question in that sense, but i still want to make sure.

hey guys i got a 3s engine in my garage that my bro got off a mate for free and i was wondering has anyone put these in a ke70 or is it the wrong type of motor? i couldnt find anything through the search option maybe i wasnt typing in the right stuff. its got all the wiring and computer and stuff, i kno its out of a front wheel drive but thats not hard to change. so yea any ideas if it would be a good engine to use?

hey all need help put the 20v in my seca but I'm having fuel prob the car is getting to much fuel. its got standard 20v computerwith a vl pump. the car iddles good but blows heaps of black smoke just on idle then when i accelerate i cutts out but if i accelerate softly runs fine HELP :wink:
