Hey guys, gals and in between. Been on here for a while now and only realised then that I didn't have a project thread so I thought it'd be time to make one. Also because I am bored. ;) Car started out as a bog stock 83 KE70 CS which I picked up for $500 complete with a lot of dings and original metallic paint which had lost all of its colour so was just basically metal. Nethertheless, it also had 6 months rego and was a good base to start with, as I was only on my L's then. All the work has been done by myself and my old man so he has saved me money and taught me alot about it. Being my only car, nothing to major is being carried out on it as I need to get to wo…

This build has been going on for over a year now but thought i would throw the history up here So a dream of mine over the last few years of lurking in the corner of my father in laws rally career has finally come true. I recently took ownership of am 83 Kp rally car. I have been wanting to get on the gravel for a while, and have had a go co driving for my father in law in his escort. Now its time to get into the hot seat myself. He gave me a bit of cash towards this starlet under the priviso that he sits in the co pilot seat and teaches me with the occa…

I sold my '66 valiant quick for $675usd and bought this TE72 wagon for $400usd. The car was really well cared for by its original owner, it always went to the Toyota dealer for everything but things he could get a better warranty on. (Exhaust, brakes, tires, batteries.....etc) The car had 40,000mi on it by the time it was a year old! The po was a carpenter and used it like a truck; he even bragged he had 8 sheets of plywood strapped to the roof. Overall; it's pretty clean; it's condition belies the 275,000 MILES on it. It doesn't smoke, knock, use oil. Trans shifts perfect, it's supposed to have 3.58 gears, but feels more like 3.90. When I found it I was told it neede…

well i sold my ke30 during the week and went and bought this the plan is to have a go at drifting and in my opinion this is a great car to learn in as the body isnt the best and it can't be regoed so it doesnt matter if i dent it :laff: the best part about it is it's already set up for sliding with the suspention consisting of ae86 front struts, new shocks and vl springs, ae86 vented disks and calipers with braided lines and corona control arms. whilst the rear end has new boge turbo rear shocks and falcon springs making the car stiff as f**k the drive train is pretty much done with the exeption of a cracked piston ring which is as simple as a rebuild to fix s…

Hi all, Well after completely blowing the budget on 67Rolla (over $13K...and still going) I've got myself a KE20 with some front end damage that I hope to have on the road for less than $1k. The car cost me $400 without a motor (thanks Chris :jamie: ), but just picked up a 3k for $150 (thanks Callum  ). So budget is looking good so far. I'll be putting 13" rims on her as 12" tires cost a fortune. So $260 for new tires. The car came with all the bits to put the front end back together. My brother in law pulled the front end out for me on the weekend, all I need is a new lower radiator support. Once the front end is back together and the engine is …

Hi all, I'm a long time lurker short time member. I got addicted to Corollas over 10 years ago when a mate at Uni had a green KE10 with a 4K in it. We once lapped it around Mt Panorama to charge it after I helped him out with a jumpstart. It was a complete hoot and I've never forgotten it - Tommo, if you're reading this, hope you've still got her! Anyway, not quite a KE10 but I've gone and picked up a KE20. She was lurking on the other side of town, perched up on old gas tanks at the metal recyclers. They had picked it up at a deceased estate and it was in very sorry condition - filthy both inside and out, perished rims and tyres, starting to rust on the bottom …

(KE70/TE71/DX/L/GL/GLS,etc) I met this guy named Frank Oliver, he started the Box Toyota club in the 90's( not sure when can't think now on the top of my head.) The club ranges from box front, slant front, and lift back rear wheel drive Toyotas. The progression of the club is determined by the crowd it attracts and the passion they have for these cars. So far they have ventured to events around the Cape, even stretching up as far as Atlantis, Bredarsdorp, Ceres and Worcester. Members from all over the Cape have united, and the love for these cars are every growing. The club is ever growing, and is slowly starting to get …

Hey guys, I think I posted on this site before, but for some reason I can't seem to dig the old post up to put some more recent photos, nothing much has changed. Anyways here are some recent pictures. Some things I would like to do: The bump strip needs some attention, I either want to take it off all together or move it down along the door line. Because at the moment it is looking really tacky. The motor needs new valve stem seals I think, blows some blue smoke on startup and around town sometimes. The front metal bumper bar has a little dint if a keen eye can spot it out. Apart from that I'm keeping it original. Hope you like the pics. …
