I have been working on my Peanut for the past few months bit by bits and so far I'm %75 done. My car came with an extra rebuilt 3K motor when I purchased the car. I was going to put 4AGE in it, but decided at the meantime since money right now is pretty tight the rebuilt 3K would sufice fro now. The car came with a K40 4speed tranny, but I was lucky enough to get a K50 5speed tranny from a Starlet at a local salvage yard. The K50 bolts right in with no modifications needed. I am also putting in a dual Mikuni 40s sidedraft setup with my stock motor. I also have a K series header, but I am having clearance issues because of the steering box on the way. Brought This car the other day, as you all know, its a 1979 Toyota T-18 TE72. Engine/Driveline 3tc Everything stock, T50 Suspension Everything stock. I have viewed a few engine conversions that have been done and are in the making but i have seen one that hasnt been mentioned here yet that my mate has done on his ke70,it is a very cheap and fairly straightforward conversion.My mate put 2.6 4g54 sigma engine and 5 speed box (which he scored for free) into his ke70.He fabricated has own engine mounts,moved the gearbox crossmember slightly rearwards,swapped the sigma slip yoke to the corolla tailshaft(sigma and corolla share the same uni joint!!)made a gearbox mount out of an old strut bar bush,exractors were custom made(possibly the dearest part of the job ,standard corolla clutch cable(with a 4kc engine)hooked straight …

Hey guys, Well here is my current headache. Just installing the motor now. Already installed the rear end of an ae86, tranny, front and rear susp. I know the car is all dirty and nasty right now. But the plan is to get the car running right, then tear it back down again, detail all the parts and repaint the whole shell. Then put it back together again. Picked up my first car just recently in South Aus :) Done 80,000 original km's with full service history. Couple of spots of bubble rust (which I plan on getting restored), cracked dash and an unusual yellow paint area on the front panels are pretty much the worst things on the whole. This car was an absolute rust bucket and needed a lot of TLC but it started everyday!!! But some one stole it and wrecked it. I found her back on its side in a ditch totaly wrecked. I put a 4k in it extracters,made coilovers with ke30 struts,ajustable lower control arms, flared the guards and put some FAT FEET under it,ke30 diff cause i couldn't find a 25 one at the time. Got me a poo-brown AE71. Story goes my mate Jonezee bought this off a Granny, got it defected, got lazy and sold it to me for $500 all canaried. Took a weeks worth of bringing it up to regency spec and it passed first shot, HYPED! All outta rego, I took it home, put it on jack stands and spent some money on it... Well ive been searching long and hard for a decent 2 door ke30 and i finally found one which i purchased off ebay today. Its a 1974 model been resprayed blue. Apparently an apprentice spraypainter owned the car before this bloke and this was the first car he'd sprayed. So the paint is average but will definately come up shiny with a light polish. I basically was looking for one that was pretty dint free and minimal to no rust or previous damage in the rear and doors as the front half of the panels are easier to find than the back.
