Greetings all I'm a complete virgin to this site so forgive me if i post this in the wrong section :-) I have just got myself a new baby, a 1970 corona 4 door rt80 1.5 litre little beast. It is in cracker nick to, but its braking is something to be desired. Even after replacing the pads:-( My question is simple. Does anyone know how hard it is to replace the front drum brakes with disc brakes? I have been browsing the net. but have found diddily squat. it does seem that a later built rt80 had front disc's so I'm hoping that it will be easy...ish. Cheers

hey guys after an opinion on what pistons to get with my rebuild kit, i have the option of wiseco forged pistons to suit 4age or 4agze, plans for the engine it to rebuild it and run it NA untill i have every thing sorted then fit turbo (HKS T28) and aftermarket computer ect, i could get 4agze pistons and shave the head to bring the compression back up to near stock then i have to source a new head once the turbo goes on (allows me to build a decent head with cams and such) 4age pistons and run a decomp plate 4age pistons and keep the boost lowish and still be drivable off boost thanks guys  also its a smallport if it makes any different

Just wondering if anybody has ever had any problems with idler pulley or tensioner bolts breaking on the timing belt of a toyota s series engine? I replaced a timing belt on either a 3s-fe or a 5s-fe, and the idler/tensioners were noisy so I replaced those as well. less than 10,000km/6months later the bolt for one of them has broken, apparently from over-tensioning. I'm sure I didn't over-tension the bolts and I'm sure they felt quite ok when I did them up. Somebody else has done the repairs, apparently there was considerable damage to the valves when the whole lot came unstuck :) Just wondering if anybody has seem this before, I know there are a lot of people on here…

As title suggests I've snapped an axle in my KE30, the part of it that fits into diff still remains inside(stopping me from removing my diff :) ) Any suggestions to getting it out(preferably without removing diff housing)? And if too much hassle would I be alright chopping part of the affected axle off so only one wheel spins, but so I can still bolt it back up(have a welded diff)? Or if possible to remove the stuck part of axle, mine being a banjo type, would a borg warner axle fit(as these are much easier to find for me)? Few questions but any suggestions/ experience will be much appreciated. Cheers

Yo homiez! I hate fuel systems. I now smell of petrol. The only plus side of this whole operation is that the AE71 has a drain plug in the fuel tank, which means no siphoning for me! I'll cut to the chase: Trying to set up my AE71's 4AGE fuel system. I opted for the in-tank pump setup, not the external VL lifter + sender type setup, because i couldn't be bothered to deal with the noise, and to have to mount more things in the boot / under the car etc. I mistakenly believed that the EFI pump from an AE82 would fit into my AE71's hole... WRONG! If you're reading this and thinking this is the go, IT ISN'T! Look at images from the two. The AE82's pump mount…

Hey guys. I'm looking at upgrading my suspensionin my 71. But i can't find what parts i could use from other toyota cars setting up for mainly trackwork, after more camber and a stiiffer ride. Just entry level setup. Is it sigma control arms, ra40 steering arms, xt130 corona struts that can be used and what mods are needed to make them work. And what are some good brake upgrades as well.

hey all. I noticed today that the fuel return line on my ke70 was bucketing out fuel. I havnt got a hose attached to it as the new carbs i have don't have a return line. Is there a way i can block it up? Or should i maybe put a double fuel pipe on the second carb and run a hose back to the return line? Any advice/help would be great

So my drums are screwed and I figured I'd do the conversion while I'm in there fixing the old. So my question is has anyone done this and is anyone keen to give me a hand to do it. It's my daily so I'd be keen to do it asap. Also if anyone is near a wreckers who has seen the required parts and is keen to grab them and post them that would be great.

hey I've been talking about this on another forum, and there seems to be mixed opinion as to the merit of heat wrapping exhaust extractors, one train of thought goes that this will contain heat in the exhaust pipe, which promotes greater gas speed and better scavenging, and also this reduces under bonnet temperatures, the other train of thought goes that this will cause the extractors to crack from overheating, and they will also corrode away faster, thus negating the benefits especially on a road-going car. Who here has exhaust wrapping, what are your headers made out of, and how long have you had them set up that way? I was thinking of buying a set of reasonabl…

Hey all, This is something I mentioned in a for sale thread last week, thought I'd take a couple of pics for those that want to see. Basically, all K motors have the same size exhaust ports except for a 7ke. 7kc still is still the same size as 3/4/5k's. Below is a couple of pics of a 7ke manifold gasket up against a 3k big port head. And for anybody who didn't know 7ke's also have bigger oval shaped inlet ports. If you round out the holes they're then the size of a 3kbp. size for the average pics, they're off my phone. Cheers, Si.

Hi, Ive recently done a swap from a KE70 to a KE55 extension housing on a 5 speed, no problem lining it up or anything. The problem I'm having is that before i changed the housing it all changed gears nicely, no problems, no I'm putting the KE55 one and i can't manage to change gears any more. Ive tried aligning the gear shifter to the correct gear and everything, but i still have no luck, i can't even change the gear using the control inside the extension housing. Any ideas Cheers

http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums/cadil...um/t-91248.html Some interesting discussion as to whether to re-use piston rings there. I have an engine that has been "dusted" and has some oil consumption issues. Upon disassembly I have found the cross hatch to be scored and not very nice looking, but the rings and pistons seem ok. Is it possible to hone the cylinders with a bottle-brush type hone, and clean and reuse the rings? I will be probably replacing the cylinder head as well so there is no play in valve guides and there will be new valve stem oil seals so that will take care of oil consumption from that angle. Apparently bearings can not be reused suc…

After fully engaging 5th gear, on the highway, after a few seconds it jumps back to neutral. Doesn't happen with any other gear, only 5th. Anyone know what it could be? Nothing in the car has changed. Any info would be appreciated.

Hi Guys, I've got a set of KE30 stock rims laying around (114.3) and I'm thinking of drilling them out to fit my KE20 (110). :) Has anyone had a go at this? It sounds pretty dodgy but its a cheap alternative. I guess if the hub holds the rim in place it will stop any play in the rim. Cheers Vinnie.
