Well, I've just fixed a problem in my car which has caused another problem (not as worse as previous problem, though). I have a ported head/manifold on my 5k and just had the head serviced, which included new exhaust gaskets! The gaskets were too small compared to the port jobs so I tried to grind them out to the size of the ports with a dremel which rooted them, causing an exhaust leak! Just after some tips on how to do it properly when I buy a new set of gaskets to try again!

The pinion shaft has come loose in my diff centre and made contact with the pinion and crown wheel chipping the teeth. The pinion and crown wheel still turn ok so I would like to lock this centre via welding with my arc welder. I have a new diff for the car so don’t care how long the locker lasts. It’s always had a lot of backlash anyway. What I want to know is: • Can I weld the pinion shaft to the differential case? Would I use cast iron rods? • Do I use cast iron rods when welding the side and pinion gears? Locker will be used at the track for sliding practice. Any help would be dandy.

  4. Yo all. Building me up a straight ghetto AE71 for 90% daily work, 10% possible drifting practice. So in this case, i have a few questions in regards to surge tanks. - Does the AE71 standard fuel tank have no baffling as standard, designating the need for an external fuel pump + surge tank setup? - If i was to place the surge tank in the boot, is it ill-advised to have my battery relocated to the boot as well? A hypothetical situation i was thinking was spark from battery into enclosed space of boot + petrol vapour = bang. - If that is not / should not be a problem, are there legality concerns in regards to the above setup on the street? Would this the…

Over the years I have removed many door cards from many different cars with varying success. Is there a fail-safe way of doing this without causing any damage or pulling the plastic lugs through the cardboard? I recently learnt the trick of using a piece of material to remove the clip holding window winders on. Is there a similar trick to removing door cards?

Hey guys, I am looking for another, better diff for my AE71 wagon (leaf-spings). I have done a fair bit of searching, and it looks like an F series from a RT 104 Corona might be the best option. It looks like it will have the right stud pattern (4x114.3) and the right suspension mounts (leaf springs), but I can't find what width it is. Does anyone know?

hey guys, pulled the weber off my 4ac today as it has been running like a bag of shit (and had to fix the linkage). cleaned out the jets, blew everything out, checked and cleaned out accelerator pump. noted one of the jets in the bottom of the bowl had a bit of shit in it and was half blocked. put it all back together, sealed up and bolted it back on. got it running and it was still doing the same thing that it was before. when you first start it, its pooring so much fuel down it, it will not run any faster then about 700rpm. over the next 3 minutes (as it starts to warm up i guess), it gradually builds up until it clears and is drivable (still very boggy at l…

  13. hey guys, having 2 issues at the moment, car is 4ac kesev. 1. my cam timing seems to keep jumping a tooth (or two). -belt is always kept adjusted tight has the spring on there and i leaver the bearing tensioner on a little more when nipping the bolt up to make it even tighter (not over tight). -belt is probaly 40,000km's old and doesnt show signs of wear -cam wheel and crank pulley don't really look worn. if they where then they would be chewing the belt out. -valve springs are stock, cam isnt. -belt appears to run true when motor is running and cam isnt bent or anything silly -not 100% sure but may only be happening when i give it a heap of revs (i regu…

G'day all, I just bought an Electric choke to install on my 32/36 Weber, thing is though, i can't seem to adjust it properly. So, I was hoping that some of you out there could inform me how to properly adjust a Electric Choke so it does it's job properly, because at the moment it's jumping all around the place at different temperatures... Note that the choke uses a Bi-Metal spring that recieves power from the ignition to heat it. Thanks. Stewart.

Some poeple claim the ta22 pedals bolt in, but apparently not. The photos mostly suck due to it still being in the car, but i tried. I used a ta22 master cylinder. The distance between the top pivot and where the cylinder pivots on is 64mm centre to centre. The master cylinder bolts on to the factory location stamped on the firewall, although you have to drill it to finish the job Under the dash The pivot point for thr pedal had…

hi all, I'm doing a 4age into ke70 conversion and have come across one of many problems, the rubber on the motor side of my injectors don't fit snuggly into the holes, they slip in and out with no effort. my question is, is this how they are supposed to be or do i need to invest in a new set of rubber rings? my thoughts are that when the fuel rail pressurizes the injectors gets pushed into the hole and they seal from the amount of force placed on them from the fuel rail. any help appreciated cheers
