Hey all, my car (89 csx seca, 4afc engine, c50 box) has no first or second gear, 3rd and 4th work fine and reverse is fine. because 3rd and 4th work fine, this eliminates to clutch as a suspect right? what things should i check to determine and fix the problem? ive got a max ellery manual, but they arent the greatest espescially when knowledge is already limited. thanks in advance. Calam.

  4. Some of you may remember reading that i converted my ke25 from a 7k turbo, to a standard 5k which ive just recently had rebuilt. Ive bought a ke70 now and i want to put the 7k turbo into the ke70 for burnout comps, the problem is that the motor over heats really easy, it has a standard 3,4,5k radiator and a engine fan at the moment, I'm thinking that obviously i should put a bigger rad in it with a thermo fan considering the motor came out of a liteace van and the rad would have been a lot bigger then the standard one. But is that the best option? is there a better way? :no2:

Hey guys, Just woundering what the problem could be with my gearbox - its a ae71 with a 4ac and t50 gearbox? I was about give it abit of stick up a hill (hate hill starts anyways...) anyways i revved to about 3k and slowly let the clutch out... that was all good untill i went to go into 2nd, I put the clutch in, shifted into 2nd and let go of the clutch... then my car free revved - it was no longer in 'gear' ... so i rolled to a stop. i then tried to put it back into 1st to take off and nothing... so i tried all gears and nothing... so i then i though, stuff it! i wont use the clutch... and put it into first, no crunching, just slipped in and it seems like …

Hey guys, working on and been around a couple KM36's. My question is what family gearbox do they run? I know 7K-x's run a W56. The boxes are an external linkage unlike all other toyota (passenger car) boxes I've seen. (due to column shift) They have a removable bellhousing, am wondering if it could be mated up to a stronger box? CHEERS Ryan

  11. I have a ke30 2 door sedan with a jap diff. I was wanting to put a borg warner in it with stock rolla sway bar etc. I think its out of a ke55. Anyways to me the ke30 with the jap diffs seem a bit sloppy in the rear end. I think the ke30's ive had in the past with borg warner diffs seem to ride better. I know I'm going to have to drill holes for mounting the sway bar brackets that attach to the body. so here are my questions Are the leaf springs differant on the jap diffs compared to those on the Borg Warner? ( the later model KE's seem to have heavier leafs to me from memory) If so, will the later leaf springs fit in my 1975 ke30 2 door without modification to the…

  12. Hey guys, installed new carby. all good except for the accelerator mechanism While my Throttle cable isnt connected, the mechanism which it connects to, on the side of the carby; works "fine" doesnt seem to feel real good, but still works, springs back to closed throttle and idles at approx 1k RPM But when the throttle cable IS connected, it appears that it restricts the mechanism from fully closing. Is this a matter of replcing the springs which allow the mechanism to return to close the throat of the carby? Possibly missing a spring??? Thanks guys

Hey guys, got a problem with my 3k at idle (well i think its only at idle), basically i've rebuilt the motor about 2500km ago and just rebuilt the carby on sunday because of flat spots and hesistation and stuff. But even before the rebuild (of the carby) the engine doesn't seem to idle smooth at all, a mechanic said the 3k is a really smooth motor and can run down to 400rpm but mine barely does 800....the rebuild was completely stock (so no bigger cam or pistons) the only thing i can think of is the timing chain is 1 tooth out or something.....and when i say "i think its only at idle" i mean i don't think its producing as much power as it should and yes i know 1.2L is not…

Hi, I have a 74 ke20 which i hope to run in group Nc as a run on. As the cut off it 72 but they allow models which where first manufactured within the specified dates (before 72.) What i am wondering is what cosmetic differences there is from the early ke20 to the late ke20 and in what year (and month if someone knows the specifics) they changed. It would be of great benifit to me if there was a model the same as my 74 manufatured before the 31st december 1972. Any help would be great. Cheers Andrew

Hi everybody, i am very new to this forum stuff, so please help me out along the way. I have a 1991 toyota corolla hatch AE94. The engine for my car is a 4A-FE. The problem is I'm starting to get a little bored smile.gif so i would like to know how to increase the power of my car, even if its just a little. Hopefully getting the extra power with out putting a new engine (e.g. 4A-GE) or a turbo set up in my car. I am very happy with my car, just want a little more power. I don't have very deep pocket either sad.gif still a student and work part time. All your input will be very appreciated. thank

Ok guy here's the story I've got a 4AGE bigport in my KE70, it has had the engine in there running 1.5 years ago then we pulled it out. Have recently got it back in and running. When we first started it there were some issues starting, got it sorted turns out the coil was not happy and we changed it and it was running great for about an hour... We jacked up the back end to put the new tailshaft in and wire the thermo fan back in and now it doesn't want to run.. We unplugged the MAP and it started and ran, rough but it ran, would not rev over 4500 rpm. When we plug the map in when it's running it idles great won't rev and then it stalls about 4 seconds after reconnecting i…
