Hey guys, Alec here, just started to strip my 4k due to it being rebuilt (expect a build thread!!!) now i just pulled the sump off, and i looked at the timing chain and it seems to have a twin row timing chain (i think). From what i've read on the FAQ and knowledge base (How To Build A Tough 4k) the 3ks had twin row but the 4ks have single and swapping to the twin is a good maintenance mod. Now, does this mean that this has twin row? or am i missing something here, sorry for the dumb question, was just unsure. heres a pic! cheers!

Hi I'm Rod and I'm new to the forum. I have little mech knowledge but can swing a spray gun so if i can help anyone there so be it. Anyway heres the background i got a ae95 wagon but the engine has done the bottom end. Its got 370000 on the clock but it is still a great car. I bought another 4AFE but it turns out its a 4AFHE jap import engine and has a few differences to the local engine. The main one is there is no PCV outlet from the block into the manifold. So heres where my questions begin. The PCV purges gasses from the crankcase into the intake manifold depending on throttle speed the more throttle the more the valve opens? There is another valve that looks s…

Hey everyone, I've fitted semi slicks to my 20 now... and I've been told to be careful of 2 things: 1. Over working the brakes with increased speeds (already ordered front pads in the QFM A1RM, double the working temp of my current pads) and 2. Oil surge as a result of increased corner speed and non baffled sump. While not a solution, I am in the process of fitting an oil pressure gauge and an autometer pro warning light (idiot light) I'm just concerned about the number of senders being tee'd off the oil pressure switch. There is the gauge, a idiot light sender and in the future, a 5psi electric fuel pump safety shut off switch. I have a few questions,…

Engine running: Clutch pedal in, no noise. Clutch pedal fully out, noise. It only makes the noise when the clutch has fully egauged. Partially egauged, no noise. Does it in gear and out of gear. The noise seems to increase in pitch as the engine speed increases. The noise kind of sound simular to dry bearing spinng fast. The engine in front of it has only just been put there, but I believe it was making the noise with the old engine. The trans has plenty of oil. Any ideas as to what could be making this noise? Oh yeah... its a T18 with a 3TC and T50.

Hey guys!! When i'm going to start up the car it tries to turn over once, very unenthusiastically, and then when olding the ignition on produces a steady clicking noise. All ive done today is take my carby off, retighten all the bolts to ensure there is no vacuum leak, and refit it. Once refitted the car ran fine....but now not at all!!... It's not like the clicking i heard when my Daihatsu charade starter motor went, bit slower.... Thanks for any help

Hi Everyone, First off, we are talking about the Borg-Warner diff. Sorry, this is a bit of an unwanted question, but I'm in a hurry to get my KE70 on the road again by tomorrow and need to know whether the left and right axles are the same length and are universal between left and right. Looking for a definite answer. Reason being is I have a spare axle (L or R I'm not sure) and would be easier to take it to the shop and get it pressed on, rather than taking out the car axle and using that. I won't have the time to get it all done if I take them all out and measure it up. Many thanks, Vince

New to the forums and to Toyotas. I recently aquired a 1986 Ae82 5 door for 100 bucks. The beast runs and drives, but its an automatic. A few days ago I got an FX16 parts car complete with a manual trans, pedals and all, Also for 100 bucks. Ill be doing a manual swap shortly. I just have a few more questions as I want to get everything off of this car that I possibly can before junking it. I have read that the front struts can swap directly over? Can anyone verify this? I also would like to know if the rear strut assembly can swap over as well as I would really like the rear swaybar and rear disc setup. Does anyone know exactly what needs to swap over? It maybe easi…

ok so had a look at my ke11 from front on and both front wheels appear to be running positive camber, like a noticeably large amount. now is this standard ke1X or whats going on, does it have anything to do with the leaf at the front end? seems odd, never had this on any other corolla of mine. cheers nick

Hay I’m trying to work out where to find new plastic bushes for the linkage shaft on a Weber manifold. I don’t know what brand the manifold is but was told it came from America. I looked through a Redline parts catalogue but couldn’t find anything. Hope I don’t have to get new ones made from scratch (machined). So does anyone know where I might be able to get these darn things? Help appreciated.

  26. Hi, Trying to fit a set of shock absorbers to the rear of a KE15. I had an original shock absorber but threw it out so can't get this measurement so this is where I need all your help. I need to know the internal diameter of the bottom bushing sleeve (steel sleeve in bottom of shock absorber rubber bushing that connects to the diff) in a standard KE1X shock absorber? Reason is I need to find a suitable bushing with the right internal clearance for a ke1X bolt and that has the right external diameter for a rubber bushing that will fit the shock. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers Cameron

Ok Guys, Some of you would have seen my build ke20. It came with a 4k motor and runs perfect, Only thing is I'm a p plater so as soon as i Finish building it ill need to buy a 3k motor. Not allowed Engine conversions Now I'm off work for a while with a torn calf muscle, And no income. What would a Clean, Running 4k motor be worth? I would like to try trade it for a 3k, But i need money to support the paint now and worry about motor later. Also, Another option i have thought of.. Would 4k internals fit into the 3k with boring and all supporting work done? and would it be worth it?
