  1. Hey I'm putting a k&n cylinder pod filter on my car by instead of the current air box, is it a straight forward installation. Is there any required change of the jets due to the fact that there will be more air flow cause I'm only planing to get a pod as big as the current filter. Cheers

Hey guys, Problem. I leant my KE26 to my mum for the night, she drove it not too far at all. She experienced a problem. I came and drove it back home. From start off i can get into first gear then second then third etc (K50). However in between the gears I experience a major crunching of something, it feels like some gears aren't connecting and feels as if i'm dragging about a tonne of metal along the ground. And when i'm in 4th if i drop below a certain rev limit it starts again. It's fine above a certain speed or rpm then it clunks and jumps around like all hell. :bash: :bash: :bash: As it was dark and was in a car park i couldn't see much, it looked as if dr…

Hi Can anyone give, or direct me to, the correct Australian tune-up settings for a 4A-C engine. I was given an August 1986 AE82 1587cc. It would benefit from a tune. I've looked online and can find US and Cailfornian specs only. They may different to Oz. I would like to know, best plugs, plug gap, ignition timing, (idle speed to set timimg if not around 750rpm). Also another basic question, are the valves hardened and able to run on Unleaded only? Ta, Brett

Hey guys I'm about to get an AE92 Seca with a 4AFE. I am looking to rebuild/recondition the motor just to keep it going for many thousands of kms. Is it possible to rebuild a 4AFE with 4AGE internals eg pistons, rods, rings, bearings? As i have heard the only difference is the intake cam spins backwards on the 4AFE and i can't see why the 4AGE internals wouldn't fit. If it's not possible, are there any manafacturers that make rebuild kits for a 4AFE as i can only find them in America. Any extra info would be great. Cheers

I'm new to corollas but not Toyotas. I just recently got a 77 corolla 3KC with 126,00mile (orig.), I have cleaned the carb 2 times and it still will not idle without a rag over the 1st barre. It is driveable and runs great on the top end. Am I missing simething on the idle side? I cleaned out everything, like slow idle jet and put ia a new parts from a rebuild kit. Any help would be great, by the way I bought it from a guy who was the original owner and keeped excellent records for $600.oo. It turns out he was a B-17 pilot in WW2 and was a prisoner of war, anyway thanks in advance.

I have searched around abit on the sight and the FAQ/Wiki on this sight under "Carburettor" say this: http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Tech:Engine/K_Series/Carburettor I have already purchased the jets the wiki suggested and an adaptor plate for the 32/36 A few days later after reading that I came across the "how to build a tough K motor" wiki, it says http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?title=Tech:Engine/K_Series/How_to_build_a_tough_K_motor My question is, should I buy the webber and rejet it, or keep looking and find a smaller webber. …

Was in bed last night flicking through a copy of Modern Motor from September 1967. In the what's new column, they detailed the "Endeavour Equipment Control Rod" for vehicles with a live axle suspended by semi-elliptic springs. It was a very simple set up, that these days would be very easy to replicate. In 1967 it cost $15. Essentially it is a trailing link on the drivers side, that is located between the U bolt bracket and the front spring mount following the line of the spring. The trailing link was situated underneath the spring. It required drilling a hole in the front spring mount to locate it. Then there is a panhard rod that is mounted diagonally f…

Hey guys, I"m looking to buy my first car and I'm wondering whether or not I should go for a KE55. I love those 70's car shapes and I've found a few corollas on Car-sales, but I'm just wondering what I should be looking for in a good one.Yes I know these cars are more than 30 years old so they're not going to be showroom quality, but how much hassle am I to expect from a vintage Corolla in general? I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post Links here so if you would like to see the ones I'm looking at, just let me know. Thanks guys, Dave

Hey all, Now i know there are a few of these posts going around but mine is a different topic from what I'm reading. I have a 4k-c KE55 that is misfiring. Two weeks ago i replaced a broken ballast resistor(voltage limiter beside coil) and was sweet after that. Now is becoming a little more reluctant to start. It once started perfectly everytime but now need to hold the ignition on and plant the accelerator to start it and even then conks out randomly. But once started is when the real issues occur. When driving off and revving up a little to engage the engine to release the clutch, it pitter patters like a misfire and darker smoke comes out of the exhaust when …

  34. Okay, I'm trying to help a buddy locate a good front coil over conversion for his 1971 Corolla...He does not want to replace the stock strut tube which I believe is smaller that the SR5 buy about 5mm. He is also looking into using ground control front adjustable coil overs so that means he wants a shock that is a short stroke so that when he lowers his front end, the shocks would not bottom out. What would be a good spring rate for street use? I do know that the MR2 shocks are often used, but non SR5 had 45mm outside diameter front strut housing and in contrast the SR5 versions had 50mm housings. I need feedback from someone that has done a short stroke shock replacement …
